Even though Homer does describe one-on-one duels like this in The Iliad, such duels did not occur in the Bronze Age (3300 BC to 1150 BC), this happened more in the Iron Age, or at the very least as early as the period between those two ages often known as the Dark Age. Same with cremations, those occurred in the Iron Age as well. Though to be fair, Homer is--for the most part--accurate to things that were prevalent in the Bronze Age, especially the way he describes the armor and weapons of the Achaeans and the walls of Troy at that time.

Aganemnon took it more of an insult to him rather than Achilles. As to say Achilles took one look at that giant and ran in fear, in other words, he was tellin Agamemnon to his face that he couldn't produce a warrior to match his.

@@fvriovs5502 the movie mostly based on Iliad which IS a fantasy story and real actual historical evidence and information about this specific event are basically non existing, therefore stating the movie is not historically accurate is just unnecessary
@fvriovs55025 жыл бұрын
@@steelmonkeyy Well, we have archaeological evidence of Troy being destroyed at the time these events supposedly took place. It is agreed by many scholars that some form of Greek war expedition was led against Troy, but that the Iliad doesn't represent the actual case of events. We DO in fact have historical evidence and information, including a relative accuracy of description of the location of Troy, the surrounding area, made in the Iliad and validated by excavation of the site. The likely result, and one that actually was held as a belief in Classical Greece, is that Greeks and Trojans did meet, and Troy was destroyed either in that conflict or shortly afterwards as part of the larger Bronze Age Collapse, and that the Iliad is a dramatisation of these events for poetic reasons. There is evidence of a conflict, and of the destruction of a city. Just not the whole story as presented.

@davidhutagalung18774 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with u bro! But I do favor agamemnon's. if we interpreted agamemnon's character in terms of business or opportunities, then agamemnon's must be the best compare to odysseus's. When agamemnon's troops invade thessaly, from the very beginning, agamemnon only wants thessaly soldiers and its king to be submitted to agamemnon's interest and that way agamemnon will become king of kings. When you king of kings, land, women, wealth and glory will come by itself without you asking "peace is for the women and the weak. empires are forged by war" -> depends on how you define "war"
