Nice chevy truck. Not too many people on youtube haul truck campers with squarebody chevys.

Beautiful square body! I love the color! What motor? Does it have ac? Is that the truck that will haul the camper. It's worth some money for sure! Oh cool camper too, But that truck though!!

The truck is awesome and yes, it does haul the camper. I got it about 8 years ago 🎁 It used to have a 1986 camper that matched the colours nicely but I upgraded for the bathroom and north/south bed! It’s going in soon for a new paint job (the existing paint job isn’t original on the exterior but they are going to try and match the original interior better, same colour.) It’s quite a truck with many interesting features…maybe I’ll have to do a video about it 😉

In case you did not know, your fridge does a neat trick where you can pull out the freezer divider section and have all the space for just fridge! ;) Also as for your battery situation, i would recommend using 2 quality AGM batteries, they can handle deep discharge much better than flooded lead acid, and last many more cycles. AGM batteries can also handle the cold much better than Lithium, if that is a factor for you.
@JessicaWanders
@JessicaWanders 2 жыл бұрын
I did know that! I've had it out and tried the different configurations :D It's great that you can change it depending on what you need! I think that there are pros and cons to both Lithium and AGM for sure! I think we are going to upgrade to a Lithium for sure and take advantage of the lower weight of those batteries and then maybe get an AGM if we head out in the colder weather. We've been doing a lot of research and contemplating! Definitely want something better than the lead acid this year! Thanks so much for your thoughtful comments and advice! :D

This 80RB is the one my wife wanted but the only one we could find was the 80GS. The GS is nice but lacks the storage capacity our last truck camper had.
@JessicaWanders
@JessicaWanders Жыл бұрын
Hi! Honestly, my main complaint about the 80RB is that they seem to have taken out some of the storage compartments to make the camper lighter. It was great for our older truck but now that we have a newer truck with a higher carrying capacity I'm wishing we had the extra storage. I feel like our old camper built in 1982 had easier storage! It feels like there is some wasted space in the 80RB.

@@JessicaWanders - This weekend we actually started exploring a couple of areas under the dinette that sounded hollow. They turned out to be completely open and will make a huge difference in the storage areas. One is under the dinette table which we removed when we installed a Lagun table. The other area is a huge area under one of the dinette seats. Both areas simply need hinges installed on the covers once the screws are removed.

Watch for water damage behind the Jack brackets. I have a 2018 adventurer 80S and the corners are rotted almost beyond repair. The jacks shift, the caulk breaks, water gets in and rots the corners

Did you keep the stock mattress or did you upgrade it? I heard it was 4" but, I would want to get my own 8" residential mattress as RV mattresses are notoriously uncomfortable. What do you think?
@JessicaWanders
@JessicaWanders 2 жыл бұрын
I still have the stock mattress. So far so good and I’m hesitant to give up the headspace that we’d lose if we upgraded to a thicker mattress. Time will tell though. We had an ‘86 Roadway camper with a horrible mattress set up so this new mattress seems like heaven at the moment lol

It’s very nice , but I don’t mean to rain on you’re parade , did you not get A/C as the summers now are so hot that it will be like a hot pop can in the trailer and vent fans may just blow humid air ?
@JessicaWanders
@JessicaWanders Жыл бұрын
Hi :) We didn't get the AC installed because we can't run it without shore power or a generator. We don't camp very often in places where there are hook ups and even with the extra solar we have now AC would be quite a huge drain to run. The fan is actually quite good in the unit but, we do tend to head to higher elevations when it is really hot in the summers here. Luckily we have very low humidity here :) It adds some extra weight as well but now that we have a new truck to carry it we might look at the possibility again...especially if we are going to head south in the summers!
@kellybartok50
@kellybartok50 Жыл бұрын
@@JessicaWanders I still think A/C is the only way to go , look around for a small compact less power one any slight A/C will cool off the camper , my camper has it with out it boy I could not sleep or enjoy out door living in it .

Hmm I've thought about maybe just some kind of portable unit that we can plug in when we need it? I'll have to look in to that :) At the dealership they only had one available option...
