Living in a Truck Camper - Northern Lite 9-6 Tour

I bought this 1996 Northern Lite 9-6 Truck Camper in Idaho. It was a one owner, well taken care of unit that I chose over Arctic Fox and Lance.
Im going to bed heading out to the Northwest this summer to live in this truck camper full-time and eventually head up to Alaska and BC.
I specifically chose the 2022 Ram 3,500 SRW because of the 3,500+ payload capacity. I have around 1600-1700 pounds left over to tow a trailer or haul a motorcycle.
I have plans to add a 400w Solar Panel array, surfboard/ski rack on the roof and a solar generator to boondock.

Nice setup dude. We’re basically doing the exact same thing. Youtubin full timing in northern lites with a ram.

$5k for that?? Nice deal. Hard to find any camper that isn't water damaged at that price, let alone a northern lite.

Also, get yourself some spring loaded turnbuckles asap. Not good to have truck campers tied down to a static connection..it adds a ton of strain on the camper’s connection points. If you’re in Montana I have a set of torklifts I can sell you for cheap.

Hey man, I actually watched some of your videos before I purchased mine and swayed me to a 9-6 funny enough! I’m heading to North Dakota and then Montana later this month on my way out west. Is it really that huge of a benefit I just paid $250 or something for these at a dealership.

@@JamesVonwiegen from what I remember it’s not as much a benefit as much as it is a necessity. I may be wrong, though. It makes sense to allow your camper to have a bit of flex though to reduce the jostling and jarring they inevitably receive when driving down bumpy roads

@@JamesVonwiegen also that’s crazy! Maybe that’s why KZfaq suggested your videos to me. They do do that a lot I think. It’s cool in that way: They recommend similar lifestyles especially if you’ve watched theirs

@@downbytheriver501 lol yeh I was debating between the 9-6 and some lance model and watched a some of your off-roading camping videos. I’ll be in Montana late July early august and maybe can work something out I’ve had a good amount of people suggest those exact ones

Sir, when you said "I have around 1600-1700 pounds left over to tow a trailer or haul a motorcycle" this is not accurate. The Dodge RAM 3500 single wheel has a towing capacity of 15,000 lbs, I believe even more if you have high output. You're confusing the payload capacity, which is whats in the truck bed. You should easily tow another 10-13k lbs Anyways, this is awesome, I wish I could find a small northern lite like this. I don't like the big chunky modern truck campers.

No SRW on all brands is way over 15,000lbs. My trucks tow capacity is 20,000lbs. CCC is 4,400. Rear axle payload is 3,750lbs.
