You should get a Webasto gasoline heater. You can tap them into your fuel tank and they actually do not use that much fuel even on the coldest of nights. They also have diesel versions as well.

I lived in my truck for almost 2 years. Granted my area only get down to 30 degrees at night. I found a personal heater off of Amazon that only pulled 80 watts. It worked amazingly. I didn’t have a Jackery. I had a charger that charged a laptop. The only downside was the little charger only lasted up to a hours before it died. I’ve been watching you since the beginning. I’m so happy to see how you and your channel have done so well.

Here's my recipe guess based on the video: 1/4 stick of butter in pan, dice 1 white onion, 1 stalk of celery and 1 large carrot and add to pan, fry until tender. Wash and slice 1 potato into small pieces, set aside. Add two teaspoons of garlic to the pan and grind some black pepper and salt. Add 1 teaspoon of ground Rosemary, 1/2 teaspon of cracked hot peppers, and stir in 3 tablespoons of flour. Add 2 cups of Chicken Stock broth and potatoes. Add bay leaves and continue to simmer until potatoes are tender. Add shredded sharp cheddar, 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt and garnish with parsley??

Oil-filled heaters are the best electric heaters. The oil acts as a thermal mass and, once you get it up to temp, it provides a comfortable, consistent heat source. You could even heat it up at home before you set out in the wild.
@gwot
@gwot 2 жыл бұрын
on the flip side... it takes takes just as long to heat it up so it's pretty much the same, depending on far the wild is even if you pre-heat at home. But you get the slight piece of mind that it's not powered on during your sleep to cause some of the issues

I agree about liking seasons. When I was younger I wanted nothing more than to live in someplace warm year-round. As a grew older, I really started to appreciate the seasons. Even with SAD (seasonal affect disorder) plaguing a majority of us that live in the Midwest, there is something so refreshing when Spring comes...it just means so much more having gone through Winter. Plus, the scenery throughout all the seasons is so unique and ever changing. I wouldn't have it any other way. Although, I do still appreciate a warm Spring Break vacation to break up the Winter doldrums. Lol

@jamesnewman9547
@jamesnewman9547 2 жыл бұрын
It's the same either way. Either the smaller heater won't hit the target temp at all, or if it does, it'll run twice as often as a 1kw for the same heat. In the end, the choice is *colder* or more battery.
@brahtrumpwonbigly7309
@brahtrumpwonbigly7309 2 жыл бұрын
Mav, you can just find a heater that draws fewer watts. A smaller heater may only draw 700 or so. It won't produce as much heat but that might be ok for your situation. 1500w is the highest allowed in the US for any household appliance designed to do nothing but put off heat so that is why you find so many that top out there, it just may be overkill for your truckbed's small cubic area.
@gpaje
@gpaje 2 жыл бұрын
I have a similar heater, there is a lower setting he could use that will essentially halve the output. But it isn't that warm. Anything electric that produces the heat he would need in that camper shell won't likely be warm enough at 700 watts.

Space heaters generally have 2 or 3 settings. You need to put it on the lowest heating setting to draw the least amount of power.. produces less heat but also way less power. You can look for a low power 200--400W space heater

@ethansgarage7627
@ethansgarage7627 2 жыл бұрын
Hey mav here to help you out with that calculation at 7:15 It’s really easy one you have an idea of how it works So you’re jackery is actually 1500 watt hours not amp hours so the calculation is just total capacity divided by the amount of power you are drawing so 1500/1400= 1.07 hours if you used 1400 the entire time. So now you may be wondering what the difference between amp hour and watt hour is. Volts * amps = watts watts / volts = amps or watts / amps = volts. To calculate amp hours to watt hours you need to multiply by the voltage I don’t know the specs but let’s do a hypothetical just so you can see how it would work. If your battery was 12v, and you knew the capacity was 125 amp hours, 12*125 = 1500 watt hours

Home ownership is a blessing but can also have its downs. I invest in real estate and struggle with prioritization on my projects as well. It never ends, in the end ive found out that I’ll do what I’m good at and offload what I can’t do or what isn’t worth my time to someone else. I love working on my pickup, love smoking a brisket or rack of ribs on occasion, I enjoy playing some video games but you will always battle with what comes first. If I could have it my way I’d make millions and never work a day in my life. But who wouldn’t right? Don’t bear yourself up! Come on mav when we are from way up north we put our beer in coolers . To stop it from freezing . Same goes for food . Try to stop it from freezing. Run a 12v plug to the back with Proper amp rating wire and charge your box off your truck battery. Keep a jump box with ya for when truck Battery dies also . I live to the east of the finger lakes and south from Lake Ontario. We get lake affect snow from the moisture you saw rising from the lake

As a first time home owner this summer, I feel you man. I feel like ripping out the middle bench of my Caravan, flattening the back row, stuffing a mattress and a sleeping bag in the back and just heading out to the lake. I need to decompress. There's just so much to deal with, logistically, when it comes to home ownership. Between dealing with the notary, the broker, the realtor, and the candlestick maker, it's exhausting

@@Semystic sorry as a 60 year old man sounds like a bit of whining if you ask me. Pretty indicative of this generation. The opportunity for home ownership and then complaining. A buyers agent basically takes everything off your plate and you dont even have to pay them. If your going to put yourself out there like that plan to get roasted. Same thing would happen to you if you were out in a bar drinking and make a comment like that.

Don't worry about all the new responsibilities. You will get used to it soon enough. Just do one thing at a time. You did such a great job organizing your truck. House is much bigger so there's more room to organize things. If you make a video about organizing your house I'm sure you will get all kinds of ideas from people watching. Some of them might even be good ideas. 😉😂

Mav, that's pretty cold and you could be getting into dangerous conditions at -3*, especially without reliable heat. Please be careful and don't put yourself into those situations! We care about you and don't want anything bad to happen to you. You need to find a reliable heat source and a backup when you expose yourself to temps below 0*. How about getting some hand and feet warmer packets for a backup when you are getting to cold? I pray that the Lord's angels will protect you in all your ways as you keep on truckin! Blessings to you and your family!
