I looked at all of them, researched them until I reached the end of the internet. I test drove all of them and ended up buying a new Ram 1500 4x4 Bighorn (didn't want leather). This is the most loaded bighorn I have ever seen, about every option you can throw at it...I love it! It is such an awesome truck. I bought my last truck brand new, a 2001 Silverado extended cab. I still have it and not parting with it because it only has 165K miles and runs like new and still drive like new-ish. Great video, good to see real people giving their opinons

I was between Dodge, Ford, and Toyota and went with the Tundra. The prices of Ford and Dodge are absolutely insane - they wanted $15-20k more than the tundra. Their lots also had 50+ trucks sitting and Toyota had 6 tundras. I think they’re all awesome but the American dealerships can eat shit. Great trucks but theyre killing themselves with the markups

The other day I was on highway 77 south in south east Texas. I passed a Tundra towing a Ford, a Chevy and ram trucks. People here go up north to auctions and buy vehicles and bring em back to sell. I almost started to follow the Tundra so I could maybe buy the Tundra but then I realized I was already driving a 4runner.

Still prefer the Ford F-150. That ProPower On Board is great for camping and for powering an RV (if you have the 7.2kW). Plus Ford gives you 12v outlets. I hate it when manufacturers stick underpowered USB ports on the vehicles without any other options. Most devices uses Quick Charge and USB-PD now, so 12v outlets are much more handy. Wish Ford can do the split tailgate and make the FX4 package a bit better (by getting rid of the front chin spoiler and actually putting a real bash plate there). I realize you can get the Tremor, but they only have that in a short bed.

I’m almost 60. I’ve been driving pickups on the family Ranch since age 9 (very normal back in the day). Anyway these trucks are all absolutely amazing in comparison to the trucks of my youth. As a matter of fact… my dad, recently passed away, pulled a 35’ fifth wheel with his 2002 Toyota Tundra!! I’m not kidding. He put airbags in the rear and sold his 1995 F-350. That 1995 Tacoma out pulled the F-350! He took that trailer to a Lake Tahoe from Victorville several times a year lol! But understand this. When he started driving, he learned in a 1946 Ford 1-ton pickup. He saw the Tundra as an amazing piece of engineering far far more capable Than the 3/4 and 1-ton pickups he owned all the way through the mid 90’s! Here is something to think about! Take a 1995 Ford F-350 with the diesel engine. Look at its weight, the kind of and size of brakes, at its low end torque and horsepower. Look at its 0-60 times and its stopping distance under normal load. Then look at the 2023 Ford F-150 with max trailer package. The 2023 half ton will weigh the same or just a little more than the 1995 1-ton pickup!!!!! It will have more power, better brakes and can absolute pull a 18,000 lbs trailer better than the 1-ton 1995 truck! For me, I prefer Ford better than the Ram. I don’t care for the Rams coil springs under a load and I feel the styling is feeling dated.

I'll take the Tundra because money is an issue. Clearly has the most features and bang for your buck. Add to that, it has the best resale and reliability and IMO best looking. I do like the ride better the Ram and the more upscale interior. The looks on the Ram are great too. But the interior and ride isn't enough to sway me from the Tundra being my #1 choice.

Thank you guys for the review... Regarding the ford, since the trim is the heritage... The gear shift should be attached to the steering wheel as we used to see in classic cars in 80s and 70s. However, the two tones of the color is amazing. Compared to Ram and Chevy, the dimension of the ford is a little bit smaller which gives a muscle shape for Ram and Chevy. I can't believe how much that F150 cost. There is a dealer here that has 3 of them and they are all $65k think one is $68k. The paint scheme is hideous I think and the cloth interior and all and nearly $70k. I bought a GMC Denali Ultimate this past week and it was only $14k more and what is even stranger is its a Duramax. I am used to diesels being $10k or so more expensive and I got $1500 off for it being the Duramax. Its pearl white too that was $1100 extra had a few other things added just didn't have the supercruise that would have been $3500 more. Still has adaptive cruise but that is standard I believe with the Ultimate.

Love and own Fords, like the new diesel and interior in the Chevy, like the turbo and hybrid powertrain in the Tundra but I think if I were going to replace my F-150 today it would likely be with the Ram with pretty well tried and true 5.7 / ZF8, and multi link rear suspension.
@swampgumpharpy7977
@swampgumpharpy7977 Жыл бұрын
After twelve years, the ecoboost engines are tried and true at this point, and put out amazing real-world power. The 5.7 is underpowered, and the rear coils ruin the towing experience on the ram over around 6.5k lbs.. In my opinion, the ram is the best looking truck in the line up, but it's time to get with the times on powertrains, and suspension (ford bolted control arms with rear leafs wins over chevy stamped control arms and ram rear coils). Allison transmissions available in chevy 1500's and massive power available in Ford ecoboost engines has ram needing something more than awesome styling.

@@skellington2000 Yeah, the ford 5.0 in the f150 and the chevy 5.3 are also underpowered. I just responded to the original comment which suggested that the 5.7 is a great, tried and true motor when it may be tried and true, but it's not great. At this point, if you're considering a 1/2-ton truck to pull anything of consequence, the 5.7 with rear coils just isn't a great option. Sure, the naturally aspirated, small v8's in fords and Chevys aren't good either, but at least the back ends on those don't booty shake all over the road like the coils on the rams. People say it's subjective, and to some degree it is, but ram 1500's with the rear coils and 5.7's are really some of the worst with a 6.5k+-lb trailer behind them. That said, from a power only perspective, the 5.0 and 5.3 are both pretty terrible compared to the ecoboosts and 6.0-6.2's, but at least the handling is there under a tow load or pay load where it's just not with those coil springs..
@swampgumpharpy7977
@swampgumpharpy7977 Жыл бұрын
One more quick point: The ford 2.7 will pull significantly better than the ford 5.0 (I don't know how, but it does). And the 2.7 is a cheaper option than the 5.0. In order to get the same pulling power as a 2.7 out of a chevy or a ram, you have to pay a lot extra for the bigger engines.

I really appreciated this review - real people not industry insiders or fanboys.. for the majority of truck owners groceries, golf clubs and their kids sofa are some of the common items being "hauled" around these days. I would like to see the manufactures stop the practice of limiting access to functional features in higher trims. I want function not luxury in my truck. Being someone who tows a travel trailer across the country a couple times a year - I do not understand what's going on with CCC. If you believe what the tags tell you - not one of those trucks has enough CCC to actually tow anything close to half of its tow capacity. Seems odd that at the same time RV manufacturers are focused on making 1/2 ton towable rigs. What's going on? Can you ask your industry friends about that?

@Pickuptrucktalk
@Pickuptrucktalk Жыл бұрын
It comes down to more features. Automakers can’t make the truck stronger because then a half-ton moves into the 3/4 ton weight class. So, they have to keep the curb weight the same while making the chassis stronger while also accounting for more features aka weight in the truck. It is a tough balancing game. As you saw, the Ram 1500 had the worst payload rating because it had the most features. The XLT had the best with less features and cloth seats.

@@Pickuptrucktalk I understand the argument about the segments - but there's a lack of truth in advertising (not surprising). Every year the manufacturers put out higher and higher towing capacity for the 1/2 ton segment, but in reality it can't tow that if it can't carry the hitch weight and normal size American people. I would love to see some regulation regarding advertising that requires them to actually advertise what it can tow with a default allowance of 150lbs per seating position in the vehicle plus 500lb in the bed pre-hitch. I'd like to see the KZfaqrs like yourself, TFL Truck, Truck King, etc. take them to task on a regular basis on this subject. Kind of like you did Ford on the rust. One other note .. I should be able to equip a capable 4 wheel drive with tow package and not be locked out of options for one or the other - again, I don't think the truck manufacturers understand what is going on in the RV world - overlanding, boon docking, etc. People need capable trucks to get them into remote places and back out. Appreciate your channel.

Maybe @TimEsterdahl has an opinion on Ford's dismal supply chain management but it seems CEO Farley should have long since been fired. Non of the other big truck manufacturers have these deletes.

The Ford was only an XLT trim, and I don't think these "truck guys" understood that that truck can be equipped with a step. The GM steps work very well and are always available, the Ram tailgate is the best, but it was Ford that started the tailgate feature trend. The almighty Toyota still offers nothing in the tailgate and the rear bumper slopes at the ends so you can't step on it. The Toyotas rear floor is not flat. I also have 2 dogs who travel with me, so I prefer the open floor in the Ford. One of your guest truck guys didn't seem to give his wife much credit. I'm sure my wife would have more insight into what a truck is for other than lugging around golf clubs.

I don't know about the last year or 2 year models but I have seen lots of blown head gaskets and oil pump issues besides all the electrical issues. I have a buddy that bought one new a few years ago and a month or 2 after we got it we took a road trip up to Charlotte in it and on the way home to SC 5 hours southeast basically the headlights quit working. His stereo would quit the dealer replaced that at least once I know of. In less then 6 months it went back total piece of shit that truck was. I have seen others that had issues with the lights strobing or just quit working like his too. I really like the look of them and the interior is really nice. So I bought a Denali Ultimate lol I know one of the mechanics that used to work for us on and off was a Dodge nut. He didn't have all that much money and my next door neighbor bought a new truck so I bought his Ram from him and sold it to Vinny for $100 over what I had in it. It was a nice truck just a stripped down 2wd 4.7 but it was nice for what it was. He took my trailer when I was out of town and went to VA I guess to pick something up and blew the tires out on my trailer somehow and blew the engine up in that Ram. Then I bought another for him from a local bank that is constantly selling repos. That truck needed a new ECU in 6 months or less of him having it. Those were both 06-10 trucks but still from what I have seen I wouldn't buy one

A lot more not mentioned. Biggest issue for me is the 4 Star crash rating they haven't fixed since 2019!!! IF they fixed this I would trade in. Another plus would be a 36 or 40 gal tank. Yet another would be a supercharger/turbocharger or other low ambient air pressure compensation device. Other ideas, but none of the mfgs do a good job of soliciting or listening to customers IMO.

My only issue with this comparison and as a 2023 F150 Platinum owner, you compared a relatively base F150 with higher trimmed trucks. Perhaps the F150 would have faired better if it were a Lariat.
