I’m seriously considering getting into the business but this is my biggest concern. I personally feel like life would passing me by while I live on the road like a nomad. I had a trucker of 30 yrs tell me that while money can be good if I can find a job bringing home 1200- 1500 a week and be in my bed don’t be a trucker.

My son is an over the road trucker and I've gone with him on some of his trips. This video is absolutely on the money on what it's like to live out of a truck. Not easy; but I've found that this is the life these truckers desire at this point in their lives. Remember, EVERYTHING around you has been on a truck at one point. The materials used to build your house, your clothes, your food, your cleaning products,,, EVERYTHING! Without someone willing to haul that stuff around the country, we would only be as good as what we could grow in our own back yards.

My husband and I worked as truckers, longhaul. He drove the truck and I was his navigator. We carried food, water, clothes and our dog. Slept in a sleeper with sleeping bags. When we stopped for fuel, I emptied our trash, got ice and coffee. We had a way to heat up our food. Loved it!!!

I’ve been a truck driver since 1977 and I plan on working until they pry me out of the truck. The first 36 years were OTR the last 10 have been line haul and home every night. I drive about 525 miles a day 5 days a week on a dedicated route. It feels like I’m semi retired now compared to living in the truck for weeks at a time. A lot of changes over the years. We used to have to pull on our coveralls and manually set up the tractor and trailer brakes as part of the pre trip inspection. We used to have to find a pay phone every morning by 0800 to check in with dispatch. We used to have to call places for directions before GPS. We used to run multiple log books and run illegal hours before ELD’s. Most of the changes have been positive but there are more and more trucks on the road with fewer and fewer parking spaces.

Nice video. You're a very well-organized individual and you get an A+ for cleanliness. One little tip for you: if you're going to store lettuce in a baggie like that, wrap a paper towel around it first. It'll stay fresher longer and it won't get slimy.

I don’t use a skillet and propane stove. I have an air fryer oven. And microwave. I cook all the time in my truck too. Doing dishes though, I got a couple of collapsible camping sinks from Walmart, and heat water in microwave to do dishes. Then just dump it out the door. I keep a couple of gallon jugs to fill up at the truck stops for doing dishes.

I believe YOU might be the only one I could ever team with besides her. It’s so refreshing to see another driver out here besides myself that actually takes pride in their job and themselves. I’m sure you’ve seen first hand the trash that other that gives us all a bad reputation to the public. Stay safe out there !!

I love the care this guy takes to keep things clean! My Dad was a long haul truck driver for over 35 years. His bunk was just that, a 21" mattress behind a curtain. Period. The first trucks he drove didn't have air conditioning (it wasn't invented yet). He started driving around 1950. This driver has a nice setup and a good routine!

Few years back i took a job with a friend where we drove two vehicles from new Jersey to Seattle, Washington. We used CBs while driving so we could communicate with each other and listen to truck drivers to gain road conditions and traffic information. This was before smart phones. The drive would be boring so he'd ask me to sing. I know hymns and opera and studied music so i sang those. Many truckers would tune in to hear me sing Amazing Grace and Jesus Loves Me and In the Garden as well as an Italian or French art song. We would meet some truckers at rest stops and were treated to dinner and i would sing Grace before the meal. It was four days. Ive won Opera competitions, sung lead roles and concerts and now have settled into a life of teaching and church singing. But my favorite audience by far wre those truck drivers who would tune in while on the road. God bless you and thank you for your chosen work. ❤️🎵

In certain areas I use a ratchet strap in between the doors to keep them more secure. Because most people don't know that there are very few different keys made for semis and many large companies will only have 2 or 3 different keys to fit every truck in their fleet. This actually helps sometimes if you lock your keys in your rig. If you're in a Peterbilt, just try to find someone else near you with another Peterbilt, or check with your DM to see if there's another company rig near you. I was able to help another driver (different company, same rig) with my key. He was in disbelief that it worked until I told him about the limited number of different keys.

Wish I had that type of set up when I was driving. Unfortunately I drove with another driver for Starnes out of Whittier Calif. We picked up produce and dropped the Trailer at the Canadian Border (New York) then drove Steele Cable back. Was driving a 16 speed road ranger White Cabover. Right a road camode. We never stopped except to fuel up and that's when it was time to grab a bite. One drove and the other attempted to sleep while being bounced around in the back. And is that an automatic ? I used to envy those driving a nice long nose trucks, they are so much smoother.

See, this is why I never stop learning from fellow drivers. That water in the sidebox is genius. Be safe, bro.

I miss running tanker so much. I’ve been considering prime Inc. Leasing tanker. But I’m still on the fence I know freight is really bad right now. But seeing this nightly routine, which was so close to my own, when I work for Schneider. The flat top freightliner was just enough space. As a tanker, parking is so much easier, tank, wash, shippers, and receivers typically have no issue with you parking.

you're so clean, neat and organised. I like how you are eating well and trying to stay away from fast food. Travel well! One thing, careful of which vape, some have fake oils for flavoring, that melt when hot but solidify in your lungs.
