"In fact, I would have died in the next 48 hours if I hadn't got into hospital at that point."
Trudi was taking some time off from working as an urgent care nurse when she believed she was coming down with a ‘bug’.
However, her symptoms quickly progressed, and by the sixth day Trudi was forced to take matters into her own hands to get diagnosed.
Here, she shares her story as part of our #SpotLeukaemia campaign.
You can read Trudi's full story here bit.ly/TrudiArcher

How is Trudi now please? Hoping she is well and recovering. I suffered from fatigue & bone pain back in 2019 but thought I was just overdoing it at work and the gym. I remember having trouble explaining to everyone that I had this underlying tiredness which I could not explain and kept making the point it was different than normal fatigue you would get from a workout. I went to doctors and no action was taken at the time, so I thought nothing of it. It was only through a blood sample I gave during a period of suffering from kidney stones that I had a call from the hospital to come in straight away. I was diagnosed with Leukaemia (AML) after spending the a night in hospital and started Chemo the day after.

@@christy8693 Hi, I spent a year having chemotherapy, then referred to another hospital for stem-cell transplant. I'm now 12 months post Stem-cell transplant & at this time, I think things are looking positive. Thank you for asking

@@RicheUK That's good to hear, glad you're doing well. My mom was recently diagnosed with AML two weeks ago and is undergoing chemo as well. I was wondering after your transplant if you faced any complications such as GVHD?

I'm 12 months post transplant now and yes I do get complications such as GVHD, brain fog, and fatigue, but it is improving. I'm also slowly coming off my medication. Although I'm in remission, I'm still having moderate stomach and skin issues which is down to GVHD but I do get the impression that its common with patients. It is just that everyone is different, so some get it worse than others. They do keep it under control with medications such as steroids
