Hank murdered Heis in cold blood and reminded Pete that he needed to stay loyal to blood as he was about to commit his 2nd murder of Liz. He was a crooked cop to boot and Pete did the right thing by stopping the cold blooded murder of Liz. Hank was about to shoot TWO unarmed people, shot Heis in the back too. The real irony was when Hank said, "I am NOT a killer..." which meant was he WAS going to kill Heis and anyone else who got in his way.

Of course it is. The ice caves are the inner heart of the region. The pollution and its consequences are the inner heart of the conflict. They mirror each other like so much of the imagery in the season. It is the hidden danger within, just how the persona of Sedna is a mirror of Navarro and that same motif of the hidden danger within. It is that "corruption" that symbolically infects the people of the town. Virtually every relationship in the series has an aspect of this idea. It feels very much they are tapping into some Jungian symbolism there and detailing the Shadow archetype in each person, place, and event in the series. The show has been working towards that inevitable conflict with the Shadow where the characters, events, and locations must confront whether they will emerge triumphant, free of it's grasp and forever changed or the only other, more tragic, option. That remaining option is not only to be consumed by the Shadow, but subsumed by it. Replaced completely by that dark side, never to be free of our worst nature.

I think Darwin’s drawing is being overthought. He’s just drawing what he has seen. His Mom is a nurse and Grandma takes him to the laundromat. He sees the women of Ennis, some who have been abused (punched in the eyes) and some who have lost fingers, like Blair. His drawing isn’t of Sedna. I think the women of Ennis killed the scientists .. flash froze them at the crab packaging plant, then used a forklift from the plant to drive them out on the ice. We see a forklift at the beginning at Tsalal too (episode 1 when Danvers arrives and is talking to Hank). It’s Blair’s handprint in episode 2. There’s nothing supernatural going on here. Just women fed up with men, fed up with the mine, the faked data and the loss of their children.

@genreonlinenet
@genreonlinenet 3 ай бұрын
@@dianegreyson8787 That is exactly what I was thinking and I think the whole Tuttle connection is just a false trail to get people to watch the show. First the spiral if we go by the first season was some kind of cult symbol, then it was something very ancient so old, in fact that it was older than anything else around them I think. Then we all thought it was some kind of great clue, and now it just turns out to be, a warning symbol so that hunters don’t drown in the ice? I read someplace that the person who is in charge of this season is purposely going to leave lots of unanswered questions, but will make the person who watches it wonder what was real and what was not real. If that’s true, I think it’s a real dumb idea because what made True Detective season one so good was the fact that while there was some room for interpretation, I felt like the story was very grounded in reality. Plus the setting is got to be one of the most depressing places I’ve ever seen. It’s definitely not in northern exposure, if you know what I’m talking about. Anyway, I agree with you 100%.

I could be totally off, but I think the Wheeler storyline is over. I don't think we're ever going to find out who actually pulled the trigger because it doesn't matter. At the end of the day, he was a POS who deserved what he got, and Navarro and Danvers did the world a favor. I also think Pete agrees with that. He wanted to know what really happened, but I don't believe he would have ever used that information against either one of them. That whole storyline only existed so that Hank and Connelly would have leverage over the two women, and that's part of the reason that they're "going rogue" and not getting Connelly involved. Connelly has the power to put them away for life and they are determined to find out what happened to Annie and the scientists. How much Connelly actually knows about the mine and the lab and the dirty water and Annie's death...I'm still not sure about, but if he knows anything at this point (and it seems that he does), then he's enemy #1 going into the final episode. I could be wrong and they could flashback and show us what really happened to Wheeler, but there are so many unanswered questions, I just don't know how they're going to fit everything into one episode.

@Kristine_202
@Kristine_202 3 ай бұрын
@@LAZISH I don't think he's enemy #1. I know that's the term I used, but I didn't mean that he actually killed Annie. I just think that he's going to be a major obstacle for them. He's in a position of power so he could easily kill them and make up some BS story to cover it up. And no one else seems to care about Annie or the scientists, so if Navarro and Danvers are gone, it's pretty much smooth sailing for the people who committed the murders. The woman running the mine isn't that powerful...At least not on her own. She's only been able to get away with what she has because the cops are protecting (and even helping) her. Now that Hank is out of the picture, I think she's going to tell Connelly, "You need to take care of this." So he's not the final boss fight, but he's the next one. He might be one of those annoying enemies where every time you get close to finding something out, he pops up and you're like, "Ugh! Not this guy again." LOL

I've noticed in this episode in particular the police badge for Ennis has a big bear and baby bear on it. In the show the only people that's seen the big bear missing the eye was Navarro & Danvers in "visions". My theory is the big bear is mother nature (Sedna) and the baby bears are Danvers & Navarro who will eventually solve the case and shut down the mine bringing balance back to nature. Navarro & Danvers are the only to 2 to see visions and hear things but I do think Navarro's family mental health past is also a thing as given with her sister & mother. Also, Rose is alive as she's not imaginary in a lot of ppls theories due to her always changing clothes and such. The spirits do not change clothes ever on the show nor do ghost need to. I think that bear was stabbed in the eye with the same object Annie was killed with as well, pretty star shaped and its hard to think just snow boots/cleats would penetrate deep enough to puncture leaving fatal wounds. I wouldn't be surprised if there were a part 2 to the series season 4 as they have already broken the anthology rule. Then again, probably not. A lot to still need to be answered and too much to type of what I think will happen.

I just could never go back with all the work and blessings I've gained. If you keep consistent and focused, I am telling you it will be the same for you! An interesting thought: Remember back in episode 1, when Prior found his son drawing the image of what is supposed to be Sedna? Priors wife mentioned that she had to drop Darwin off at her Grandmothers laundromat so she can look after him. This is the same laundromat in which Blair was recently spotted at in this episode. Blair is also missing fingers, just as seen in the drawing. Take that for what it’s worth, because I have no idea how Blair seems to be connected to Tsalal. Hopefully we get a satisfying ending with the final episode.

@@littlewing6231 I don't know how I feel about S4 to be honest. None of the characters are really like-able, and the writing doesn't feel like there's a real vision behind it. It almost feels like they started filming and realized an error they had made, and have edited or re-shot around it. Also the attempts to tie this back to Season 1 seem like a very odd choice. The capitalism-bad, mkay mining company, Tuttle Corp, and evil spiral plus Russ's father/mother? That alone would be a huge coincidence, but there doesn't seem to be a real occult thread here at all. Everyone claims there's nothing supernatural in True Detective, but the ending of S1 did have a semi-supernatural nod with Russ's vision. The setting is good. The characters are all kind of weak, and the plot is even weaker.

It was Rose. She is a Tuttle. In episode 2 we see Rose in the reflection when rolling a cigarette which confirms she is real. We do not know her real name, but Agineau is her last named similar to “ageau” which means lamb in French. In Epi 1 we see her cleaning a wolf implying she is the apex predator, yet we see her during the show as a caring old lady. The meal she prepared on Christmas Eve was lavish implying she has money and we know was able to quit her job in academics to move to Alaska. We don’t yet know who actually owns the mine and I don’t think we can rule out she is the actual owner of the mine as a Tuttle.

In season 1, Errol Childress only appeared in one scene through almost the whole season (the one where Rust talks to him briefly while he was mowing the lawn), and the dirt on his face obscured his scars. He doesn't appear again until the end of episode 7, when Pappania and Gilbough see him mowing by the river and ask him for directions, at which point we get the first clear look at his face and realize he is the man with the scars Marty and Rust have been looking for. It would not be the first time that TD revealed a tertiary character as the centerpiece of the mystery at the 11th hour, and it worked before.

Mayor of Ennis would be a small, low paying job with little clout or political power behind it. Anchorage is a proper city that being mayor of would actually come with perks, a real salary, political power, and the ability to use it as a stepping stone to further his political career if acquits himself well enough as mayor.

Hmmmm 🤔 this does give blair a significant role without making her the killer. Maybe Sedna ties in after all and Blair cut off her fingers in a ceremony as like a tribute? But is she practicing, or was she and her chapter of the cult forced out by silver sky? Not sure. There must be some unearthly (or seemingly unearthly) power down there. Waaaaaait - do the Tuttles know about this whole thing because of communications between chapters of the cult? Because I do want an explanation for how a Louisiana cult got into the Alaskan mysticism business.

-I think the ending will be a combination of sci-fi & reality -There's something in the water that is definitely affecting the entire village. Have they even tested it? Even though its not consumed, it still makes skin contact. It's making all emotions run high; additionally the stresses from their own lives, past & present & the current events. -Navarro suffers from PTSD both from childhood & military experience. She may also have inherited some of her mom & sister's mental illness as well, hence her visions. -Danvers also suffers from loss & abuses alcohol to numb her pain, but this only enhances the poison in the water, hence her visions. -The scientists had indeed found the Everlasting Gobstopper to the secret of life. And they wanted to test it. But they needed a subject. Enter Annie K. She wanted to go to Tsalal to see if they had a connection to the mines to use against them. Clark drew her in, but then they fell in love. The others killed her & made it look like a warning for her protesting the mine. Just as Kate instructed. -She's Awake! Annie K. has been resurrected from her beaten body. But she's no longer Annie, she is now Sedna. The scientists may have indeed died from a 'slab avalanche', but I think Senda caused it. - In the Wheeler case, I think Navarro shot him & Danvers covered it up. As for the fate of Danvers, she may die after falling through the ice. She already knows too much about the Tuttle ownership of the mines & would most likely be murdered by them. However, she would be reunited with her child & husband. -As for Navarro, she may escape, but not in a way we will expect. Blair might have something to do with this.

Finally, someone else saying Annie is back 🎉🎉 But I think her motive for getting into the mine was spookier. She didn’t have those dreams in high school that went away with the spiral tattoo just to end up as an environmental activist with nothing else going on. She was called down into those caves, by whatever voice called to her in her youth. Remember the cleaning lady who said she was “obsessed” with getting into Tsalal? And I don’t think the researchers are nearly as sinister as all that. I don’t know how she died, but I think Clark found her body in the caves, took her phone, took her tongue (no idea how it would end up in the lab otherwise), and used the tongue as a source for a cell culture to regrow her using the spooky microbe that turns dead people into live monsters, and that’s where the Sedna mythology came from in the first place

As others have suggested, I worry that all of the season 1 callbacks (the ghost of Travis, the spiral, the Tuttles) are just a gimmick. They haven't mentioned Travis again I dont think, and it seems like writers cant figure out what the spiral is supposed to mean. Its everywhere, its an old powerful symbol, its the whale bones in the cave, its a hunters trick to warn of thin ice. I'm not sure they can tie all that together in a satisfactory way. And there isnt much more revealed about the Tuttles other than using their name as a synonym for evil. So yea, it just seems like they just borrowed that to get people's attention, which, if true, really sucks.

I do think there is something supernatural going on in Ennis. I think some of the hallucinations the characters are having are based on their past guilts and what not, but I do think there some things that can't be explained that could be supernatural. "shes awake" definitely has a supernatural element to it bc why did Liz dream it too? I could see how it could be just a dream (or maybe a part of Navarro is waking up) if it was just Navarro who heard it but the fact that liz heard it too means something deeper and more supernatural! I'm also not watching as intently as others and maybe the writers want you to think it's supernatural at first glance but actually everything has an explanation. I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

FYI Peter would most likely not get brain damage by going under ice because water is so cold it suspends the body like they do for people when they put them on bi pass for surgeries. They cool the body so they don’t die. There are lot of recorded cases of people surviving going under water when water is cold and being completely fine.

Night Country is the first season I have ever watched on True Detective. I’m surprised by all of the supernatural stuff like how the characters are seeing dead people and the “She’s awake” line sounding like an evil entity has awaken. Is it always like this? Since the show is almost over can I ask how good this season is compared to the other seasons?

Season 1 is the single best season of television, period. Way less supernatural. Season 2 is skippable. Season 3 has great acting, ok story.

Yes, if you enjoy this, you will love season one, set in the bayou country. There are many similarities in tone and plot development to this night country season.

Season 1 was great! Season 2 I watched, but was so unimpressed I didn’t bother with season 3. I watched this season bc of Jodi Foster. I love the spooky feel of this season and hope the ending has a touch of supernatural in the ending…

I’m also gonna say season 1 is the best tv ever. There’s some quasi-supernatural imagery tied to hallucinations, and there’s a feeling of brushing up against some unearthly thing, but everything has a natural explanation. One of my favorite parts of the season is the sense of otherworldly things lying unseen and sinister beneath ordinary things. I’ve watched it like five times and the only reason I don’t watch it more is because I don’t want it to lose its magic. Best, absolutely best tv ever.

They could just show a flashback of Navarro making the call while in a trance, faking the voice.

Nothing made sense in this episode. And as an attorney, the ending scene is actually laughable. There is nothing to “cover” because the shooting was evidently justified. The fact that three cops together can’t even begin to think of a reason to justify the shooting is absurd. Moreover, by “covering up” this nonexistent crime, they also get rid of any evidence of Hank’s corruption and culpability.

I wonder if the episode will start off with Liz talking to the other investigators then tell the story and that’s what we will watch.

i might be late but talking about the one eye polar bear but it just an hunch you mention about Arctic Tribes having/seeing a spirt animal what happen if the one eye polar bear was their spirt animal its just an hunch. according to the wiki the bear mean COURAGE, STRENGTH, AND PROTECTION which fit both Navarro and liz.

I finished the 5 episodes last weekend. Tbh I doubt the finale can reveal all the so-far-unanswered questions... Sadly the writing in this season isn't strong enough to hold the story... I ended up re-watching Season 1 afterwards.

I just don't understand why these seasons have gotten so short. If they're going to pack so much into it, why not make enough episodes to do a really good job? We're watching... why not really satisfy us?

Shared psychotic disorder (folie à deux) is a possible theory because one eyed polar bear could be another example. And a red hair woman may be related to the cult. So far, she is showing up whenever main characters are asking around about the symbol. Or, she may be the killer.
