Portuguese ruled coastal-Goa which was Christian. Marathas ruled interior-Goa which was Hindu, but later 2 Maratha sardar Kingdoms asked assistance from Portuguese. Thats why there are Hindus in current Goa.

We love history of Shivaji Maharaj because he was born in our soil and we can emotionally connect to him and mavlas. English podcasts don't give us the feel which out Marathi language gives through powadas, songs, books and many more mediums. Just one thing we need to do is carry on this history to future generations because no other nation has such glorious history as ours and in Modern world where distraction and lust, greed has become very easy, and everyone is moving towards luxury, we should preserve the taste and feel of our soil and it's glory. Sir Jadunath Sarkar ,an eminent historian ,whose book on Shibaji ' s feats and Aurangzeb's fall was an authority on the subject, went unrecognised in history books after independece of the country.He visited Pune and the forts of Shivaji at least 45 times before writing his history books .

There was one more dagger plus the claws. Also it was believed the claws were poisoned. The entire purpose of the Luxurious Shamiyana was to make sure Khan is baffled by the display of wealth which Shivaji Maharaj was not known for. Also Shivaji Maharaj made sure that Khan will not get his audience easily. He made him wait so that he will get impatient. He made sure that only Khan and Himself are alone in the inner chember of Shamiyana. Keeping both Maharaj and Khan's Bodyguard outside. While coming out of Shamiyana Shivaji Maharaj was hit on his head by sword of Sayyad Banda who was Bodyguard to Khan. But Maharaj survived the blow because he had worn a metal cap inside his Jiretop. So in all Shivaji Maharaj had made eloborate planning to make Sure that Khan will not go alive from there. तो आला नव्हता त्याला आणला होता.

At this moment, I am not eligible enough to judge her. She may be a brilliant author, but she lacked history-telling skills somewhere. She didn't tell the history of Shivaji Maharaj with an uninterrupted flow and enthrallment as it should be told. Also, some facts must be re-verified. Shivaji Maharaj was not the person who finished Afzalkhan. It was his bodyguard, Sambhaji Kondhalkar, who beheaded him. Shivaji Maharaj used tiger-claws to tear Khan's fat from the rear side of his waist with the left hand wrapped behind him. As soon as Khan could understand what had suddenly happened, Maharaj stabbed the dagger into his abdomen and twisted it inside. With the rip teeth attached to it, the dagger came out with the intestines pierced and wrapped around it. All this happened within a couple of minutes. So, Maharaj hardly had the time to ultimately bring him to death.

There is one biography of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj named as "शिवभारत". It is one of the most reliable source of Shivaji Maharaj's History coz it was written during the time when he was alive (the writer of book died to illness and the book is not completed). That book says that Afzal khan was killed by a Sword. "शिवस्तत्पतीतं "खड्गं" खड्गेनादत्त वै तदा। शिरस्तदविपस्यापि पट्टिशेन व्यधाद् द्विधा।।" खड्गं means a Sword.

Yes Brother you are right about what she said, but tiger claw is not mentioned in that shloka. Even the biggest researcher of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Lt. Mr. Ninad Bedekar has dismissed the possible use of tiger claw. (Though the tiger claw is not an imaginary weapon.) Also, one more request, "Shivaji" is disrespectful. It is "Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj" or Simple "Chhatrapati" or "Shivray" or "Maharaj" or "Raje" will do.

The two podcasts in this series seem to lack a proper flow. Medhaji unfortunately has digressed a lot. What would have been ideal is follow a chronology of major life events of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, his vision behind what he did and then learnings for Indians today. Being a maharashtrian and having read/studied this era of history, I could at least connect some dots, my only concern is for Indians who might be new to this topic, the podcast could have dived deeper into the actual history by maintaining a flow and done better justice. Just an honest feedback.

Most important aspect of Shivrai's warfare is that he makes the enemy pay for any mischievous act and imposes cost. When Shaista Khan looted Pune, Shivaji Maharaj drives him out of Pune and did not stop there. He imposed cost by looting Surat.

There are so many gaps in this explanation. The gist however is that both Afzal Khan and Chh. Shivaji Maharaj knew both of them would not go out of the meeting tent alive. Shivaji Maharaj was more prepared and Afzal Khan was more arrogant.

Hey Ranveer and the TRS team, I have gained so much knowledge and confidence by watching your videos. I have probably watched at least 70/80 videos on your channel :-) and thats a lot of hours I am sure, some full-size interviews and few short clips. All the work you do is really great but just one piece of feedback/observation from a viewer's standpoint is that sometimes your video headlines are too eye catchy, but I couldn't find the real answer to open questions that I would have expected.

She is not aware of the technicalities of how Shivrai killed Afzhal Khan. Shivrai had rehersed the actual meeting scene with pehelwan who was of the same physical structure of Afzhal Khan. From that he knew that once he would get into the embracing position he would get locked and would not be able to reach out to his sword or dragger tied to his waist. Thus, the wagnakhi / tiger claw was used only to create intense pain, because of which Afzhal Khan will atleast release his killing grip. As Shivrai could not reach any other part to secure a weapon he had hidden dragger right under his left sleeve. The promt access to this dragger helped Shivrai to stab and tear Afjalkhan's stomach... ( and it was not done by the wangnahki) !!

She forgot to mention that the tiger claw belong to Shivaj Maharaj's elder brother Sambhaji who was killed by deceit , hence it was a sort of revenge and the tiger claw wasn't to kill the Afzal Khan who was more than 7 feet it was only the first strike he was further injured when the dagger pulled out the intestines .

Guys a humble request to all who just write name of Raje as 'Shivaji', it's 'Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj'. Please write Raje's name with complete respect. I think (I am not sure about this) even writing 'Shivrai' is equivalent to 'Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj'.

Tiger Claws was firstly used for loosing the grip of Afzal Khan's because only then afterward one can use the another weapons, Afterward Shivray Used another weapon named "Bichwa" by which Afzal's Intestine he pulled Out...There was a Poison with Tiger Claws too. Shivray were been practicing a fight with likewise person at Pratapgadh, This is a reason he was so Prepared. This Attempt was the repeated style of attack of Afzal Khan to Kill the person in his Hands. Shivray was also knew abt it Right Information, Right Plan, Right Preparation, Right Time, Right Place, Right Action & right impact
