I love how Seth owns his flubs and makes them into a joke all by itself, and how he calls out jokes that don’t land. Easily my favourites of the late night hosts that I can view over here

Seth Meyers is starting to become my favorite late night guy. He comes off very sincere. No fake laughter or feigned good guy act. He’s killing the jokes. Very natural rapport with the guests. He’s the guy. Colbert’s pretty up there too.

I work at a newspaper in a small town and we still use a press machine from the 1970's.. It doesn't pay well and every year could be our last but I enjoy doing something that feels important. If you still have a local paper in your town, be grateful. Police departments are getting rid of their public information officers everywhere because they don't need to even interface with the press when the press basically doesn't exist for the most part.

I'm so glad Seth did a segment on magazines and newspapers. The Sinclair Group has purchased radio and TV stations all over the country in a bid to stifle independent coverage of local and national news. It's frightening that they are also going after newspapers.

The only reason to ruin a company is that it has no use. Newspapers are dying. It's a fundamental flaw of human psychology to hold onto things that are not useful anymore purely for romanticism, nostalgia or not wanting to admit you are wrong.

local papers do some really important reporting when they have the resources to do so. for example, it was a local newspaper (the boston globe) that broke the story about abuse in the catholic church in 2002

Without local journalism who's going to keep authorities, elected or not, in check? Social media is proving to be not the most ideal source. I buy the local paper to remind those around me the critical role they play in keeping society informed. It can't and shouldn't be for free. We need to have journalists asking the tough questions about our community leaders.

For a more recent example, just look at the George Santos saga. Without the "North Shore Leader" in Long Island, we probably would have never found out what that guy was about. Or only much, much later. They were the only ones who investigated his weird campaign finances etc. and lanced that boil on the ass of humanity initially. None of big media corporations in NY cared about the local rumours about the clown. They only jumped on the pus later...
