I knew someone who lost their wallet in Japan he had his California license in it. Someone shipped it to California to his address with the cash and everything in it. All it said was "hope your trip was fun" no mention of who sent it back. They are honorable people.

Hate to say it, but I found it very sad. She's such a pleaser. I realize it's her job, but there's a point where a practical person would have said, maybe this just isn't going to work. I mean, can you even imagine putting Crystal on stage in that condition? Sadly, comparing her to a Golden retriever was an apt analogy! Besides...they probably shortened her life by a couple of years!

As a retired Marine, I spent a lot of time in mainland Japan and Okinawa. Their countries are the cleanest in Asia. They have always been this way. Bathing is an art form. Compared to the rest of the world, they are the cleanest, most polite society. Going from Japan to Korea was a shocking experience.

Not only are the Japanese exceptionally clean but also exceptionally honest. While visiting an aquatic and botanical park in Okinawa a few years back, I realized that I had left my video camera somewhere near the aquarium. I took the little train back down from the botanical garden and explained to the train driver in my broken Japanese that I had forgotten my camera at the aquarium. He called ahead. When we arrived a Japanese employee greeted my wife and I and we followed her upstairs where she presented the video camera immaculately wrapped for protection and only asked me to identify the make. ...done and I had my camera back. In fact I know Jpan so I was not worried that I would lose it. Had this been the US (I'm American) or Europe where I live, that camera would already have been in someone's pocket as new found treasure. Not so in Japan. And when you have an appointment with a Japanese person, they arrive exactly on time. One minute late will result in bowing and apologies for being late. In short...Love Japan!
@handsome-km9cr
@handsome-km9cr 24 күн бұрын
they aren't exceptionally honest. this is just a western misunderstanding of the way things are done here. they steal and keep things they find, but they are selective about it and it isn't based on the inherent value. it's based on how they found the item and it's a type of training they all go through their whole lives. so a bit like pavlov's dog, if they find something exceptionally valuable, but on a train in front of people, that item will be returned. if they find a few dollars in someone's wallet alone in a private corner - that person will never see that item again. i've had wallets lost and never returned, but wallets and keys lost and returned. we've had toys returned, but i also had multiple bikes stolen and a $5000.00 family heirloom left on the train and never returned either. the myths about japan are kind of ridiculous. just because they learn and teach their public differently about returning things doesn't make them more moral people. that's a western lens attributing ethics to a place where it doesn't belong.

I'm about a third of the way through a planned 3 and 1/2 year stay in Japan. Nearly 2 weeks ago, I returned home to California for a very brief business trip. I completely agree with Jimmy - the whole time I missed the cleanliness (as well as the civility and customer service) of Japan. This even extended to my flights. On the way to LA, I took an American carrier because of the more convenient flight schedule, and ended up regretting that decision. On the way back I was on a Japanese airline, and it felt like I had returned to Japan the moment I walked on board.

This was awesome! The monolog was a stitch! BUT! The bit for April Fool's day was even better! Billy Crystal gave an Oscar worthy performance but honestly, with her sweet naiveté Micki stold the show, totally! Jimmy, thank you for being pro Biden, pro fun, a pro at entertaining us when we live in the time of a possible trumpet return. Seriously, you are the medicine to help us survive. I'm glad you had a nice, clean Japanese vacation, but now please don't take a vacation until Feb of 2025! We missed you. We need you. We love you Jimmy Kimmel! ❤😂😊

Regarding foreign countries being cleaner: I took my family to Ireland a few years ago. When I returned to the US it seemed like a garbage dump. Debris that falls off of cars or blows out of car windows, litter that either blows out of trash cans or was never put into a trash can, then leaves and natural stuff. We can chant "U-S-A", as if chanting makes us great, or we can at least start suggesting to local governments that we keep our cities clean.

their immigration policy is "no thank you". and it's even stricter now than it was before. they employ poor workers from other countries to come here for six months then revoke their visas to send them back. it's ridiculous. and they don't want them staying or setting down roots, so they never accept the new crop from the same country. always a new poorer country. they invited a slew of people from the phillipines in 2000, then they sent them all back, then indonesians, then sent them all back then vietnamese and nepalese all the same way everytime. it's pretty heartless really the way they treat people from poorer countries.
