Trump's deficits are going to eclipse Obama's. So of course, liberals (socialist) can say Trump is a fascist. Government is larger now than under Obama. His budget increased both the welfare and warfare state. Just like they will blame capitalism, deregulation, tax cuts etc for the failures of government. I voted for limited government, not Trump. He lost my vote. I'd rather Bernie get blamed for the failures of government, than capitalism. Interviews and fans from Washington D.C. (which is now the richest city in the country, they like ANY politican).

Well, even though Im not American and I dont care if Trump is a fascist or not, that argument is one of the most stupid i've ever read. Fascist would mean something personal. He can be a fascist but he cant ignore the law. And law is the reason that these guys can sit in front of the white house and talk about that. It doesnt say anything about Trump at all. Fascism was created due to people getting tired of communist trying to take over their nation. Just like Germany. Bolsheviks (Communist) tried to take over Germany at the end of WWI and started the German Revolution of 1918-1919. The Freikorps kicked them out. The Freikorps later became the Brownshirts and they stomped any other Communist threat.

I am taking History of Conservatism and so freaken true. You know how Republicans got called Racism, because the south was so afraid of another Civil war that they wanted to keep tradition to keep peace in the 60s. But then they voted for Barry Goldwater who was a republican and pushed for desegregation. Because of that the Democrate party and the media pushed the narrative that the right was racist because their person was going to lose and they said that since Republicans won the south, they were racist. So not true, they won because of the push of family tradition and peace.

@@stephany6417 not exactly. liberalism is very arguably more authoritarian or as you say “big government” than leftism. Leftism coincides with libertarianism. Americans are much more right-leaning than the majority of the developed world so I can understand your confusion though. CNN is definitely more progressive than most news sources and has a higher rate correct information because they have third party analyses and editorial reviews (something a lot of other news stations don’t have). However, even if it’s less conservative than Fox News that doesn’t mean it’s left by any means.

It’s more progressive than the majority of American news sources but it would be a stretch to say that the people who run it have pro-collectivism beliefs just because those type of things are slandered in America. It has a bi-partisan democratic bias for sure though. I just don’t think democrats are left-leaning in my opinion.

@@thedude4k yes but Hitler still followed a lot of fascist beliefs such as abolishment of ethnic minorities, genetically defected and the mentally ill. Although Mussolini did not have extreme intentions to commit such forms of genocide, it is still classed as an extreme ideological belief, which for the most part can be considered fascism.

They they KNOW that the mainstream media isn't the one trying to twist things, right? So when Trump says that there is too much fake news out there because the media is more interested in pushing an agenda instead of reporting news, it must mean that Trump really is a fascist. And then there are the videos saying that every dictator is history has disparaged news sources...and they believe that instead of looking at history and realizing that dictators don't disparage the news - they shut it down and replace it with their own news sources. It's called propaganda. No, the real truth is that the left, as a political body and not necessarily individuals, acts far more like a fascist government than Trump. I agree with Steven that Obama wasn't a fascist, but "I have a phone and a pen...", not to mention the IRS targeting and other such scandals... In fact, the closest I've seen Trump come to fascism is his attacks on Jeff Sessions for not protecting his agenda the way Eric Holder did for Obama.

My goodness. I’ve been binge watching this series and I’ve been reminded of why I rarely engage in complex conversations. It should be so easy: 1. Lets agree on the definitions of the words we are using; 2. Lets check reputable sources on the issue; 3. We draw based and LOGICAL conclusions. If I don’t konw about the matter at hand I shut the hell up. I think step 1 is the basis of at least 90% of every misunderstanding imaginable. First lady was actually right. He was dodging the refugee part of the question. It is illegal to deny refugees. The law is from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Article 14), enacted by the U.N. Crowder knows this and did everything he could to avoid actually addressing that point, and instead shifted to US immigration law, which does not contradict the UN law.

I have a good friend who is Hispanic and worked on the grounds crew of one of Trump's golf courses. He told me that Donald would come by a few times each year and remembered every one of the employees names and would usually buy them all dinner. He told me that Donald Trump was the greatest boss you could ever hope to have. I don't believe he's racist at all.

Dave Kane you're not the first person I've heard say that. One of my cousins was fdny (now retired) and met Trump while on a non emergency call back in the early 90's. His engine house was close to Trump Tower and each and every time they would get a call to the tower for an alarm trip, a medical check etc...if Trump was in the building, he'd come and shoot the shit with the guys for a minute or two. Trump actually showed up on my cousins last day as a firefighter to see him and asked for him by name. This is a man he met only in passing some 18 years prior and to take the time out of his day to do that says something about the guy.
