Trying out some Garry's Mod horror maps found on the Steam workshop. One of them, The Accident, was too long to be included in this video, so it will be coming later.

Hey there, I am the creator of hallways (which is a really old map of mine xD). I think the reason you are hearing weird sounds is I think because of an addon. I have seen this a couple times on other videos where sounds of the map are being changed by an addon. The addon is changing the sounds around you making you hear the wrong things. This is just speculation, it could be something different but some sounds you were hearing are not included in the map. Which makes me think an addon is changing it. Best thing you can do when playing horror maps is to disable your addons. You can do this easily in Gmod. But I like the video, keep it up.

@@TheLibrarianYT yeah the accident is a pretty long one. Any idea when you will post that video. I am curious to see what you think :). I like the criticism you give on the maps, it gives me a good idea what is bad and what is good so that I can implement the good things in the next map.

@@sharbel21 So... unfortunately it seems I lost the footage, and was unable to recover it. I still have the audio, but that doesn't do much good. I could play it again, but the reactions wouldn't be authentic. Since you wanted my thoughts on it: It's very creepy, and I liked how it took place mostly in a small, properly scaled and detailed environment, which made it quite immersive. It kind of reminded me of The Survey, if you're familiar with that game. I really liked the mechanic of having to flick on the lights, forcing you to wade into dark rooms in order to do so. Navigating by lamp in that one area, with that NPC slowly walking away on the edge of the light, was the high point for me. Low point was the area where you had to run from that monster, in which my experience was just dying and respawning a lot, which kind of killed the tension for a bit. The story at the end was good, but I think the map as a whole would have been more engaging if it had been set up more throughout (apologies if it was and I missed it). Criticisms aside, it made me forget I was playing Garry's Mod, and I found myself judging it as if it were a cheap standalone game rather than free workshop content. Amazing work.

15:00 that room is one of the only rooms in gmod that legit creep me out. The only source of light is on the painting, and the fact the painting is staring RIGHT AT YOU. It just makes me kinda shiver a bit every time I see it. Almost like the room is trying to lure you in to face that painting. Very good stuff

There was this one horror map that unnerved me so much. The map name was just 5 or so numbers and it stated it was an “abstract horror map.” It began with you staring at a large door in darkness. I don’t remember how to go through, but when you did, you had to crawl through a small vent then it locked you into staring at a picture of who I think was Captain Chesley Sullenberger (Hudson River pilot). You literally couldn’t move or look away from it and no clip was disabled. At that point I got too unnerved and disconnected. I uninstalled it but I can’t find the map anymore. Does remember this?

A pair of maps I highly recommend are rp_downtown_haunted and gm_construct_haunted. They are like the normal maps except there's ghosts running around, much like liminal hotel, but there's alot, alot more of the Shade as he's called. These maps scared me and my friends shitless with zero jumpscares just the Shade. Some of the stuff we found on downtown: -The Shade, mostly standing, but in one instance running. -Random skulls spawning around the map. -Doors opening and closing by themselves. Some of the stuff we found on construct: -More of The Shade, mostly running out of sight, occasionally standing and watching us. -Darker-than-usual areas. -Everything is run down. -More random skulls spawning. -Lights in the dark room being deleted or dimmed. -Turrets randomly being hit. -Splashing sounds from the lake. -A corpse falling from the skyscraper. -Blood on the mirror in the mirror room. Other accounts include: -Footsteps, as if someone was running away. -A distant scream. It's also said that The Shade most commonly shows up underground or the mirror room, behind you. Oh, and you activate him by entering the dark room, you'll know if you see a skill in the hallway leading to it.

Theres also, from what I know, a HL2 playermodel that eventually disappears, and a fast zombie with an odd texture at the entrance of the dark room, you.can also see someone entering the tower the ragdoll falls from.

I’m so glad Gmod horror is still around. I used to watch a channel called Gloward/GameSomeNess where a few friends went around and explored scary maps. Their earlier videos were better for the sole reason that they weren’t accustomed to jump scares yet, but the production quality did improve a bit as they went on. They comedically mocked the cheap attempts at horror, while deserved, killed the vibe. Oh, and NewfZ had their moments as well. It’s just very nostalgic for me, but now the craft and maps are better, so this is great! I think what does it for me is the exploration aspect, but atmosphere really sells the experience. Now there’s videos with people talking about it now, aw man, there’s a greater variety than there ever was. Yeah, I’d be wary of older maps. While I super like the puzzle, story, and trying to be an actual game experience to them, they have a tendency to kill the tension. Don’t know if there’s any modern take on that with these more liminal maps, but I think it’d be cool. Anyway, I ramble, enjoying your content, have a good day!

@@maxcobar4446 Yeah! I really liked their personalities from what I watched. A good mix of goofy and chill. Nothing too over the top. Yeah, their channel wouldn’t be the only ones to stop uploading. 2015-2016 saw a large decline of classic KZfaqrs from my circle. Icton stopped uploading, Dasboschitt went on an indefinite haitus, Kitty0706 lost the fight against cancer, Megaman765 cancelled all of their comeback projects… It was a terrible time. I know that some of the individual members of GameSomeNess still upload on their own respective channels. GSN was already on a decline of views from their heydays of the channel being called roofroller, but I don’t think they cared. Its nice to take part in watching smaller channels. Hope they’re all doing well.

I remember having a map back then called silenthill or something. I never remembered installing it, so I started it to check it out. There was fog (makes sense for silent hill) and some sorta tunnel. At the end of the tunnel there was a jumpscare. back then I got scared and never played it again.

I once downloaded a map that creeped me out so much. It was just a dark city with alley ways and weird signs on some of the buildings. But i found this one building that had weird music coming from inside so I noclipped into the building and there was a door with blood coming from it and you could here banging from the other side of the door and screaming and there were tiny pictures on the wall and when you zoom really close to them you can see they are photos of dead women on beds, lots of blood and they looked like real photos. That shit creeped me the f out. Sadly I can't remember the name of the map it was a long time ago.

horror_hallways is a depiction of Layers of Fear. A Victorian Era horror game where you play as a failed alcoholic painter slowly descending into madness. It does some pretty original stuff with an amazing surreal and almost soothing tone. The game itself feels like a painting.

If you ever decide to do more horror gmod maps, maybe try the The Grimgrvy Experience trio of maps and Autumn 2001. The former is a very abstract sort of horror trilogy with a vague story connecting to the events of HL2, and the latter is a PS1 style horror map with multiple branching endings. They're both very good.

the second ever steam game i got was called "welcome to the game", it's about trying to hack into the deep web. When you're doing this, you're exposed to things like getting hacked, and serial killers trying to murder you. The game listens to your microphone too. First time playing i got quite far into the game when at some point i heard footsteps outside. i turned off the lights, internet, and waited. I could hear them enter the house. I was looking forward towards the computer and didn't want to turn around but i could hear them breathing in my neck. suddely it stopped. I worked up the nerve to look behind me and there was nothing. And as soon as i looked back to the computer, a person with a knife was right in front of me(Presumably because i made a "phew" sound IRL and the microphone picked it up. I haven't played it since then.

Any chance youre going back to play more games from the weird japanese developer that made the train, store and weird, haunted cave games in the not too distant future? Those games are weirdly facinating. These gmod ones are cool too!

The creepy video playing on the TV wall in the map 'The Underground' looks like an art piece by Olivier de Sagazan called 'Transfiguration'. He's done it a few times, couldn't find the exact video but that's what it looks like.

If you need to get through maps quickly, I suggest running the command “give weapon_suit”, this command grants the HEV suit and therefore a flashlight.

It's weird that one of the maps require you to disable your flashlight through commands, despite the fact that you can create a trigger brush that can disable it just as well without requiring the player to go into the console in the first place.

You missed the major puzzle in the experiment map (involving the physgun unfortunately) where you take a pyramid from each area (aside from cage area) and put them on the sticks
