Nice review, Rob! Ace is the place that sometimes has B&B but right now ours is full of Traeger crap... 😅

Hey, Rob! Thanks for the shoutout, my friend! Ya know, you can snap those char logs in half to fit in your chimney. They break pretty easily. I also use the tumbleweeds to start mine, and am pleased with the results, as well. Great looking turkey breast! See ya soon!

Lookin good Rob! Another good thing about this kind of charcoal too is, when you add more charcoal later it doesn't give off that off putting smell like the briquettes do. Great video brother 👍

Just bought a bag of these. Instructions for lighting aren't that good; trial and error, but once you get them going, oh boy! Lasted ENTIRE 6 hour smoke with addition of more logs after about 4 hours, plenty of heat, consistent temperature in smoke chamber, thin blue smoke. Best heat source I've found for offset smoker.

Man, I totally agree. These are awesome for stick burners. The only bad thing for me is, they’re hard to find. Amazon charges way to much. I appreciate the comment.

About to try my second attempt using these b&b logs. My OK Joe is smaller than yours maybe that’s why I got too hot on my first try. But with those logs it’s easy to pull a couple out and let the temp drop back down. Thanks for the video.

Yes sir. They definitely bring the heat. I’ve been starting with a small amount and a couple of wood chunks. As soon as the temperature drops, I throw in a couple more. Seems to work for me. Appreciate you.

I know a lot of folks don’t you charcoal in their stick burners but I do! This stuff is for real. I’ll use wood to a certain point of the cook and then just maintain the temp. This product is great for that. Appreciate it my friend. ✌🏼

Hmm. These are interesting. I don't believe I've even seen them around. Course, I haven't exactly looked either. Didn't know they existed lol. I gotta say, I'm very glad the dog is breathing!! That's sort of a requirement for life. 😂 just giving you some crap. Ah great mid roll commercial placement! That was perfect. That turkey breast looks scrumptios! I need to get something going on our smoker. We've not done any yet this year. Not too bad on the price. Thanks for the review of the charcoal.

In s great BBQ State like Oklahoma, one would think there would be stuff like this available even at a 7-11! Since 1961! That is before the Detmurds! LOL I do like the fire basket you have in the fire box. Pretty smart. I have the OKJ Bronco, and I love it, but you are really selling this off-set version to me big time, I may get one if I ever get back to Michigan? As for these logs? I say it is more about temp management than the size of the charcoal? I also question the dirty smoke concerns it may give off? Looks like you liked using them though, and my thoughts are probably entirely wrong! LOL $30 is a lot though, but hey, this was fun to watch, and I loved it! Thank You Rob!
@PoorGuyOutdoor
@PoorGuyOutdoor Жыл бұрын
Hey Paulie. It’s definitely about maintaining the temp. These char-logs are great at doing that. They burn steady and clean. From what I can tell. I didn’t have to replace much charcoal at all. The temp stayed the more consistent than every other cook I’ve done on the OKJ. The only dirty smoke was when they were first igniting. I certainly do appreciate you my friend.
@trevorbrit2300
@trevorbrit2300 11 ай бұрын
$30 may sound a lot, but when you factor in these last WAY longer than the same weight and mass of regular briquettes, burn cleaner and more consistently, you actually save money! I used to get through a good 2 - 3 chimney starters worth of briquettes during a 6-hour rib cook, and lump charcoal was a pain because of so many inconsistent sizes in the bag and a good 10%+ was just small pieces of the lump charcoal due to breakage in shipping. In a bag of these I've found a nice mix of 8" long or so "logs" and smaller 3-4" long logs. Allows me to stand the long ones up vertically around the inside of the chimney starter wall, put a few of the smaller ones heaped in the center, get the fire started using tumbleweed starters, and then dump the whole lot once it's about 70% ashed over into the basket of my offset. I added a few more of the shorter lengths directly to the basket after about 4 hours of the smoke and worked great. the other thing is, I didn't need to use too many logs at the outset because once dumped into the firebox, I added a couple of very decent sized applewood chunks on top. Once I stabilized the cooking temperature in the cooking chamber (firebox door full open, chimney flap about 75% closed throughout the entire cook) this came as close to a "fire up and forget" smoking experience as I've ever had! And let's face it, Oklahoma Joe offsets aren't exactly the cream of the crop in offset smokers, but my highlander did the perfect job the very first time with these, unlike the constant battle I was waging with briquettes and wood chunks.

Love the char logs, scent and smoke flavor profile, price not bad either Ditch the tumble weeds, they stink (literally) use a blow torch, it will pay for its self quickly, that smoke you see is from the smelly and very Smokey tumble weed; the char logs have little to no smoke

I second your comment about the tumbleweeds. I have a torch but decided to try the tumbleweeds once. Let’s just say I still have a nearly full bag of it. They put off some stinky smoke. Never again. It will stick with my torch. I want to try those char logs, too. I just scored a bag of the B&B Hickory Lump which is my favorite right now.

@@robinbramlett110 nice, I haven’t tried the hickory lump yet from BB, I’m not happy with the oak lump from bb from a flavor and scent profile, (I’ve had 2 20lbs and a 10lbs bag) smells a little like mesquite (which I like) but figured the Oak lump would be like the other B&B scent from the competition oak and char logs
