Buffalo Wild Wings was sold a few years back to "Inspire Brands". Since then they have become a shadow of what they were.

Anytime a smaller chain sells out to a giant corporation, the quality suffers as they reduce costs to pay off the huge loans. Macaroni Grill, Outback, California Pizza Kitchen, P.F. Changs ....All have gone down the toilet compared to what they once were.

Considering the prices for chicken wings these days, it absolutely is. $16 is already pushing it as is for a dozen - least from personal experience - but for $25, they outta make your tongue orgasm from how good they are.

I've been to BWW once or twice In my life, both times I got their hottest options to see if they really were hot. I was super put-off that the wings were served in single use paper trays like a school cafeteria or something. The wings were actually very spicy, but not memorable at all. The main thing I remember is the super cheapy presentation of the food. Glad to never return.

BWW priced me out. I get 24 jumbo wings from my local butcher for about $12. I pop them in the air fryer and toss them in whatever sauce I want (including sauce from BWW). I LOVE wings and I always enjoyed going to BWW, but the price is just ridiculous. I understood when there were shortages, but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.

I do the same thing with my air fryer, a little tip if you don't already: Halfway through the air frying cooking, I drizzle a little oil on the wings from a squeeze bottle, toss, then continue. 380 for 20 minutes total cooking time, and 2 minutes at 400 to give them that extra crisp at the end.

Most of that price goes to paying for the peanut oil to cook the wings in. The wings are cheap. The flour is cheap. The peanut oil gets rather costly. If you want to cook wings right they must be cooked in peanut oil to get that professional taste and flavor. My bet is they are using vegetable oil and charging peanut oil prices. If you go to the store and need all the separate ingredients. The peanut oil is going to be the one that hits you the hardest. And you only get 3 proper cooks out of that oil before it starts to break down. You can still cook with it for days if you want. But the people will taste the difference between fresh oil and cooked oil.

Just to add the price is a scam. Just to be clear. Straight out highway robbery. Peanut oil doesn't justify those prices. But it is the most expensive ingredient that goes into make wings.

Before they got popular, wings used to be super cheap. They were the cheapest things in the meat department, mainly because of the meat to bone ratio. They lacked the meat other chicken parts had. Oh, those were the days!

@@kathleennorton7913 they are still relatively cheap at the grocery store and where I live you can still find them for a decent price at some locally owned restaurants, 50 cent wing add on orders aren't uncommon. I don't know who TF these people think they are charging $4 per whole wing

On wing day, they were 49 cents, really big, and delicious. I sure miss those days. They weren't that long ago, maybe 8 to 10 years ago. I'm glad for the memories, at least.

Actually, it looks like the pattern on the tie, which is very attractive in my opinion, is the acanthus leaf design, a popular motif in architectural carvings. Example abound on ancient Greek buildings, etc. Now a popular subject for woodcarvers and others.

$2 per wing piece is insane! I quit buying restaurant wings years ago. Making them at home is cheaper and they're always very crisp because they're hot out of the fryer. If anyone is interested in a lime flavored wing, I used the sauce from Kenji Lopez Alt's Vietnamese Caramel Fish (from his Wok cookbook) on some once, and they were amazingly bright with citrus flavor. I don't know why I watch these reviews since I don't eat much fast food, but I love them. RotW is so earnest and does such a good job of describing what he's eating--even for non-fast food eaters, it's somehow interesting and entertaining to watch him. Love these reviews!

You cannot get wings to go. Their skins will steam in the package and become rubbery. We always get their wings sauce on the side (unless it’s a dry rub) and order the extra well done. Some locations ignore this instruction and we do not go back to those locations.

@@sirgerbilmacintosh9101 I went there once and ordered chicken nachos as an appetizer. We never got the nachos until we asked the check and that’s when got the saddest cold nachos. They refused to remove to the nachos from our check. We had to ask for a manager because we didn’t want those cold nachos. Even though it was only 3 of us they still charged us a 18% gratuity tip and expected an extra tip.

@@ttdttd4211 Not all countries in the world have a tipping culture. Many just charge enough for the meal to pay the wait staff. I hate it. I had begun to use Uber just because I didn't have to worry about what the tip should be .. it was just part of the bill. Now drivers are demanding tips, and if you don't tip, they put it on your record and other drivers won't pick you up so that sometime you can't get a ride. I don't use Uber any longer. Let's just stop tipping and make businesses pay enough to keep workers. Tipping is just one of those surcharges we pay that we shouldn't have to pay.

That's why it's so important to double fry skin on wings if you're going to sauce them. Or else the sauce will seep into the skin and make it an unpleasant texture. Sometimes rubbery sometimes slimy. Buffalo Wild Wings really played themselves. The price alone takes 3 to 4 points off.

Anyone complaining obviously doesn’t go to wingstop or bon chon for wings. All places selling wings (that are somewhat worth eating) have their prices set where you pay at least $20 for 10 wings. Take it up by $10 increments for 20 and 30 piece wings. That is just the current cost of wings. This all started to happen when many chickens were harmed by the bird flu outbreak late last year.

a lot of places that serve chicken wings probably cook them in an oven. While it's okay to do so I find generally they come out moist but somewhat rubbery at times depending on the meat. When I use to make hundreds of them a day for a bar we would toss them in flour with a nice blend of spices and bake them partially, chill them and then finish them off in a deep fryer before dressing them with sauce. They would always come out super crispy but still moist inside and I feel like that is the most desired result for any chicken wing lover. The second best method in my opinion is on a grill for that more charred smokey flavor, depending on what you prefer.

BWW fries them… oven cooked wings come out great where I used to work. We would bake them in the morning twice then bake them when someone ordered them. Fall off the bone delicious perfect everytime.

I work at BWW and 2 things: We get 2 new sauces every so often, they are limited time offers unless its a super big hit generally though its a until supply runs out. Last month we had honey garlic and it was a massive hit too bad they didnt keep it though. Personally I also dislike these sauces though... the rubbery skin is normally from when it steams with the sauce in the box. its better to get it on the side (no extra charge) so it keeps the crispy better.

Dating myself here - when I was a freshman in college in 1992 I worked at a bar/restaurant that had a special during football season. Buy a draft beer and get wings 10 cents each. Boy do I miss those days! 👴🏻

25 bucks for 12 wings. Remember back in the early 90s when bars would sell wings for 10 cents each? You could buy a bucket of them and a couple beers for 10 bucks. Prices are really out of control for these now.

I can't remember which wing joint it was, but I snuck a peek in this room over by the kitchen and it had like 20 gallon jugs with pump tops and that was their sauce room... the wings are cooked in a basket fryer and put on a paper basket and then taken over to this pump room to pump some sludge on the order and call that good... I told my friend to convince me to go there that I was never going to go there again.

Back in the late 80's early 90's, I worked as a short order cook at a bar and Tuesday was 10 cent wing night. Even accounting for inflation, 2 bucks a wing is criminal.

Thankyou for bringing attention to this important issue. Last time I went to buffalo wild wings I was HORRIFIED at the small size and expensive price of these disappointing chicken wings. I promised myself I would NEVER go there again. They are a rip off and frankly, if they shut down for good, I would not even care.

That price is crazy considering i could go to wingstop for 10 wing combo with fries and a drink and it comes out at like 13-14 bucks. BWW has fell off from where it used to be

The price is enough to scare me away. Chicken wings are not expensive so they are just jacking up the price to rob their customers. I would think $1-1.50 per wing is the medium to high range.

Call Gorgon Ramsey. He may be able to help BWW with their problem of reheating frozen food and calling it "Fresh". Furthermore, the term "boneless wings" is a slap in the face of real wings. There are no "boneless wings". I wish they'd just call them mini chicken tenders and be done with it!

As a former BWW employee (I worked as a cook and as a waiter) the only "defense" I can offer is yes, the skin will be rubbery since you got it to go and ate it at your house. Even the best chicken wing restaurant in the world will end up with rubbery skin if you get their wings to go and eat it at your house. Crispy anything will become wet/ chewy when it's covered in a wet sauce. Now the price? Oh my god is that price ridiculous. $2 per wing? I left BWW in 2020 and even then I thought it was pricey when the 12 wing was $15 and now its $22?! Goddamn. BWW is not bad food but it's certainly not worth $2/ wing

That price! A few decades ago, the wing was the cheapest cut. That's part of the reason wing joints started popping up then. A cheap cut which resulted in a good profit margin. Now?! $2 for half a wing... that's insane 💥

A year or two back, I bought a moderately priced Air Fryer. Been doing wings in it ever since. Took a bit to dial it in, but I never looked back. All you gotta do is toss them in your favorite sauce(s). Plus we've had a handful of these establishments in my town, and all of them just aren't that good anymore, and haven't been for a while. If people knew how easy and simple these place's sauces are to make, they can definitely save money AND have way better wings.
