Hey Meredith, I read an article from NPR recently (dated Jan. 26) about a nonalcoholic drinks festival in Washington DC. One of the organizers said "All of the early bartending manuals include nonalcoholic drinks" but after Prohibition "people stopped treating people who don't drink alcohol like adults." It's a really interesting article if you want to google it. It also mentions there are nonalcoholic bitters that might be interesting to try. I don't know if any of this would work for content on the channel, but I thought I'd mention it in case you're interested for personal use. Also, good luck to you and your partner. Trying to get pregnant can be incredibly stressful, especially if there are medical procedures involved. I hope it all goes well.

I have EDS so I handle anesthesia weird (it's actually recommended for those with the condition to remind their anesthesia team during pre-op talk) and was getting wisdom teeth and rear molars extracted and was laying there with the mask on my face during count out and just looked at the tech and stared into that man's soul like "shouldn't I be out? I'm not out" and he got wide eyed and held the mask tighter on my face like he was trying to smother someone with a pillow. I asked about it when I was in recovery and the nurse said "Oh. You actually remember that?"

I have CPTSD and needed to have an MRI which is on the No list at this point, so they gave me twilight. They thought for SURE I was out. ear buds in place, put me in, started everything up and I sat up and plaster myself to the inside of the machine. I am Blind. My husband is Very soft spoken., and finally had to Crawl Inside the machine, because I Can't hear him, to come GET me, and I Can't See him. It took about half an hour, for him to realize as I'm trying to crawl out the back of the machine, that I just couldn't hear him. Once he had ahold of me, I stopped freaking out like a switch had been flipped.

Story about Twilight anesthesia I’ve had a few surgeries in the past 5-6 years and the second one the anesthesiologist told me they were going to try twilight method. After my surgery I woke up like an hour later than expected. When they came to see me afterwards they told me that I had an “interesting reaction” to twilight. Instead of sedating me and allowing for the surgery to continue I started to try and get up because the surgeon said I needed to be repositioned so “Wait I can do that for you.” Anesthesiologist said it was the first time he’s ever had full conversations with someone under twilight and I have total amnesia from right around when he injected me with the cocktail to waking up afterwards. They had to put me under general anesthesia to continue the surgery because I wasn’t going out lol. Since then I’ve told every single anesthesiologist that I do not want twilight, and they always give me a look of “how do you know about this” and then I tell them the story. Edit: oh and when I woke up I almost got violent and they were ready to restrain me because mixing twilight and general is a whole nother business lol

I used to be really stressed about anesthesia, but genuinely, having surgery made me less afraid of dying. I understand it’s different for everyone, but the absoluteness of the nothing I perceived under anesthesia-not even the *awareness* of having missed anything at all-was really reassuring. I felt groggy after I finally woke up, but after the fact it’s been a helpful experience. (I also used to be worried I’d say/do something crazy after being under, but apparently I was just quiet and tired both times, so that’s another fear out of the way lmao)

I don't understand this surgery, maybe if it is necessary to stop a life threatening illness or birth defect but just to stop sperm production? that its literally vile and sounds like slam metal lyrics. Why would a man intentionally want to have his nads severed? I'm gagging just at the thought of it. Birth control and condoms are a thing if you really need to have sex that often. Not trying to shit on you for doing what you want, just saying it's extremely excessive. Vasectomies used to be a sentence for sexual crimes against children and rape.

@@nitroxylictv I already had 4 kids with my wife and we didn't want any more kids. So instead of her spending the rest of her life on hormones messing her body up I chose this option. My high school did Anything Goes my sophomore year (might have been junior year). I was in the pit orchestra, and rather than being down in the pit under the stage we were all in white tux jackets up on top of the set just out of the main stage lights. Since the show takes place on a cruise ship, the set was built to look like the side decks of an old time cruise ship, and we were the ship band out on the upper decks. It was a lot of fun, although we had to actually look presentable rather than the filthy pit goblins we were for most shows.

@andrewamann2821 Жыл бұрын
@@juletid99 I was asking about your blood sugar because a seizure is generally an energy-intensive occurrence, even if it only shows outwardly as just suddenly passing out for a while. If you wake up with signs of moderate-to-severe hypoglycemia (feeling excessively hungry or thirsty, headaches, or shakiness, for example...), it could be an indicator that your passing out at inopportune times are maybe a bit more than just being tired. Maybe I'm reading more into what you wrote than you intended, but, unless there are other specific driving reasons for what you're describing about these occurrences, you might want to talk to your doctor about potential neurological concerns. I may be some random schmuck on the internet, and I know I'm grossly underinformed on your own situation (and I don't care to pry about it, either...), but having been saddled with my own issues with malfunctioning brain meat, as well as that of a number of my friends, growing up, I'd rather advocate for people ruling out conditions that could cause them severe harm if left untreated.

According to cocktail historian David Wondrich, a dash is about 1/4 of a teaspoon. Personally I use that measurement when making old cocktails. It makes more sense when using syrups or liqueurs than the more modern interpretation of 1/8 Teaspoon. Here are some more old measurements used in cocktails: - 1 Wine-glass (or sherry glass) = 2 Ounces - 1 Liqueur-glass = ~1 Ounce - 1 Pony Glass = 1 Ounce

I had my Vasectomy done in the back of a van (nicknamed the nutcracker). Instead of anesthesia they offered me some valium which worked wonderfully. The only bad part was being able to smell the skin burning as they did it.

Yeah I'm a heavy sleeper and I rarely dream so most of the time sleeping basically feels like a time skip, I have near zero environmetal awareness when I'm sleeping. Went camping at a family friends cabin when I was a kid, I was sleeping in a room with windows facing the back where they fell a huge tree in the morning and everyone was shocked that I slept through the massive tree trunk slamming into the ground. That being said I understand fear of anesthesia, not because of the loss of conscious awareness but anesthesia affects people differently, and is dangerous when administered incorrectly.

Everyone has a different reaction to going under... personally it's no more than a hard nap for me. I pop back out of it quicker than I wake up on an average morning. Hopefully you both experience similar. (Freaks the nurse out when you start having a lucid conversation while being wheeled out of the OR, too. Bonus!) 😉

What a fab video. Really like the conversational format. Nice to see you not poisoning yourself even if not all of the cocktails were to your taste. Felt like I was in a room with friends having a chat about stuff and making cocktails - my idea of a fab afternoon / evening.

Having gotten my wisdom teeth out a couple months ago, and similarly being freaked out of my gourd about it because I'd never been put under before, it actually went pretty well. The worst part was just getting the darn IV in at all; I have thin veins, and the surgeon had to try the needle three times before he got it right. The constant flicking me in the crook of my elbow was really starting to hurt by the time he switched to putting it in my wrist, but once it was in, I was out so hard I didn't even remember falling asleep. Nothing particularly notable happened beyond that, just woke up an hour later, groggy as hell and with a mouth full of gauze, and shuffled my way to my mom's car.

As a long time viewer I enjoyed the more free form style of this episode. I love the primary edited style more for the majority of videos, but seeing the fun back and forth camaraderie that gives a glimpse into the more personal lives really makes for an enjoyable viewing experience. ive had to get heart surgery and be put under for it (surprisingly enough having your ribcage folded open is not something they want you to see xD) anyway as for interrupted flow of conscience: i do remember being driven/carried in a bed with wheels to the surgery room from my room in the hospital but my memory stops a minute short of actually getting there and its less "going to sleep" as "immediate cut to the next moment" more similar to pressing skip 30s in a youtube video and being in a totally new scene
