Hello Foodie Friends! Today we are trying Jamaican food for the first time ever! A local restaurant called Kool Reggae opened recently in Gander so we had to give it try. Is Jamaican food good? Let's find out!!

The festival should be dipped in the sauce or eaten with the jerk chicken 😋 , if u eat it on its own, it will be dry. This is my parents restaurant ❤️. Best wishes to your channel, I hope it grows and become global.

Well if you all had the oxtail, it would have blown your mind 🤯. Also, try to curry goat, you won’t be disappointed! I believe the creaminess of the curry you’re referring to is coconut milk-it elevates a lot of the dishes.

Forgot to You've also got to sample the stew peas dish. Kidney beans stewed down with beef & pigs tail

It's the jerk chicken and jerk pork eaten with the festival. Jamaicans love curry...curry goat, curry chicken, curry shrimp. My favourite is the oxtail & broad/ lima beans with Jamaican rice & peas, when cooked properly can't be beat. The best patties are in Jamaica...beef, chicken, beef with cheese, shrimp, or vegetable. The national dish is ackee & saltfish(cod)with fried dumplings, but I'm not an ackee lover, so I just eat the cook up saltfish by itself or mixed with macaroni and the dumplings...love fry dumpling, but like the festivals, its best eaten warm.

Festival is normally eaten with fried escovitch snapper fish on the beach. It goes well with fried fish.

The jerk chicken looks a little bit anemic of the jerk marinade but I am glad you like it.

It's a bit funny that the two cultures aren't more intertwined. Newfoundland would send salt cod to Jamaica in exchange for rum (screech) since the beginning of time. But that's the end of the cultural exchange, it's so bizarre! Yeah I'll have salt fish, yeah I'll have rum, and that's it! For well over a hundred years!

@@NerdyNewfie what's good guys. You should try out culture food called Trinidad foods such as doubles, aloo pie, Roti, buss up shot Roti. Dhall puri Roti, stew chicken, shark and bake and so on. The guy with the glasses, I noticed your southern accent you have an Irish accent mixed with your southern, are you part irish and southern Texan

Most Jamaicans think jerk chicken is better than curry but I'm the exception I think curry chicken is way better

Trust me most of us do not prefer jerk chicken. Curry goat,curry chicken,cheese patty and oxtail is what most Jamaicans into. I can speak from experience

If you eat the right jerk chicken from Portland, Jamaica, I'm sure you'd say jerk chicken. The best ingredients should be used and those are mainly found in the parishes that grow them

The festival should not be eaten by itself. You can have it with any kind of meat or sauce but no body really eat it by itself.

Too bad the owner is never in town tried it 2 years ago when i moved to Gander from Ontario where they have some unreal Jamaican food so i didnt have high hopes for this place. The guy was nice and the patties were good but he catered to the folks out here. Its not real authentic Jamaican if it doesnt burn your mouth and keep you coming back.

The reason we started this channel was to try new things that we would normally never try so yes we don't know anything about Jamaican food but that's the point of the video you're average joe trying new food. We also try to be funny and not so serious because it's just food. There are tons of food review channels on youtube that tell you everything about the food and why it's tastes the way it does that's never going to be us but hey we're glad you stopped by have a great day 😊 👍
