Hi Mate. Nice video👍 I think a lot of people waiting for this test. In my opinion the gear box is made not for higway and the solution of this, is change front sprocket to 15T and we find optimum. Best regards from Poland!

Thank you, I'm glad I had the opportunity to try the bike with 15/ 45 gearing, we will get it out in the bush sometime and see how it goes. The gearbox is close in gears but maybe it's like that because of the motor size. Cheers from Australia.

@@bazz6670that's the problem. I don't understand why they didn't made a 500cc with 48 hp. My Brixton Crossfire 500 XC has 500cc with 48 hp and the engine is a dream and don't need any modifications.

@dertechniker8867 it would be spot on with a 500 cc motor, the motors in these bikes have been around for a long time in the road bikes like the 450 sr and nk, they just retuned them to have power lower down.

@@bazz6670We are always nearly a year behind on getting all the bikes when the rest of the world gets to enjoy them. We also do not get all the variations of the models that most other parts of the world get. Example: Tenere 700. We only get it in standard trim. It seems the motorcycle industry seems the US less deserving. We are afterthoughts and get the left overs. Yes I’m bitter but happy for those of you that get early access to new inventory. Cheers 🍻

How does it wheelee with your set-up and this set-up and compared with stock? I don't mean stunt riding, more like the effect on getting that front wheel up when riding over wet greasy logs on an enduro trail. Is it easier or harder to lift the front wheel with the modded gearing?

@bazz66706 сағат бұрын
@scottastell9415 I haven't ridden that bike off road as it doesn't belong to me, I just have the 15 tooth front sprocket on mine. 15 is good and still tractorable in second. I think off road I wouldn't go the 45 on rear.
@pawelwolski13164 күн бұрын
I wonder if this is not too much of a compromise? How will this gearing work on slow trails? As stated before, riding back to back 14 and 15t already compromised some acceleration/tight roads fun factor and slow tech type of trail riding. Sucks that the transmission higher gearing is so short for highway riding.
@bazz66704 күн бұрын
After today off road in very muddy conditions I'll stick with 15 tooth and not do rear at the moment. It is still tractorble in second on hills and good on hwy. Everybody will have different needs and likes. It's not really a compromise, I have changed gearing on most bikes I've owned.

@@kvndleee Doing the 45-tooth rear will drop the rpm another 200, personally I'm just going to use the 15-tooth front. my bike sits on about 5400 rpm. Hi there; 1- Isn't that thing on top of the speedo blocking your sight? 2- I wonder how the 450 would've behaved (i.e. gral. vibration and revs) @ 120/130/140 km/h which are closer to real speeds for long trips. Since most of us do not have the luxury of a truck to take the bikes to a trail road, we might need to ride them at highway speeds for hours. This is way, at least for me, highway speeds are a dealbreaker at selecting the right bike.
@cangaroojack7 күн бұрын
Hey mate! I can't speak for personal experience since i've not ridden the bike, but reports from trusty journalists here in Italy all say that at highway speeds (here the usual is 120/130 and 140 for the eventual overtake) all say that the engine stays smooth as butter, but the revs are decently high at cruise speed with still some legs for the eventual overtake. So the consensus is that it's not ideal for touring, but a couple of hours of highway are no problem, might need a rest stop here and there if you're a taller biker! So far the only thing i don't really like is the fuel economy
@ozmarineboy10907 күн бұрын
it goes fine at 130kmh, i havent tested faster yet till after 1st service. it doesnt block my sight at all, i'm 186cm tall

Thanks for the comment, it looks like view is blocked because camera is below chin height but not problem with visibility. With the gearing changed bike drops rpm a bit and is quite comfortable. The twin is very smooth. I can say it is way better for long distance than my old dr 650.

@@bazz6670that is correct Baz; 1 tooth down/up at front equals 3 teeth up/down at rear; this is the widely accepted general rule of thumb; as an ex racer i know this to be true; stock gearing on 450MT is 14/47 so 15/45 would be roughly same as 14/42; that's a big difference; i think i will leave 14 at countershaft and go to 44 at rear with chain adjusted for wheel all the way back so that for longer periods on the tar (say all day) maybe carry a 15T front that can be swapped over.
@markhills39226 күн бұрын
@@ozmarineboy1090 absolutely need to keep balance between front and rear to avoid what they call 'chain snatch' as the suspension moves through its travel; it might be ok to go 16 (if there's space) on the front for a road bike but for a bike that is going to see dirt, rocks and mud, we need to keep space between the chain and the engine cases; built up mud/debris at the countershaft is bad for chain wear but a small misplaced rock can be all kinds of ride ending if it gets lodged between chain and cases; speaking of which, i don't like the look of the solid countershaft cover either.....i'll be drilling a few slots/holes in mine so that dirt/mud/rocks has somewhere to escape.
