Matcha and Oatly are totally where it’s at - love it that way.

Matcha is really good! Everyone in SoCal loves matcha so it’s not trendy. It’s a part of everyday life. We even have matcha lattes with a shot of espresso, double the caffeine! People choose matcha as an alternative to milk because the caffeine hit is easier and doesn’t make you crash like with coffee. Remember, matcha is grounded up green tea leaves so if you don’t drink tea then it’s obviously new to you. The second location looked authentically Japanese and you both ordered drinks that were with a darker matcha mix so then it was going to be bitter. Think of it like chocolate and it’s cacao %, the darker it is, the deeper the flavor and can get bitter. Once you found your favorite matcha place, just stick with it! The Coffee and Blondie looks good!

Théo, Brian, I think it's time to accept defeat and that matcha is simply not for you. LOL. Watching your facial expressions and reaction was funny though. I was entertained!

It’s an acquired taste. I have it every morning. Try it with just a bit of pure maple syrup - not much. I add cinnamon, ginger and turmeric. Extremely healthful.

Matcha is tricky. Either you like it or hate it. It is best a little sweet and hot is a must. Better with any milk of your preference. I love it but I feel it's too rich so I prefer to drink it alone or with something savory sweet such as baked cheesecake. Anyway, very interesting video Theo. Can't wait to try some Parisian matcha 🎉🎉🎉

I realize how much effort you put into making your videos from the Mirror, always holding the phone at arm's length. It's such a dedication, Theo! Do you get different looks from people while filming, especially since you usually do it in English among French speakers? Please talk about your filming experiences in your weekend vlogs. and I liked the Brian's Style 😋

Thank you so much ! I don't get that much weird looks as the phone is more common than filming with a big camera ! But it makes people smile when they see we are speaking in English while filming

Matcha and oat milk are soulmates who really balance each other out. As long as it’s not too strong and bitter, an oat matcha is my obsession! No cow milk matcha here 😂

Matcha is definitely a trend in the west, but it’s been a staple in east asian cultures even before the industrial revolution. I personally like matcha and can eat/drink it everyday, but I don’t judge people who don’t like it. If you tell me you don’t like it I totally understand lol

Traditionally, matcha wasn't supposed to be drunk that way! People usually only drank matcha during a Japanese tea ceremony (chanoyu). During a full tea ceremony, 2 types of matcha are served-usucha "thin tea," and koicha "thick tea"-but these are only sipped in tiny amounts. For example, the bowl of usucha served to a guest is only enough for 2 1/2 sips! A sweet is served just before the tea, but sugar is never added to the tea itself. Good quality matcha is very expensive and only meant to be savored in tiny amounts, preferably in a meditative setting such as a Japanese tearoom provides-not like where you are! Yes, it does have a "grassy" flavor, being made from entire tea leaves. Good matcha tasted in the appropriate environment can be a kind of emotional experience, but that's an entirely different matter from your situation there. Maybe the desire to bolster the traditional Japanese tea industry was behind the relatively recent popularisation of matcha as flavoring for desserts or as sweetened caffé drinks.

I don’t care for matcha, but it seems to be an acquired taste - like coffee. I don’t think most people love coffee the first few times they drink it either. 😂 Matcha does seem to have some nice health properties but it’s not worth drinking it just for that.

Best as a non-pure Matchadrinker is the matcha latte, try desserts:Tiramisu, not strong matcha flavoured ice cream, pastries with matcha custard like croissant, viral spinned wheel pastry, coux crackelin, soy milk matcha custard/pudding, crêpe with matcha custard... thanx Theo

I honestly agree with you that the matcha trend is more hype than anything else. I get that some of the drinks and pastries might be good, but is it really that much better or unique compared to a good coffee or flavored pastry? Maybe not? Lol. Thank you for today’s fun video.

Matcha drinks, in my area of California, is not trendy. It’s just something that’s available for at least 20 years. My brother’s wedding cake, 16 years ago was a matcha cake. It was very good. It’s an acquired taste. It’s a smoother caffeine hit than coffee. I like it cold, with natural mint, and honey.
