Lance is shopping these three watches - Sinn U50, Seiko Marinemaster, and the Tudor BB58. He has seven inch wrists and is a little skeptical of the Tudor hype. In this video response I share my experiences and opinions. I would love to hear yours, please put them in the comments section.
I hope you get something of value out of this video Lance. Best of luck!

I owned the BB58 and U50 at the same time. The BB58 was absolutely amazing. Comfortable, versatile, handsome and the perfect size for my 7” wrist…but I rarely wore it due to fears of damaging it. In recognition of that I purchased the U50. After having the U50 for almost 3 months, I sold the BB58 to the AD I purchased it from. I do not have the same level of worry about the U50 because it’s so resistant to damage. Btw he was really pleased I approached him first. I miss the perfection that the BB58 was on my wrist but don’t miss the guilt of not wearing it. And I love the more rugged look of the U50. And how ridiculously comfortable it is as well. Wears like a 40mm. It also looks good with a sport jacket.

As an owner of the BB58 I think it’s worth every penny. This was my first Tudor watch I ever owned and was really impressed with the overall quality. In my personal opinion I think it is the most versatile out of these three options. The BB58 is truly a “strap monster.” I’ve worn it with suits and also on nato straps. It’s a fantastic piece.

I have a Sinn U50 S (the all black version). I wear it on a genuine Isofrane strap. It is the most comfortable watch I can remember wearing in the larger watch era (last 15-20 years). Having said that I have a casual primarily office job, so I can wear a diver 24/7/365. The least I have worn it in 7 months is 1/2 a day. It is pretty much 24/7 including sleep and shower. It looks like it just came out of the box. Not a mark on it. Previously, I wore a Sea-Dweller pretty much 24/7 for about 6 years. Not nearly as comfortable and did take dings and scratches. The Dweller is a great watch though- don’t get me wrong. I love the U50. It is very unique and I have yet to see another one. 7 months and still on the honeymoon it is so thin and comfy.

I agree with Bruce's points but my takeaway would be this: If you are moving to a one watch collection or if your diver watch is your everyday watch, then go for the bb58. If you have a different beautiful everyday watch and a diver watch is a tool watch you want in your collection then get the mm300 or u50

That MM300 looks amazing, really impressed by it, although as Bruce mentioned top heavy and could be a chore to wear as an everyday watch. I have the BB58 Blue Which I've had for a year now and can say it wears amazing, so comfortable and just looks well refined. I'm not a big fan of the Sinn but I do like the bracelet design of it. It's not top heavy - it's a chunk no doubt, but ten minutes after putting it on, you've totally forgotten it. Remember, it's got a decent weight bracelet countering the case heft. I have a BB Chrono and it's lovely - however, the MM300 (I purchased used a year ago) really does feel special to wear. It's really understated quality. I won't let mine go. Additionally it really does hide its dimensions well. My SKX looks bigger on the wrist.

I had the same debate with myself a few months back. BB58 or Sinn U50 SDR-T. In the end I went for the Sinn because of the larger case size (I have a wrist of 7.5in) and the tegimented case. I love the fact that I know basically nothing will scratch my watch and therefore I wear it to whatever. Another pro is the bezel. It's a 60-click bezel which feels incredible. Cons of the Sinn: the clasp. It's outdated and not nice to use. Hope they update it someday.

The Black Bay is pretty much everywhere, and the Seiko, as awesome as it is, has no access to the movement for regulation purposes. It does, however, have one of the best clasps I've ever used (IMO). As for the Sinn, I think it hits all the right notes at a great price. Definitely my pick.

Sinn is very utilitarian - not very versatile. Seiko is nice, but for my wrist is too big, if you can pull it off, than it's a good watch to consider. BB is the most versatile and elegant watch among those 3 in my eyes. I would suggest to consider Sinn 104 or something from EZM collection. Another watch to consider is Longines Legend Diver, but unfortunately it lacks a good bracelet

This has been a question I've been asking myself for months. I'm a serious sinn fan and have a couple already so that attracts me there. The Tudor has the dressy aspects all covered and is slightly different to anything else I have... in the end i bought a previous gen seamaster to avoid the conflict. "If you are into retro design, the Tudor is up your alley". Seriously? Seiko MM is up that alley too. The design of Seiko MM has not altered much since the original inception and has a longer history compared to Tudor BB which was launched in 2012. The only issue that may be a factor is the thickness.. but hey, it is a professional tool watch designed for professional diver.

I own a Sub and a couple of other high end divers but you're right. The MM300 really is absolute quality. Clearly in your opinion too! I didn't go for it only on size (6.8 wrist) but did pick up an MM200 for general dive. Not the same quality and attention to deal, which is of course reflected in price but still very substantial. I got a VC 4500 black, a Speedmaster FOIS and just got my U50T. The Sinn is the most comfortable to wear and it attracts no attention at all which is exactly what I want for an everyday watch. You can just put it on and forget about it. The lego hands and AR coating make it so easy to read the time and data. Also the T steel Sinn uses has a "warm" feeling(feels a bit like rubber) on the wrist comparing to my other two SS watches, which makes it even more comfortable for long period wearing.

Second comment on the video. Bruce, I liked that you picked a watch and didn’t just double talk the whole time. Too many KZfaqrs are afraid to give a specific recommendation and that’s annoying. People want to know an opinion or your idea of a clear winner and they can agree or disagree but it’s much more satisfying than hearing someone talking around the issue and giving a trophy to everyone.

Having “juggled” with these same choices (except for MM 1000 w/ GS mvmt), I landed with the Sinn U50 SDR. I couldn’t be happier. While I don’t have experience with the MM300, I would personally advocate for the Tudor of the 3 choices here. The fit, movement, versatility, and, like it or not, Tudor name carry this watch the farthest of the three, in my opinion. All great watches, but Tudor is the way to go, just don’t pay over retail for it.

MM300 hands down. The finest quality built of the 3. Superior in every way to the other 2. The Sinn U50 is too small. The U1 is better balanced. Plus it's the original of the 2. The Tudor is just yawn. It is a lot of hype.

There is what is the best watch, and what is the best diver. And there is also what a person is looking for in a watch. I think the BB58 is virtually un-debatably the best watch of the three but the MM300 is without question the best diver and the most mesmerizing (a commercial diver would care about the first part). In the end what is a person looking for in a watch matters most. If you need a profesional tool to back-up your adventures or your livelihood, you might chose the MM. If you are more of a pure watch enthusiast you might get the BB. If you are a sportsman you might chose the Sinn. And so it goes, of tastes and colors volumes can be written.

I had the same conundrum... Tudor or Sinn? I'm glad that I bought both. The Tegemented Sinn is tougher than the Tudor, and is really comfortable on the wrist. It's my beach watch. But the Tudor has a better movement and looks good. Sinn offers first class after sales service through It's UK service agent, and for me that was a factor. The Sinn is DIN 8306 compliant so it's totally trustworthy. Mine has chronometer level accuracy, as does the Tudor of course. This Seiko is too tall for me. Tough choices, I’d still go with the Seiko or even another color Sinn. Not sure why, and don’t blast me for it but Tuud is kinda boring and stiff……yeah I know, you could say that about the Sinn but for some reason the Tudor is kinda stuffy. I appreciate all the tech and innovation, call it subtle however I feel like the other two are fun in their own way……like asking a German to translate a funny joke in English to German…..always comes out rigid without soul but funny and with character, especially if you’re have a drink.😂 The MM is unique, solid case, a bit tall but Jesus, what a purposeful watch that also looks great at a concert or wine party! Seiko, Sinn in another color for me…..certainly not the Tudor. Not much happens with the Tudor besides adding numbers at your tax consultant.

I’m not sure where you live but I just went into my Tudor AD and they had plenty of Black Bays. Also, if you don’t intend to dive with it or even get it really wet get the Tudor. For myself, I’m looking for a new dive watch and my options currently are the Sinn U2, U1, U50 (in this order) and the Damasko DSub50. With a 7 inch wrist all of these will work. I’ve tried on the Black Bay 58 and thought it was a little small on my wrist (also 7 inches). If you really want a Tudor, get the Pelagos 500 meter. By the way, I’m a diver and have been for many years so I know dive watches.

As a tool watch MM300 ticks all marks excellent build quality with zaratsu polish and grand seiko derived movement little chunky but I also have 7 inch and lug to lug is manageable and it beats sinn which has selitta generic movement, next choice is the BB58 but it’s more dressy in my opinion and little bland.

I have the Sinn U50-T fully Tegimented version and a Tudor Black Bay Steel 41 mm. Both excellent watches. My Tudor isn’t the Black Bay 58 but the build quality and materials are basically identical. The Tudor is definitely a better quality and finished watch as it should be for the money. The bracelet is 10 times better and so is the bezel with its precision and I love that it has a stop at 12 o’clock. The Sinn really shines in its case construction and materials technology and is crazy thin for 500m water resistance. The bead blasted grey and funky handset limit it somewhat to casual/sport use. The Sinn bracelet is cheap and the clasp the level found on $100 watches. It’s a great watch and I love how durable it is but the Tudor is the better watch from a quality and build perspective. The Sinn at less money is a solid value and a great no-fuss daily. Neither watch is going to age well from a style perspective and are not “classics” even though the Black Bay is closer to that but the faux patina won’t date well I don’t think. That’s why I went with the Black Bay Steel because it’s a bit more classic even though I sacrificed thickness and diameter.

Thanks for another most informative video, Bruce. These are all great watches. The Sinn U50 is the one I pine for. Just looking at that beautiful blue BB58 on your arm, I can’t help but notice that the bracelet is already scuffed in places. Easy to rectify, but a pain to keep doing. The Sinn has no such problems… truly an everyday tool watch, but possibly cumbersome over the long run, as you pointed out.

All three are great choices, I have two weeks with my Sinn U50 full T version and it has the updated Sellita SW300-2 movement with a longer PR of 56-60 hours. I love the Sinn because it's a Pro-Diver and tool watch which looks good on rubber or even a textile synthetic strap.I sold three Tudors and 7 Seiko Divers so the Sinn U50 T is staying. I will compare it to my Oris 65 Chronos limited edition ice blue dial which arrives today from Holstein CH and see. One Diver/Sport/Tool in Sinn and the Oris as a "Chill" piece.

One consideration that is alluded to but not explored, is the likely depreciation of the three watches. If the prospective buyer is one who likes to trade up then the likelihood is that the Tudor will be the one to buy. Ultimately, I buy what I like the look of on my wrist and don't flip them but appreciate that's not always the case

Having previously owned the Seiko mm300 and Tudor bb58 and then come close to getting the Sinn and a Doxa recently… I got another mm300. Price wise you can get the Seiko and Sinn for around the same price and I think quality wise they are all pretty similar. Tudor is the best “one watch”, daily wearer and the most versatile of the 3. For a normal human being it’s the sensible and obvious option. The Sinn is a great tool watch and is a bit different but ultimately would be in third place for me. It’s a bit too different and modern for me. The Seiko is perfectly imperfect and it looks and wears much better in real life than on paper. For me it works well along with my Reverso and completes a great 2 watch collection. It’s different enough that it’s a conversation piece at meet ups or whatever but it’s not weird or odd.

I have the Tudor which has been my daily wear for a few years now, just got the U50. The U50 is a better deal and tech, Tudor has the provenance and a tad more dressy looking and should hold better value. Can't go wrong with either there. No experience with the Seiko, but I will get a Grand Seiko some day.

Bruce is right, that Sinn is brutal. From the bezel to the crown, a brute. There is no delicacy to turning either. If a Viking were to go berserk and start loping off heads, he would wear that Sinn. But.... he'd be doing it in style. It just looks damn good.

I definitely agree with a lot of your thoughts here. I tried the MM300 (green) on at the AD the other day. Although lug-to-lug I certainly was fine with my 7.25" wrist, it was a bit tall/top heavy. I don't feel that way with watches like the Turtle, Willard, or new 62MAS. I feel like I would be knocking it against every other door knob I encountered. It was beautiful, just not for me. I've only tried the BB58 blue and the silver BB58 on straps, but they wore quite nicely. I think it would be well balance size and presence-wise on my wrist with the bracelet. The feel of the Tudors is top notch. I respect the Sinn U50, and think it's cool, but I liked that word brutal. I think I'd find it neat to wear something very modern for a short time, but might tire of it later. I don't think I would tire of the BB58, as it is a well rounded watch. For what it's worth, a buddy of mine recently picked the black one up his first stop into an AD near a major city. They sold him one on the fabric strap, but ordered the bracelet for him at a big discount and it showed up within 2 weeks. He's really pleased with the watch. Pro tip: Order the Uncle Seiko half-link for the bracelet for a better fit.

Hope that Lance has the iconic SKX007 on jubilee in his collection. Don't worry about the minor imperfections as it should satisfy the Seiko Diver urge for decades on. Plus a cool watch with it's own swagger. Tudor logo/snowflake is a turn off, daily reminder of not scoring a Rolex. Better off putting the 5k to Rolex or Omega fund.

I have the sinn and Tudor. Both are so comfortable, so tie there. For me, the bb58 is more flexible as stated, but next to the sinn, seems like a fashion watch. I agree with others, if you are going for one, go for the bb58. If you have a dress watch or everyday watch I love the sinn, it’s so fun and is def more rare and intriguing. Also, I think watchbuys says my u50t has 56 hrs.
