In 2018 lost 120 pounds on a meat only carnivore diet. I have been working to maintain that weight loss ever since. December 7th I had an extended tummy tuck (skin removal) and diastasis recti muscle repair. I recorded my pre-op, pieces of the surgery, and documented a lot of my recovery for this video. Let me know if you would like to see more follow ups and ask in the comments any questions you have for me.
I also documented things day by day on Instagram and have the whole journey saved to my highlights. If you are looking for more details on my surgery and recovery you can come find me on Instagram @lauraespath

Laura I had this exact surgery 37 years ago, and listening to your journey brings back so many memories for me. I remember the extreme pain of having all my tummy muscles fixed. At the time I was working a full time job and took the time off to have the surgery at a very respected hospital. The one thing I was surprised about and a little shocked at the time is that my health insurance covered the whole thing. I loved the results and was really thrilled with the outcome. But this surgery even though I was young was very difficult but I never regretted having made that decision. Congratulations on everything you have accomplished and the encouragement you have given to countless people. 💕

I worked in the OR with a plastic surgeon for near 20 years. I’m enjoying hearing the before, during and after from the patient’s POV, because that’s what I used for pre-op teaching. You’re giving great info, And it’s very needed ❤ The ONLY reason to have this type of surgery is to because YOU want it, and I was so happy to hear you say that.

If I was younger I'm pretty sure I would do this. I am 71 years old, and I just don't want to put my body through any unnessary trauma. I've read that the general anesthesia is damaging to brain cells, and at my age, I feel like I need to preserve all I can. 😅 But it sure would be nice to have that flat stomach! You look great!

I've considered it, though my extra skin is maybe not quite as much as some, & is mostly from carrying pregnancies all out front w/a short torso. I do still have the "flap"/roll of skin, but when I'm at a healthy weight it's not so bothersome. I gained about 40lbs during first few yrs of my menopause *decade~ because that's what it truly is, imho~ which made the extra skin more cumbersome as it filled up existing fat cells. Weight loss after menopause? Now there's a challenge! (*Didn't do any HRT, so that may extend things as well?) I agree~ it would be a bonus to have that flat stomach, yet at 58 yrs old, I'm not inclined to put myself through elective major surgery. That being said, I think if I'd had a chance to do such in my 30's~ oh, heck yes =)

I had tummy tuck and muscle repair also about 5 years ago. Best decision ever. I only took 3 days off work also and my coworkers didn’t know I had surgery. I hid my drains in baggy shirts in the arms. I only took pain meds for 2 days and slept in chair for 2 days. I feel my recovery was very easy and I started lifting weights again at 5 weeks. I never wore any compression . My doctor didn’t recommend it. It was a great reward for all the hard work! Thanks for sharing your story.

You truly don’t owe a single soul an explanation. It’s no one’s business but yours. I think it’s fabulous that you did the research and had the surgery done on your own terms after all that great research. I mean you could have gotten a rhinoplasty which would have been all about vanity, but your tummy was way more important to you. And the tummy is not a vanity thing but a wellness or well being process. I totally understand … I think you are fantastic and tell everyone I know they must watch your channel!! Of course, that’s an improvement from years of being 2x! Carnivore now for just over a month after 3 years of keto and the weight’s finally coming off again - stalled halfway through my goal! Your before pics and your “before surgery” pics were helpful to see, and your story of this surgery was also really helpful for some perspective! I don’t know if I want to deal with a tummy tuck at the age of 63 or 64, but at least I have you to thank for informing me clearly about what it might entail. @@ericadavenport2039I agree. I’m 63 and am looking into it. I’ve looked into it about 3 times in the last 20 ish years but now I feel I am ready. Finances and my concern with recovery is the only thing holding me back now but at least now I know it’s something I will do as soon as I am financially able. 👍🏼☺️ Previously I knew I still needed to do a lot of emotional work and I also was a binge eater and sugar and carb addiction and emotional eater so I was concerned to do this during those times. But now at 63 I’m finally emotionally 15:24 ready but now need to get finances in order to pay the right surgeon. I do get nervous regarding the recovery as life has been a bit tough and my tolerance level isn’t as good as it had been but I still think and feel it’s a great idea for me and I’m hoping to make it happen for myself. 💝

The cough and sneeze information is helpful. I have pretty severe allergies and asthma; I cough and sneeze A LOT. I'll need to prepare for that.

Thank you. This is so useful. I’m going to have to get my abdominal scar revised and probably a tummy tuck soon. I’m nervous about it.

You did great! You look great, and 20k is a spit in the bucket for the benefits you gained! You can always get more money, but health and WELLNESS, get it while you can! You deserve happy! And a flat tummy! I got spayed because of stage 4 endo, and I got 7 weeks off work. I had to have the big scar from left to right, but it is very low and healed great!

Hi Susan... 🙋‍♀️ I heard about Carnivore, the BBBE Challenge Dr. Ken Berry, I decided to investigate it and Laura's KZfaq video Journey was one of the first ones I viewed. Saw couple of others but I was inspired by her so I have been on Carnivore for two and a half weeks and I have lost 10 lb.. It really does work!!! I still have quite a journey to go but I say all this to circle back and THANK LAURA, also to order the LMNT tthrough her link in Gratitude for everything she does to show us the way. 🙌💖🎯😍😊
