On this episode we feature Gordon's 1990 BMW E30 Turbo Budget Build. He purchased the car in very rough shape and spent the past year restoring it to it's current glory. It's still running the factory 2.5L inline 6(M20B25) with an $800 ebay turbo kit and supporting modifications. He built and tuned this awesome BMW himself, watch along to learn everything about it!

Long time builder here...owned/operated chassis dyno/fabrication shop, did mostly one off forced induction builds....I really like this build. It's executed well for the investment and really created a nice package. Well done and well put together for something that a lot of people can attain and build without a crazy investment.

One important thing a lot of people forget about is power to weight Ratio. With a build like this where the power to weight Ratio is perfect low horse power is super fun

Juan Colon you don’t need more than 2k to properly turbo an m20😂😂😂what the hell. He said he has an eBay turbo/kit. Which is about 500 depending on a few things and DME(engine management) you can use a stock dme with a access port like i am or megasquirt is $800 and that’s it.

Well bought my first E30 (3/31/1990) It will hold 500 on the lower end so 400 with a 100 hp margin that's a daily today.. LOVE the job keep it up....

I was a BMW tech back in the late 80's to early 90's. I loved the E30. SOOOO easy to work on. Back then they were still $10K which was out of my range as a young lad. Hell they're still pretty expensive but one of these days I will find one to fix up. You've done some great work. Where did you get the turbo exhaust manifold?

"yUo GeT whAt yOu paY fOR" - the mantra sung by everyone who pays retail for "brand name" EVERYTHING (odds are it's eBay stuff, rebadged and then resold at a 2x markup with a "warranty", which they can afford to do since it's so marked up) and/or thinks it makes them cooler to overpay vs finding deals. Stock engine, $800 eBay turbo kit...fucking shit up. Awesome!! I've got a turbo K24 swapped MR2 running an eBay turbo as well, low boost of 15psi @ 424rwhp. I'm torn between turboing our mostly stock E30 325iS or K swapping it since stock $600 K20A2/K24A2's are safe to like 600hp vs having to spend $2k to rebuild the M20. Decisions decisions...

The majority of you're paying for is the r&d, marketing, and stock holders. The Chinese get don't have to worry about any of that stuff so they copy it with inferior metals and sell it for 1/5th the price.

@@Jamxknife Ahh, I forgot about all those suffering stock holders who need to charge 5x what something's worth. Funny thing is I've NEVER met a struggling stock holder but I've seen plenty of people who don't buy parts because they can't afford them. Oh, and don't fool yourself...their stuff is still made in China...throwing on some clear coat and/or laset etching a logo doesn't make it better except to the naked eye. China it is!!
