This is the first time to track with the new channel format. I had a blast and cant wait to do more like this.....but maybe go a little faster next time.

I know it... I did the official Ranger turbo swap in a few hours. Later when I kicked off the channel again, I wish I had that from the beginning. The pinto will show most of it and I might get another stock ranger just to do it again

You got to get rid of those deep gears. Go to a 3.42 or even a 3.23 youll see a huge difference. I have a turbo Mighty MaX with a 4G63 5 SPEED. the higher gear ran much better.

That's a holset hx35. It's pretty laggy on a stock 2.3 but I bet it would rock on a 4.0L

How much Boost (PSI) got the engine?

It's anywhere from 14-20psi depending on boost control.

Thanks for the comment! So far my cam choices are either stock ranger or pretty wild from Boport. Anything I manage to get, ends up being run though.

Would a 2.5 be good to turbo at low boost for a daily?

If it has forged Pistons it would be fine with higher boost or daily driving. I haven't boosted a stock 2.5 though.

I've got a turbo 2300 and the temp just shoots up to 210f - 215f with a 180f thermostat. I think my head gasket could be gone. Would you be willing to make a video where you test your engine if the gasket is gone? Or is that something you have to remove to know if its gone? Great video's lets start a 2300 track event!

I think that's a good vid. Usually when I bust one I fix it fairly fast and don't stop to do a video. I will add that to the list though. You might have a stuck t-stat. I don't know why but I have had probably with aftermarket thermostats all the time.

Do you know of any good headers for a 2.3T, without something wildly expensive, or should I just stick to the factory manifold? Looking at buying an engine sometime in the near future but it doesn't have an exhaust or turbo with it. Not doing a crazy build, just need something so I can drive it.

For the stuff I drive I really try to stay with a ported e6 manifold. I've cracked header style header I've tried.

Honestly, unless you want to move the turbo, a ported E6 is going to be as good (and more reliable) than any header you can fine. Avoid those Chinese e-bay headers!

Okay, I appreciate it! I figured the cheap eBay ones would be trash, just didn't know if there were any good options out there. I suppose I'll try and hunt down a E6 manifold. Thanks for the help

@2300gearjammer how much torque you think a non-wc 84 T5 could take before exploding into chunks?

That's a really tough question. I think it all comes down the clutch choice. A stock 2.3 diameter clutch will keep a t5 alive for anything. A 5.0 swap clutch though is tricky because an aggressive clutch will bust third gear even with 200hp

Ha it was good, it was actually a new clutch. Now it's hating life. 2. Not to the driveshaft loop. If I get serious it will be on the short list. I have a driveshaft history lol

8.50 is the rule. I recently ran something else there to know that but honestly the ranger should require a helmet at any speed. ⛑️⛑️⛑️

🤣🤣Naah it would go 9s with a C4, a brake with the right converter because of not spinning, riding the clutch and lost time in the shifts of the manual lol. Alls good, its yours and having fun with it and thats all that mattets anyway
