Would love to just see up close pics of where and how you attached everything. You could make it a slide show. I have this same gazebo, but Target stopped selling the canopy so looking at other options.

A company called Garden Winds sells the replacement canopies. Just make sure you know whether you have the Madaga model which has a larger top tier (53" inches square) or the Summer Veranda model with the smaller top tier(36 inches square). They have seasonal sales on canopies.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. We just moved and our new place had one of these on the back deck...we have never dealt with snow (being from Florida) and my husband didn't know we were supposed to take the fabric off before winter.....first snowfall and the metal part in the middle caved in. You have given me somewhere to start, may have to adjust since I don't think snow could accumulate but maybe I'll make the panels removable. Looks amazing.

You are welcome…. I have made an change since I made this video. I have added corrugated metal to the top of the gazebo so the rain wouldn’t come through. But you can’t see the metal from the underside… if you live in a place with snow, the corrugated metal will be strong enough to support the snow.

How did you attach the 4x4's to the vertical post? I realize you cut off the screen rod and the top off the post at the screw mechanism. Since we can't see a close up of the outside of the horizontal 4X4's, hubby can't visualize the set up. Thanks so much. Appreciate your help.

Thank you for the video. Off topic a little. Any suggestions on how to heighten a steel frame gazebo by adding steel pipe to the ends of the poles ? Welding is not an option .
@slicedpage4 жыл бұрын
now a year later I am replying to my own comment after getting a heart from FYF today! finger on the pulse eh FYF?! So for anyone needing to heighten a steel frame gazebo....I used steel tubing that was slightly narrower than the gazebos. I cut four pieces a few cms longer than the height required and drilled through both a hole large enough to insert thin steel tent pins Then cut and bent the pins to size so they don't slide out. Now I have to go back in time to tell myself what to do geeeeezzzzz.

Do you happen to have any more guidance on how you did this, including any dimensions or close up photos, what you used as far as securing the wood together and to to the frame, etc? I'm not a builder, so I have no idea what I'd be doing. Any guidance would be appreciated!

Ahh !!!! Half a foot of snow in TN yesterday just destroyed our gazebo. I had this idea figured I’d see if it had been done and behold ! Do you know what hardware you used to connect the 4 by 4 to the metal frame ? I know those frames are hollow inside so want to make sure I get the right stuff.

Same...my husband left the cover on ours and the first snow bent the whole middle. Did you ever end up making it? I'm about to try.
@mando82jr6 жыл бұрын
It's been about a year and a half since this video. Hows it holding up? I noticed lots of questions on how u mounted the 4x4s. Anyway you can do a quick follow up video with closeups. From phone to KZfaq. No editing or music needed. This is really a great idea. I'm thinking of tackling this myself.
@fortyyearfitness6 жыл бұрын
i actually did this in 2013, but made the video in 2016. thats a good idea to take a new video showing it now. one thing is the stain has faded from the sun. another downside is when it rains, the stain will come of a little bit and leave reddish water marks on the table i have underneath. but they easy wash off.
@susanpillarella-bryant47495 жыл бұрын
2 questions ...is this possible to do with and arch and 2nd composite decking.... also can you give me the cut measurements for the 4x4s

Im thinking under my gazebo and watching your video. Yes u are right i also buying top every year and also sick and tired replacing them. I was thinking nothing will hold (post in the middle) it will maybe collapse. So, what is the longer wood should i used to hold the middle? The 12 or 10 to 4x4 wood? Urs is no problem bcuz all the same size. Also, how you put the wood frame you made on top of the metal frame?
@fortyyearfitness4 жыл бұрын
Nashorncare Support I would go 2 -12 foot long 4x4s and attach them to the metal posts, then 2 -10 foot 4x4s , attach them to the 12 foot ones. And for the center ones, I would make the 10 foot span one pieces and then the 12 foot span into 2 6 foots pieces attached to the 10 footer going across. I used this to attach the 4x4 to the metal posts. --www.homedepot.com/p/Simpson-Strong-Tie-BC-ZMAX-Galvanized-Post-Base-for-4x-Nominal-Lumber-BC40Z/100375216?MERCH=REC-_-searchViewed-_-205824747;313335389;304184861;303626612;303626549;303626561;303626591;304185226;204397448;204673963;206142493;206842581;308260338;308260340;308260343;204673967;308260083;-_-100375216-_-N
