The guy says 2 million lira is 1700 american dollars. So when Jerry paid the cab driver he paid 75000 lira which is equivalent to $63.77 according to that established exchange rate. So he did get ripped off, Kramer was right. Also in 1995 when this was aired, $63.77 would be the equivalent of $105.46 today. So it would need to be a pretty long ride, but not unheard of, since sometimes unworldly travelers might just take a super long cab ride from the airport instead of taking the time to figure out trains etc.

Nah, I could even see Elaine doing this. Kramer is probably the only one who wouldn't.

I think that’s the joke, though, too. Because this way they can have George sounding all rational and logical when he asks Jerry why Jerry even cares - when in reality, George is usually the one obsessing over things like this.

Every bit is funny in this, but I don't know why Kramer pushing Jerry out of the cab makes me laugh the most. It was hilarious to me when this aired, and it still is now lol

Maybe Kramer saw Elaine on the balcony with Maestro? and didn't want Jerry to see her?

I love how Louis-Dreyfus subtly has Elaine show irritation at Jerry's questioning of the Maestro over two takes, before she actually tells him to quit asking. Very impressively carried off, IMO.
