Yeah lmao, but I think it did help for some with different styles. For example, I usually zoom in when I draw the face which makes the composition look smaller when I zoom out, so I edit it afterwards. I guess it's expected for some that they tend to limit the space within the screen when they zoom in, overall he managed to deliver the idea the best he could and that's great

@@isthisloss9777 yeah, its the same for me too. But it isn't too much of a problem if you know when to zoom in and zoom out. I keep my sketch phase mostly zoomed out, and my backgrounds too. I only zoom in when I do lineart and even then not up to full zoom because its not necessary.

@@SHRIIMPSUCKS what about fingers on Mobile, you literally have to see the pixels all the time and the proportion gets fucked like a normal face with a giants body with short limbs (I can't afford even a PC, so don't judge atleast, my parents are not that much capable, so try to understand)

@@zeeshanhazari I think thats just a you problem(not saying this in a rude way) I draw on mobile now since my pc is currently broken but I don't usually have these problems I think its more of where you are with your art id recommend sketching it traditionally and then doing the line art and colouring digitally or you can learn to fix these problems on your own digitally

That flipping tip is actually really important and so necessary to make high quality smooth pretty art. I forget to flip all the time.

About fliping the canvas, if you are watching the video and thinking: "I don't see any difference" Don't worry, you are not supose to. The flipping works only for the artist making the piece, not for you The reason is that as you work on a drawing, your brain gets used to see it, and things that should register as errors will not. thats where you flip, it makes you brain reinterpret the drawing, now it will see all the mistakes, as if you were seeing the drawing for the first time.

If you don't see any mistakes on an unflipped image and you are not the artist, then there isn't even any point to doing it. As the observer, you already have fresh eyes. If you don't see any mistakes, there aren't any. If you see "mistakes" in the flipped image with already fresh eyes, they aren't really mistakes, and by changing things and then flipping it back you're probably just removing character from the drawing. The point of flipping is to get fresh eyes on the subject, not to "balance" something that doesn't necessarily need to be balanced since the unflipped image is ostensibly its true orientation. By the way if you want to draw a perfectly symmetrical image, use symmetry mode... or don't, because it looks awful and unnatural.

If y’all are lacking inspiration, then I usually have a gallery of some other people’s artworks to reference later on when I need inspiration. If you lack motivation though, then I’d just recommend taking a break or just doing some quick studies.

Using one brush for everything is fine! But for sketch you can use a pencil brush since that's what I use if you have it in the art program you're using ofc and lines I use a simple pen brush and colors that's for you to decided cause there's many ways to color

The sharp pen brush, regular pen brush, and the Air brush are my 3 go to brushes for everything. Since i used the paint bucket to color, then just tidy my drawing up with those 3 brush lol

Canvas can also be rotated to check for imbalances. That is especially important when drawing on real paper, where the only mirror is the real mirror and it's hard to make fixes with it. Flipping the drawing upside down heavily eliminates symbolic vision, which helps a lot when checking for objective mistakes.

Also, another issue with the zooming in thing is that you forget the proper size things should be in, and when you zoom out it’s gonna be very tiny or the sized will be in proper

in my opinion this guy is one of the better art channels who gives art tips to beginers the most art channels who do these kinds of stuff usually just say do this without showing what to do or just shows you without telling you the importents of it. i am not saying there are no other who do this but it's not many towards the others who just tells or who just shows

If I saw what I think I saw, I'm gonna call Bad Advice on the section about starting with clean single-stroke lines and calling it a "sketch." Sketching has more than one phase. What you suggested is literally the opposite of what should be done when gesture sketching. Any figure drawing book will tell you that blocking in forms is about putting down your vague, blurry and detail-free mental image on a page or canvas in a way that captures the essence/macro-scale proportions of the subject you're sketching. And that involves drawing in a quick (and sometimes messy) way. What I got out of this as your suggestion is basically skipping this step altogether and just going straight to the cleanup detail sketch phase, which is how you get proportion errors.

What I normally do is do the sketch first zoomed out, then once I'm ready to do line art I zoom in for quick easy strokes that look neater. Then I zoom out frequently while doing this to make sure it looks fine, and continue on from there until I am done with the line art. Everything else is done zoomed out :)

One of the art self critiques I found with my art, is the zoom problem. I tend to zoom in so much I can see the pixels because I want it to be perfect. However, on the full picture you can't see the different because it was such a small problem that only I, the artist, would know is there. Do I still do it? Yes, because its a bad habit, but I'm working on it by making a challenge drawing where I can't zoom at all. Thanks for the video, the tips are really a great help.

I haven’t done much yet on the art end of things, but I’d say that’s either a bad (or good depending on perspective) habit that I personally learned when editing photos. Normally for me that means it’s something I tend to do when making memes by hobbling two photos together, I usually use zoomed editing to ensure the image overlay/masking is pixel perfect so that nothing looks off when zoomed out and the image is smooth as can be since a lot of the times when using pics from the net off games, movies, and other things it’s commonly saved as jpgs so you need to edit out the white space if you want to overlay it onto another image such as meme templates.

The sketch advice just made the process so much simpler, thank you so much. I still struggle with the second sketch tho but make simpler lines just to get the general idea and proportions allows me to have a starting point directly with my tablet (I don't have to make the sketch on paper and scan it and all that jazz). It saves me a lot of time really

As for the zoom in stuff, drawing without zoom in a screen-less tablet is reeeealy hard... What i do is to keep one of the overview tool and zoom out often...

if I remember correctly the wobbliness in linework is tied to your heartbeat. When your heart beats your arm reacts a little with results in a slight hitch in your line. Some people can control it with a lot of practice but you can also draw lines in one quick motion, the longer you draw your line the more heartbeat affects your linework. Basically what I'm trying to say is that the best line artists are probably vampires.

Bro, you literally saved my life with line stabalization. I watched dozens of tutorials and literally NONE of them have mentioned that. Holy crap thank you. Now I can stop doing "Ctrl + Z" after every crappy line I make till the perfect one appears. Saves ALOT of time when you add it up.

I love the "flip the canvas" tip. Hearing it made me flip the canvas more, and now I flip the canvas loads not just to check if it looks alright, but also just to draw some lines easier. I find it easier to draw lines going to the right usually - so if a line is going to the left and my hand just won't do it well then I flip to draw that line and while it's flipped I check :)

For anyone using the IRL operating system: the zoom out/flip image hotkey is called painting with a mirror behind you. It's a great tip which artists have been using it for hundreds of years. For people making digital artwork, opening a new view and moving it to a second monitor is also a solid solution.

As a beginner digital artist (or have at least allocated a total of 24+ hours of drawing time since I got my first drawing tablet a month ago), the reason why I zoom in often is because I don't have a keen eye or have a good sense of connecting line 'hitboxes' when it comes to drawing circular shapes or lines. It's really difficult to do when I zoom out from my canvas, especially when using small brush sizes. Sometimes, I'd resort to increasing brush sizes to an abysmal amount so I could accommodate such or... zoom in. But hearing what is said on the video, I understand why this is a bad thing and I am working on that aspect. Most likely the reason I could find on myself about how this often happens is probably how I zoom out or possibly haven't found a suitable and comfortable zoom level for myself.

i was always ok with how my sketches and lineart themself turned out but had issues with proportioning things and never understood how it was just so easy for everyone, i thought zooming in was helping but turns out that is most likely causing my issue. also while the i never had an issue with brush i used for sketches, the one you recommended still helps in making it a bit cleaner so thanks for the tips! this was genuinely helpful

for the zooming out thing; I always noticed, with traditional drawings of mine, that my proportions were a lot better when I were drawing smaller. I think it's a similiar thing here

i draw zoomed in all the time because im on a phone and its nearly impossible to draw on such a tiny screen, but i zoom out often. thats a good tip for every artist. like traditional artists do it as well to see the big picture of a painting
