Winsor & Newton Professional Watercolour Paper: 640 gsm is perfect for creating cyanotypes that can be hand finished with watercolour. The paper holds up well to the cyanotype photographic process because it can be washed in water repeatedly without cockling. A cyanotype leaves a negative image with a bright blue background on the surface of treated paper. This negative white area can then be finished by hand with watercolour; here we used colours from our cadmium-free range.

So many things wrong here. It doesn’t need to be in subdued lighting. Just not UV lights when coating paper. If you cover your windows you will be fine. Don’t use a water color brush, or any brush that has a metal ferrule as the chemicals can react to metal. A foam brush or many kinds Japanese style brushes will work. You will only need the two hours of exposure on a cloudy day. 15 to 20 minutes would be plenty on a sunny day. One minute will not be enough unless you are using a high powered uv light box.
