Those platforms and station area look great, again inspirational stuff for anyone with limited space/money/time. This channel and a few others like it are the perfect antidote to the current Model Railway press which I really find nauseating. Good stuff.

Congratulations on what I consider to be the best model railway channel on KZfaq. You don’t start your videos with a long boring chat on what you will be doing, you just get straight into it. In some case it can be several minutes before the video actually gets round to showing the practicalities of a build. Additionally, you don’t bore viewers with repetition as many other videos do, they seem to forget that it is possible to pause the video or replay a segment. Keep up the good work.

Thats very kind, we do try not to repeat some of the errors of other channels. Average view time on you tube is less than 3 mins per video so you cant afford to waste time.

Some of the worst vids are loco reviews, I watched one when after 10 mins he still hadn't taken it out of the box! Another was 15 mins long and he never actually ran it on a piece of track , I guess he saw it as a collectors item to sit on a shelf, my locos have to earn their keep running on layouts!

I just realised id posted a reply on a question about the platform heights rather then saying well done to you and Doug! So well done looks great! The main reason i like this site over some of the others on here is your usage of carboard and mostly cheap and second hand items.Keep up the great work.

Hi Michael, thanks for your support. As you have probably seen our entire exhibition layout is made from second hand and recycled materials, which gets some comment. This layout will also be nearly all second hand. I really like working with cardboard as it's cheap and easy to work, more projects planned. Thanks again for watching

I'll be storing it on the end by a wardrobe. I'm in 'negotiations' for where I am allowed a larger more permanent layout. It's a slightly more modern update of a station that was removed in the 50s by where I live.

Looks really nice. My station platforms are made out of amazon boxes and cereal packets. Buying pre made platforms are so expensive to its good to see that you have a solution to the problem. Do you plan on weathering the track on this layout. I just noticed it was quite bright and it would only take a little bit of paint on a brush to make a massive overall difference to the look of the station.

m.kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z5NydauZnNjYYqs.html So far building-wise I’ve added lighting, added a floor made from foamcore board, made the famous mickey wreath from flocking (thanks) and am about 1/2 done with my “contemporary Steakhouse impression” restaurant. still need to find appropriate scrap wall paper as carpet, and install more people, and a Christmas tree inside. Ultimately this will our Christmas tree “railroad” with each building sitting on a foamcore base so I can add scenery bits to it, pools, flower boxes, grass, parking lots, etc. Thank you again for the budget tutorials, I really am quite inspire to try new things and learn new skills as a result.

If you're looking for accuracy, the standard station height in the UK is 915mm (Give or take 25mm). On OO/HO gauge scale that translates as 12mm give or take 1/3 of a mm. You can buy 12mm pieces of plywood for real chea If you're building stations from other countries here are the measurements: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Railway_platform_height#Height_categories Hope this helps :)
