I defunded the BBC 12 years ago and in that time I had just one visit from a “licence inspector”, I said “no thanks” and closed the door. @@MYBIGKINDHEART yes, I think "digital communication" is mostly only practised by younger people. I'll explain - whenever any of their contacts come to their house, they're on the phone or texting almost since that person left his own premises to come over. Then, when arriving at the front door, the idea of having to knock on the door is almost unheard of.!!! Most usually the guys waiting in the house are under earphones anyway, so they wouldn't even HEAR anyone knocking on the door. It's a totally different lifestyle to older people, for which older people are not trained or accustomed to. It goes back to the days, yonks ago, when anyone knocking on the front door must be a special person that needs the kindest hospitality. While I do not disagree it is also problematic, sure if you say nothing and do not give them access they can't do anything at that time, but the problem is these goons get incentives for getting people to pay or convicted in court, and so there in an increasing cases of the BBC or well Capita goons going to court using TV van detection data to get a warrant to enter and search the property and the courts are issuing them every time, because if capita say " oh we have TV van detection evidence that the person was watching then it forces the court to issue it, aside from the fact that the TV van almost certainly do not exist now as they originally worked by detecting specific EM signals produced by the old tube style TVs when it received a signal and well new flat screens put out nothing of any value, but the insidious part is using it to get the warrant so they can then turn up at your address with the police where the warrant is issued and it forces the matter because if you refuse the warrant you are arrested and the TV goons gain access or if you accept the warrant the goons get access and once they do all bets are off as they are not above fabricating evidence, one example is when a goon was given access and he took photos of the TV Which was turned off, but in court the picture of the TV had been digitally modified to have an image on it, luckily for the individual they had hidden security cameras in each room because if they did not it would be a case of your word against their word and their photo evidence

I no longer watch ANY television programs anymore. If I'm bored I watch you Tube or cast my vast collection of memory sticks filled with my photos taken over the years. They have asked me twice in the last year if ill 'be in' on a certain date and both times nobody came. I wouldn't have answered the door anyway.

Older people are less likely to give the guy who knocks on their doors the bums rush. They are targeted for that reason. I've had red warnings ect, but the little man from aunty has never, ever, in four years knocked on my door. Why?, hes seen me from afar and won't risk a black eye. 👁️😢👍

Moved to a house that had been empty for six months Got letters so threatening and distressful we took them to the police We had to write to them explaining we just moved in and dont even have a cooker nevermind a tv. After that we never got a tv and used pcs only They still keep up the threats even though we dont watch live tv and weve told them its not the 1970s, there is so much more to do with a screen that watch live tv

For a nation that believes so much in the rights of the individual, the crap that capita pulls on a daily basis is unbelievable. They have the ingrained attitude that you must be watching TV and are guilty of breaking the law. So much for innocent until proven guilty. If you remove their access to your property they can use this to apply for a court search warrant to enter your home, usually backed up by the police, Although this is not a criminal matter and they are present only to "prevnt a breach of the piece"???. The fact that so much power is given to a private company to gain access to your home so that YOU can prove to them that you are not guilty is a discrace that needs more media attention than the usual " Aunty is a national treasure that is great value at only 30p a day"

I didn't renew my licence on Jan 1st and unplugged my ariel. You need a TV licence to watch ANY live TV or anything on iPlayer. This also includes anything live streamed on Amazon Prime etc. (e.g. football or the Australian Open Tennis last year). This is total bonkers. I listen to radio mostly and don't really miss live TV. This system cannot continue after 2017 when the charter is renewed. I used to be a big supporter of the BBC but it has lost its way.

Watch a game streamed through the internet and there is a delay, not much, but enough to be legally very significant in that it means it's no longer a live broadcast. It's a delayed 30-60s broadcast. That time difference makes all the difference.

We do not watch TV in our household. Just myself and my wife. We don't cheat because there is nothing they have that we want. We are high earners so £160 a year is nothing, yet I still get the blackmail and threatening letters from TVL and Capita. I keep them all. I do pay for my mother's TV license fee and a whole lot more. She needs her TV. She wrote to me today when I asked her if she would like me to send her a DVD of a film I have that she may like and she replied with the following. This last year I find I cant concentrate too much and just watch rubbish on telly that doesn't need me to like ...the soaps...24 hours in A&E...a place in the sun....border control and nothing to declare 🤣🤣🤣!! Xxxx I am happy to pay for her TV License. I do not require one !

I don't have a TV licence because I only watch DVD'S or Netflix. There is absolutely nothing on the BBC that I want to watch. I refuse to pay for something that I do not want or need. If any of these so called TV licence enforcement officers (capita) call just shut your door and don't engage these salesman in conversation. They have no powers, they cannot read anyone their rights.

They did for years - it was a promise, no fee for over 75s - but disgracefully they reneged on it a couple of years ago. It's a common British phenomenon- make promises but renege. Same way with the Dartford river crossing fees. The Promise was to charge only until it equaled/paid back the construction costs. That should have ceased in 2002 but oh no, 20 years later we're still being gouged. And it isn't owned by the French as many perceive...money goes to HMGovernment.
