Warrants are not issued anywhere near as often in Scotland because there, you actually need to convince a court official (Sheriff's Clerk or Procurator Fiscal) of the offence. In England and Wales, TVL merely send a electronic form into a centralised authority, stating they were told something, at such and such time and date. Whether the person 'spoken to' did say something or even someone else in the street has said something that might be vaguely construed as watching live TV then the form goes in and the majority get a warrant, via email.

12 years saving for a TV licence at present pricing I have saved over £2000, this must be killing their hateful campaign to terrorise people into paying for a licence, lol, I love the fact that so many are refusing to pay a TV licence now , I mean 159 a year increasing to 172 a year pays for my Netflix and most of the subscription for Disney and I feel I get much better value for my money due to not being forced to watch adverts. Also, VPN gives me so much content. America and the uk are decades behind the quality of acting in most Asian countries, acting quality of videography, all is so fake on western shows now and netflix has enabled us to see how poorly we have been served up the crap we thought was so good at one point.

They kept harassing my friend and one day they phoned him to tell him they were going to come to his flat with the Police and that if he didn't let them in, the Police would arrest him. I took the phone and explained the law and they never turned up. I've seen TV Licence goons do some borderline illegal stuff when trying to gain entry into a property. Banging on the door and shouting "open up Police!" and then deny all knowledge once the door is opened and say "No, I said 'open up, please'". I've seen them come to a door, knock and tell the escorting Police to stay by the road and then when the person opens the door, they say "Those two Police Officers are going to arrest you if you don't grant me access to check your TV" knowing full well the Police were simply there to escort them to request access and make sure no violence took place. I've even seen them manipulate two Police Officers into forcing the person to let the TV Licence scum into the property and when they got inside, they turned his TV on, switched BBC One on using the TV's built in Freeview and said "Your TV is literally playing live TV as we speak and was when we walked in. You owe TV Licence". I despise the TV Licence and anyone who works for them.

I've written to them saying don't send criminals to my house, I've already told you that I don't need a TV licence, if you continue to threaten me and send dodgy people to my house it will be a course of conduct amounting to harassment and do they understand? I refuse to use the online form as they want you to tick a box saying "I understand" and I most certainly do not. I wouldn't watch the BBC if you paid me. When visiting my moms the other day and look for something to watch, i could not get over how much advertising there is. We should not be paying a tv licence they should be paying us to watch the crap they put on. Also, the pushing of minority groups, from races to disabled to alternative sexual preferences, or just people who enjoy dressing up as the opposite sex. Then the worst was before the rugby, 5 damn adverts for a boy that has one arm and plays rugby. i mean come on that was a mockery of the disabled. I prefer watching what i want without the disturbing forcing of ideas on me and the adverts that are so damn crappy. But the fun is coming, now so many have put a value of around 15 for advertising, that means in a court i can now show what value they put on my eyeballs watching their advertising. I am sure very soon, as advertising becomes more and more invasive, some big organisation is going to argue this with top lawyers and force them to pay us that £15 to watch their advertising. Google with their greed has ensured this has become a very hot topic and human rights groups will jump at the chance to hurt google for their abusive behaviour.

Thank you for this, I feel vindicated. I cancelled my BBCTV licence in 2020, had my aerial disconnected and have been very vigilant since. I only watch streams (apart form BBCiPlayer of course), and KZfaq. Before I cancelled my licence I checked the Communications Act 2003 just to confirm what I could watch. I have not looked back, considering the amount of crap churned out by the BBC these days. It is unfortunate that I can’t watch livestreams on KZfaq but it’s not that inconvenient to watch the replay. I feel vindicated because I have pointed this out in several comment sections to people (in livestream replays) and the usual answer (sometimes rude) is ‘Well it’s KZfaq - its not the BBC’. I’ve given up doing that now - if you don’t want to pay the licence fee, you need to take responsibility and check out what you can legally watch in the UK. The sooner the BBC has its charter removed - the better.

You can watch live streams on KZfaq, Twitch etc, as long as they do not also stream via conventional means that require the maintenance of aerial or radio networks. Your Internet connection is provided to you via a private company that has to maintain these networks. The whole point of this tax is to provide BBC with funds outside of adverts etc, to enable the production of original content and have one source of news that won't hide behind a paywall and should technically be impartial (which they failed completely and could be the basis of a massive lawsuit if people agree to do so), but most importantly maintain the network, be it cable, radio or now digital, to stream said content, regardless of who provides it and if they gain any additional funds from this tax (see other TV Stations). That is the spirit of this tax and it's a noble one (if the internet goes offline for example and you need access to information). However, since BBC is politically too far to the left, invests the money into productions some of us at least don't care about, over pays for some of their employes and spends a ton on fancy studio equipment, and went as far as to hire a private company that pays their agents per customer "persuaded" this tax needs to be eliminate. And by the looks of it, it will in 2025.

I've never had a knock at the door, obviously that doesn't mean I won't at some point in the next few years.. If you decide to go down the route of ignoring them, that may cause more hassle, more letters & more chance of a visit.. But do whatever you find best 😊

I'm quite curious as to how they will enforce this. I read that the smoke level must be below 3% compared to 5% previously. How could they even measure a 2% difference in smoke output. Like TVL, they have no right of entry without a warrant to test the moisture content of your wood or what type of coal you're using so no idea how they expect to issue on the spot fines.

Don’t burn the wrong things then. Burn seasoned hardwood and anthracite why would you want to burn anything else? People are seriously out here burning countertops thinking they are wood when they’re 50% plastic, imagine your next door neighbours kids got cancer because of burning highly toxic materials, if you are doing that you deserve to be fined.

In Germany if you own anything that can receive a radio or TV signal you are obliged to pay. No matter if you use it or not. Surprised this is not yet the case everywhere. They normally don't miss a trick.

Aye fair comment but unfortunately there are far too many gullible people in the UK, people that don't stand up to their bully boy tactics, people that actually invite them in, these people have got to understand these characters that knock on your door asking if you have a TV license have no powers of arrest and certainly no right of entry into your home, shut the door on them, simples !!!

It’s the same with the British Gas people who’ve been forcing entry recently. It shows the state of where our country is atm. Where people can be taken advantage of by the government and big business. The tv licence is a scam! You’re paying for the BBC despite if you use it or not!

Of course I’m fine with this as we have no tv & watch nothing made by the bbc. Just have a niggling worry they may come up with something so your advice is very gratefully received Thank you.✊♥️

When i refused to pay my TV licence abd dumped my TV in the bin, i kept on getting reminders and threats...I told them i didn't have a TV, and i said if you don't believe me, come and look for yourself! Several years later, i had someone move in , they, had a TV, so they applied for a licence....they still lay for their licence....As far as i am concerned, the licence fee is not worth the money!

It would help those affected if the WARRANT was explained in detail.......Very often the goons will turn up with a spurious mass produced piece of BBC paper THAT IS NOT AN OFFICIAL court produced warrant..... Their paperwork usually carries NO OFFICIAL court STAMP & NO COURT OFFICIAL/JUDGE SiGNATURE &/or date, court address stamp....Even if they appear with the police in tow (intimidation) DO NOT LET THEM CROSS THE THRESHOLD INTO YOUR HOME.....Conduct ANY discussion in/on public land/road etc.
