TWA Hotel is a hotel at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York that opened on May 15, 2019. It utilizes the headhouse of the TWA Flight Center airline terminal, designed in 1962 by the architect Eero Saarinen.

I was fortunate enough to be a Flight Service Manager for TWA until 1989. This was our international terminal. The long tunnel with the red carpet led from the ticketing area to the gates. Sure brings back memories thinking about all the times I walked that tunnel. This was easily the best times of my life working and flying for TWA. When Carl Icahn bought our beloved airline in 1986 it was the beginning of the end for those of us who loved this airline. Thank you for the video, I most certainly intend to visit, if my heart can stand it!

Sam, nice video review. Thank you. I was a Pan Am Stewardess based in JFK from 1979-1991 and I cried like a baby when Delta and the Port Authority let the Pan Am Worldport deteriorate to the point where they demolished it. We former employees always felt there was a new use for it. I am grateful the TWA was saved. How many times I too ran through those tubes to my gate to commute home to another state!! Big fan of yours, keep it up!

To be fair, Carl Ichan destroyed TWA. I grew up in St. Louis in the 90s, and flew them often. The crews and staff were really nice, and they did a lot to save the airline which sadly folded to American who treated the former TWA employees poorly. I wish PanAm's history lived on in a similar fashion like TWA.

I can still remember the sense of awe I had as a small child entering the Pan Am Worldport in 1971 to board a 707 bound for Tokyo (via Fairbanks)! Yes, it's a travesty what happened to that iconic building, but I agree that we are very fortunate TWA was saved, preserved, and re-purposed.

I paid exactly the same thing to spend the night at the JFK Hilton across the expressway last Christmas coming in from Paris. This would be well worth it, not only for the nostalgia and the architecture, but because you can take the AirTrain, walk or otherwise avoid a taxicab. Eight bucks for orange juice is pretty standard in New York City. Cough it up, people. It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
@albertlilly

@@AlmostMonumental27, exactly the reason for my comments. It's a rare opportunity, it is not that much different from hotels on the airport grounds in places like Dallas, and it is unique and saves high travel costs in NYC.

Hey Sam, so very glad you appreciate the retro TWA. I connected through here in 1987 on a travel agent fam-trip to Nassau for a PARS welcoming reception. It was the bomb! Everything comp at the Paradise Hotel (maybe that's why they went under LOL). TWA was an outstanding carrier, too bad even great people and great customer service can't save an outstanding airline from the guys with the golden parachutes. Flew them 1st class ORD-LHR in '73 and thought I had died and gone to plane spotter heaven! (First trip to Europe) All I have is a cordial glass as a memento. FYI-I flew on the Connies and Super-G's on Eastern for years as a kid, in First. What, can't tolerate a little "hot n' sticky" to have a runway view? LOL Yes, I'll have to stop over there on my next trip to BOS. You're killing me here, man! Can't wait to get there! Many many thanks for this nostalgic trip down memory lane! Love your posts!

I never knew this place existed until a couple months ago and got really excited. I’m from NY originally and fly back and forth for work, and i stay with my family. I can’t wait to just stay there just to experience it now. I’ll definitely spend the money for a night for the experience!

Wonderful video! My friend and I, who live in Manhattan, took a trip out to check out the TWA Hotel one afternoon/evening and we had a great time. l love all the nostalgic details, and the Connie Bar was awesome--I highly recommend the hummos appetizer! The restaurant maitre'd seemed inexperienced, but the rest of the staff was great. Glad you had a great experience as well.

Hi Sam, Nice video. Thanks for making this one. Yes, its a dream come true for all those who madly love airplanes. The 1960's and 70's retro appeal was just amusing. They did a good job with the interior. You're so lucky to be enjoying this. The memorablia was nice and admirable too. I wonder if those TWA memorablia and souvenirs are available online, I want to buy them all. I would love to have a personal collection.And that music ? I loved it. The Howard Hughes suite was very nice to look at. Someday I would love to have my work table facing the runway but its not the fact here, I wish I could have the means to change that. I feel, this video was made just for me. Thank you so much. I'm so pleased.

In Spain, when TWA the airline still existed, its name was pronounced "too-ah", instead of pronouncing each letter individually as we do in English. When I first head that pronunciation I was surprised.
