Bro I didn't even know who kazuya was and I was still happy for the people who wanted him. Now that it's the character I wanted, people are shitting on him and other people including myself wanting him. I don’t get how people can cry and whine and moan over a video game character. I’m so happy for this but I can’t wrap my head around man children breaking and smashing things because they didn’t get what they wanted! I voted for Sora almost 4 years ago. He was the most voted character ever it had to be done. It’s been done. Love him or hate it it’s fine because at the end of the day it’s just a game and you don’t have to play as him.

Kingdom Hearts as a franchise is in a weird spot because Nomura calls the shots and it's his brainchild, but the copyright and trademark lies with Disney, so while Nomura is "responsible" for the franchise, it's ENTIRELY owned by Disney. It is NOT a joint-venture or anything, Disney owns 100% of everything Kingdom Hearts (apart from external trademarks like the Final Fantasy characters obviously). And Disney is notoriously hard to convince, so it was probably a real pain in the ass to get permission to even put him in in the first place.

Those two comments talking about no one wanting him in really piss me off.

Sora is 100% a Disney character. All of Kingdom Hearts belongs exclusively to Disney and Square Enix merely has the license to develop and publish the games, but the IP and all it's original characters are owned, trademarked and copyrighted by Disney and Disney only. Sora is NOT a Square Enix rep, he's a Disney rep, legally speaking

If they put mickey in this it would be more enjoyable to me. I find that Sora feels like a knockoff anime based on final fantasy games made by Disney and is like an average protagonist of almost any game.

Disney has a hand in the rights yes, but, there is a reason we ONLY got the Origional Characters of KH and not any trace of Disney characters. Not on the stained glass for the stage, not in music, not in even the side trophy characters, litterally Disney does not own Sora and the other origional characters, they simply own a portion of his rights just like SquareEnix does. And without both sides of the companies, i.e SquareEnix and Disney, then nobody would get Sora or any representation of KH. Still don't get why people think that Sora is only a Disney owned character when it is a brain child of Nomura and a Disney associate. In fact Nomura was told no on his orgional design thus we now have the Sora we got. How much of the rights does Disney have of KH? Probably more than Square Enix since the things they for sure own solely is FF characters. I think most never expected sora to work simply because he was on the side of Disney. Here's hoping if another smash game is made (which is sorta unlikely), it will be a homage to others who didn't get the chance to get into it, or one dedicated to a different platform like Xbox or Sony.

Whilst I agree that Doomslayer would have been a great character, I'm not familiar enough with his franchise to know if he had enough content to fit the standards of the dlc as a whole. We're talking distinctive moveset, a nostalgic stage, a large music list, spirits, skins, kirby hat, easter egg reps, victory screen layout, but most importantly the exterior motive (eg coincides with game release). Sure being a mii fighter is a tad lazy, but being an actual gunner may end up being more generic than what we call anime swordfighters.

Waluigi was basically spin off, and crash is as Simplistic as spin and jump, he doesn't meet the basic requirements to even make it in. Aside from that tho really happy Sora made it

To be frank, I never expected that Sakurai will add Sora despite the fact that he said years ago that fans need to stop sending requests to the devs and that Nintendo is going to pick some characters that might disappoint the audience, but he dropped the big surprise to the end just to finish Smash in a satisfying way. There isn't a 'technically'. This discussion was between Nintendo and Disney only. Disney owns 100% of the Kingdom Hearts franchise, Square merely has the license to develop and publish the games the same way that EA has the license to develop and publish Star Wars games. But legaly speaking, Kingdom Hearts belongs 0% to Square Enix and 100% to Disney, including all it's orginal characters like Sora.

He has multiple 3 hit combos, 3 different projectiles, a insane recovering option, and lame counter isn’t a reflecting counter is a deflecting counter meaning that any powerful projectiles ( like Samus’s charge Beam) that gets deflected by Sora will literally become a miniature nuke. Besides Sora is by far one of the more interesting sword user at least.

Out of many franchises, KH had to have been the one that Sakurai knew within a heartbeat that would be powerful if it were his last work. #ThankYouSakurai for such a marvelous game, and may it live for many generations!

As a fan of the Kingdom Hearts series I would recommend to start off with the first one to see if the series is for you. This series does expect you to know everything. If you have a PS4 I would say play on that because you can get the whole series on that for dirt cheap.

During the fighter's pass for Ultimate, fans were expecting characters that just couldn't get in without Nintendo asking for extra permission from other publishers (with the exception of some DLC characters). If the same thing happen with All-Star Brawl, Nick wouldn't be able to get those characters since they belong to Cartoom Network.

I doubt people will stay with nick for long. The game looks pretty janky and pretty bad when compared to ultimate. Their roster also isn’t something to write home about. Like it will apeal to old nick fans,but that’s about it. Most kids will have no idea who those characters are.
