Griselda and Miguelina grew up in New York City feeling like they didn't fit neatly into any of society's "boxes." It wasn't until they got older that they started to come to terms with their Blackness, and embraced what it means to be Afro-Dominican women.

I feel that they are proud of their African roots which they have and should be proud of. What I don’t understand is why people feel the need to remind them that they are not fully black....I think they already know that. If they tried to deny that part, then they don’t like black people. Can we just be proud of our Taino/ black roots without people having to make it a negative thing that we are proud of. I wish there were peace between our people.

Interesting video. I have seen many dominicans who do not claim to be black nor afro latino but latino. Black comics who mimic dark skinned Dominicans who claim they are not black but are latino. I have seen them on talk shows on Univision in the past talking about being latino and not black. These women embrace their afro identity,

@Melanated Warrior most places the world over Black and Latino people are co habitats and endure the same struggles but instead of face those struggles unified, they look down on one another. Blacks and Latinos will never " stand " each other, their humans! which means despite being social creatures, we are also tribal and racist and brainwashed. ( you know, human condition ) Black and Latino People's plights are very similar the world over, we were and are subjugated by the same oppressors. both races still suffering from the same genocides

The one drop rule still applies. That being the case all blacks worldwide have a common enemy and it should not be each other. Our oppressor has the upper hand because we are not united and he knows it. Once united we will come to see we don't need him and he can go straight to hell. My best to these two women.

Griselda and Miguelina are strong human beings. The average person is weak and will go alone to get alone, I prefer strong intelligent human beings myself and not the robotic type that will conform just so they don't have to fight. I understand though why most conform, because it's easier in the short term. Myself I prefer being able to sleep at night knowing I'm a good human being.

Listen to the conversation of the sisters that’s born three minutes earlier than her twin I understand exactly what she meant what she means. If I call you black I am referring to US black of IAmerican of African dissent. if you are from Nigeria, Kenya or Egypt as Some of my relatives or through marriage then I will refer to you as a Kenyan or Nigerian America the reason why Americans of of African dissent is something that came out of the civil right movement. But Americans of African dissent if you want to describe them they are really People of color and it’s like my great grandmother use too say. You can find a person of any color in the Negro community, her daughter my great grandmother was the first one born in the United States after 1865.

@@gummithyxii1885 actually African americans do not have only 73% black dna..your numbers are grossly off. Because mixed race ppl often prefer to dentify as black adds to inflated numbers. The average black person with two mostly black parents has a DNA of 80% black. Geography matters too! Is the data coming from someone from new Orleans vs south Carolina. That matters. 74 Africans Is a big difference between being only 20 %. By your logic african Americans should identify as white. Since they are 26%white according to u. Lol these women aren't black stop supporting the racist 1 drop slavery rule.

There's been discrimination in those parts of lation country's because of how they look why they are making this a new identify.. and I don't blame they are not trying to be in no side or trying to claim being black just like African Americans feel they are hated on for their skin color that's how they treat Latinos of all walks with f the world for being darker .
@JD-ny3vz
@JD-ny3vz 3 жыл бұрын
But if they were biracial black and white and came out looking like that and said they identify as black nobody care. Just because they prob come from a long line of mixed people doesn't mean they are not black you don't have to be dark skin to be black.
@oddp61
@oddp61 3 жыл бұрын
@@JD-ny3vz actually it DOES mean they aren't black. Lol a person with two black parents is not the same as a person with mixed race heritage. Especailly a person with out any black parents.. Neither is better than the other as we are all people. But we can not deny each group is unique..
