Two interesting exercices to practice Carrom

In the first exercice, you can place the coins the way you want, and try to be sure to pocket each of them in maximum two shots.
We used to play regularly the second exercice with my friend Jérôme, a very good player from France, national Champion in 2004 !

I used to do the same practice but pocket the coin in a single shot. it gave me confidence of playing any coin on the board into any desired pocket in a single shot. but now it has been a long time i left practice. thanks for sharing.

Can you please tell sir ...how to aim properly. Because most the time I really can't get the desired point where I should hit...can you please tell sir .Where to hold the striker and where not.

Hi.. Thank you so much for posting quality videos on YT.. In the second exercise the intention is not to pocket the Carrom men but just to touch the two. Right?

Yes, but you can also try to pocket them when possible, while touching the other one anyway ;-) it's reaaly fun !!

Hello No it's not the pink one i'm using, in all europe playing with official international rules, we play with potatoe starch powder, coming from Germany and India. The sandy one is the magic or disco powder, wich is much faster than the potatoe one.

i see. what we use is boric acid powder. is the potato starch powder better than that. anyway thanks for the reply.

hi, There's no better powder, potatoe is the one we use in Europe, quite fast, and boric in Asia, a bit slower and requires a different control. Both are good and adapted to their area.

Sir, How To Grip The Striker Correctly.. Because I Cant Aim At The Desire Point.. And Its Really Embarrassing.. No One Want To Play With Me.. :( And Make Fun Of Me.. Please Suggest Sir..

Hi Avijit, there are many different ways to grip the striker. Some are playing with a single finger and are very accurate, some are playing scisors grip, some with the middle finger, and most of the best players are playing with the index finger, in tension with the thumb.(locked or not with the fourth and fifth finger). It doesn't mean it's THE best way to play but there are many advantages with this grip. The most important is that YOU feel confortable with one grip. I think a good way to feel your grip is to practice on really easy coins, like a line 5cm in front of your base, and slowly slowly you can give more distance to the coins and it will come naturally. You can also observe other players how they are doing, and why not you can visit Sir Arun Deshpande in Thane for a special coaching session ! Best of luck to you, and enjoy playing carrom anyway !!!

Try this second exercice, it will certainly help you; only with experience you will understand how much the coins and the striker deflects on one another ;-)

I think there is no miracle...it also happened to me several times to shiver; when you feel it's little bit cold, you're not very comfortable in your game, you are missing too much...Several times i had to change my grip because i couldn't release the finger; or sometimes shivering. I think you can have a daily practice; being really in the present moment, noticing every little mistake you are doing to correct them; and also try to feel comfortable in your mind, in peace to play with more confidence. I agree it's hard, it's really a hard game, that's why it's also very interesting !! A full life to understand this wonderful game better, and your perceptions and feelings to adjust and get the lines, mind and finger connected ;-) Good game to you
