Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I recently acquired a 2023 300 XC-W with the intention of plating it and having basically the most bada#$ "dual sport" ever made. I've still yet to put it to the test on the asphalt but I am looking forward to the day of rolling up to the gas pump and filling my 2 stroke up! I'm in N. AZ. Tucson is a magnificent place. I'm happy to hear you speak of its beauty.

Thanks so much for your kind words!! With a 48 tooth rear sprocket I’m blown away how good it does at highway speeds yet can putz the tight stuff with ease. 55 mph is the sweet spot but I can easily cruise 65-70 and it still isn’t rapped out screaming like it’s going to blow up. People see these 300 fuel injected two strokes and think they are like the old school smokers that were always on the pipe and would be horrible on the road; Not the case!! Get your bike plated and you won’t be disappointed!!

They are best of both worlds.

I just picked up a 24 KTM 300 xcw Hard Enduro and Planning on dual sport it to connect trails when Riding in CO and Arkansas. I had the 500 And 350 but they are just too vibey plus I wanted to go super light.

You couldn’t have picked a better platform imo! What’s the plan for upgrades??

@@DirtByk TSP head and ecu tune. Hand guards and a few typical protection items. TrueNorthMoto dual sport kit. Will eventually get a larger tank and probably a seat concepts later. Sold my 690 and decided I wanted something much lighter.

Agree with you and I’m coming from a 500 to a 300 for these same reasons but I see use the term “super lite”. I wouldn’t say the 300 is super lite compared to the 350/500. It’s lighter and more “flickable” as they say. The 300cc engine is easier to carry up a hill than the 500. But the bikes themselves are less than 10 pounds different. It’s the engine oscillation and centrifugal force which is lessened ever slightly to make the 2 stroke stand out as the enduro winner.

It’s crazy you can plate a 2 stroke in your state. I’m jealous. I do like my 500 but my 300 xc just gets it done with ease.

It’s called freedom! You should be able to as well but the People’s Republic of California know what’s best for allllll their citizens.

Nice video, I’m thinking of doing the same. What dual sport kit (lights, signals, etc) and why did you choose it? Thanks
@DirtByk11 ай бұрын
It’s the Tusk kit for the wiring but I pieced together the headlight. Be creative and your options are limitless. The 300 has a strong stator so you can run some serious lighting if you want.

Good yo know that info. I have a 2021 exc 250 tpi and was wondering if it would last on the road getting to the single tracks Jayson

Without a doubt. I do about 20 miles of road at 65 to and from the National forest. It handles it just fine.

My DR650 has developed a transmission issue and I've been thinking of a two stroke dual sport for several years. Would you recommend any particular model(s). I like the local (Tucson) Huqsvarna dealer and he has 300s in stock. My second motorcycle was a GT185 Suzuki and I absolutely loved that thing. I owned several RD Yamahas. The DR will show an indicated 90mph and cruise at that speed all day, but... 55-70 on one of these seems pretty nice. I read about a guy riding a KTM 300 two stroke over 7K miles in an Iron Butt Rally!

What did you decide? A 300 would make a great light weight dual Sport but if you want to sit at 65 for extended periods , it’s probably not the best. I’d say a 500 or even a drz400 would be something to look at. I had been on a KZfaq hiatus but am getting motivated about riding again so new content coming soon.

@@DirtByk If the 300 had wider 4th through 6th, would it be a lot better on the road? It should have plenty of power to get to 100mph, maybe not the gearing or.. stability

@@DirtByk How big is that tank? I'm looking at getting a 300 and I'm trying to figure what MPG I might get on 2 track roads and 10 or 20 miles of pavement.

What kind of lights on the bars?

Those are pod lights from autozone. They sell them individually and are about 30w.
