Last time I had to cut an actual Woodruff key slot I messed up my math and had to redo it, glad yours went so much better, lol! Shaft looks good, your buddy who owns the motor will be tickled pink.

Always learn something new watching you at work Max. I particularly enjoy that you show the book work to figure it out as well. Measurement over wires etc. Fascinating. Keep up the good work. Enjoyed the shed update as well - it’s coming along well. Probably going to be a bit wet the next couple days to get much done out there unfortunately.

Gday Max, thanks for showing the information about the woodruff keys, I’ve never cut one before, the first cutter was definitely dull compared to the second one and there’s nothing worse the breaking on the ginger stroke, Cheers

Hi Max, I run my HSS Woodruff cutters about half the speed you were running yours, on that 10.8 steel, preservation without a T&C grinder. Have to mow my lawn every 4 day's in the tropics here!!!!
@swanvalleymachineshop3 жыл бұрын
Is it monsoon season or something there , to mow so often ! It's coming up mower season out at the new shop soon . More shed & driveway means less to mow , only about 8 acres now ! I always worry about running woodruff's too slow in case they break ! Can't remember the rpm , but if it was sharper it would have done it with ease . Cheers .

Hi Max, I am latitude 14 degrees North, exactly opposite Darwin 14 degrees South, we are in the wet season, afternoon thunderstorms and then the sun comes out, humidity is extreme, the lawn and plants love it, my Avocados, Bananas and Mangoes are thriving, yes we are in the SW Monsoon waiting for the next Cyclone.

For those that didn't understand Max's reference later in the video to size of cutter verses No of cutter, in Imperial sizes the cutter number refers to the Width as the first two numbers in thirty seconds of an inch. The last numbers, in this case one last number, refers to the Diameter of the cutter in 1/8". So a 606 cutter is 6/32" thick and 6/8" diameter. Edited for wrong value entered by me. Cheers Max, John Australia. PS The last 606 I bought was High Quality Dormer and was $109 so when people Bitch to me about the cost of a job I tend to say, do it yourself!

Or for fans of Kurtis “bananas”
@geofflodge67843 жыл бұрын
Not to confuse anyone 606 is 6/32' (3/16") width and 6/8" (3/4") diameter

@@alasdairhamilton1574 Funny thing is if you live in Queensland Aust like Kurtis , we call them banana benders !
