In this video Brad brews a split batch of our Classic Cream Ale all grain recipe on the Grainfather G70. One fermenter gets Fermentis US-05 and the other Mangrove Jacks M54 Cali Common yeast. They are then fermented side by side in identical fermenters before being kegged and compared.

Love these comparison videos. So many variables in brewing. Since you say you are having issue hitting OG, that would make a good subject video. I struggle with that myself. Grain crush size, amount of water use, sparge or not…

Great video as always! I've placed a couple orders with you guys so far and loving the new pastime! AKA addiction hahaha 😅. So far, I've brewed more with the US-05 and I've found that it gives a boozy taste to everything. I'll have to experiment with different yeasts to see what it does! I'm trying to find a recipe that I like and then I'll start messing around with different things. But until then Sippy poos!

An interesting comparison video would be the effect on flavour from using different types of acids to lower mash ph on a pale beer. Lactic, citric, phosphoric, sulphuric, hydrochloric, acidulated malt…

How about a yeast recycle or starter overbuild test using one strain across several beer types.

Great idea. It's not something I've ever done because it's so easy to just grab fresh yeast every time, being at the home brew shop. But I should do one.

Maybe I missed it. What were the fermentation temperatures? I pick up peach undertones on the US-05 at various temps. Considering a new yeast for my pale ales.

It was fermented at around 18-20C. If you're looking for a new versatile ale yeast I highly recommend trying House Ale by Escarpment Labs if you can get it. Cheers
