The exhaust isn't the problem if riding through deep water, air will blow out even if submerged. The problem is the air intake which if water gets into the engine will both stop it and require considerable work to run again.

I would say this kind of bikes are perhaps the easiest bikes to ride on the TET….light weight, tractor type torque….look forward to see them.

For TET riding get a proper mx boots, none of this adventure type stuff. It's very easy to injure yourself. Something like gaerne GX1, alpine stars tech3 I think is minimum to be used when riding off-road (you can get something even better like tech 7, sg12, sidi crossfire etc etc). Second thing - It might be a good idea to get some sort of bash plate manufactured so you won't puncture your crank case on the rocks. In the North there is a lot of rocky sections. I am riding TET with transalp 600 and I am always hitting the bottom of the engine against the rocks.

WoW ... Impressed with your plans . The TET is serious off roading. Good luck PS dont just go off the exhaust height when wading through water. Your Air intake and Battery are key areas that you dont want to get under water.

I was surprised at first to see two VanVans, but they make total sense for Lavi's starter bike & license. They should be pretty easy to handle on the TET, as long as they have enough power to get up hills with your luggage. Great time to travel light!

Hi lavi and ollie, I'm not surprised ollie you said the van van feels light, especially after just riding around the world on a 1,050 cc v storm, it must feel like a toy, I found 3 years ago when I downsized from a 900 cc to a 600 cc due to age and arthritis and being a short arse, it is 9 stone less so it feels like a toy. But your still get where your going, just a bit slower, but can enjoy the scenery better. Good luck to you both, Have a great trip. Best wishes from Roy 😊 👍 ❤.

So many smiles per mile with these Van Vans!! We have the RV200 Van Van in the US and it's such a perfect bike and fun to ride. The 125 is exactly the same with just a smaller engine. As you realize, you couldn't have found a better first bike for Lavi but also a super fun bike for Ollie! Such a friendly clutch, great but not crazy strong brakes, super comfy seat and just such a confidence inspiring machine! Congrats!!! Excited to watch your next adventure!

I rode Moab Utah on a VanVan 200 as well as narrow dirt tracks in Calfonia. The standard front tire is a liability. A more dirt oriented one is a great idea. Next it needs an engine bash guard. The underside of the engine is unprotected. PS, I have 55 years riding and racing off road and motocross.

Great choice of bike for doing the TET as first timers ( especially in Lavi's case ) This, and Yamaha's version of this, the TW125 and TW200 was one of the bikes I was considering for my upcoming trip from the UK to Capetown, in October. However, the possible problem of getting the balloon type of tyres for them outside of Europe made me change to a Yamaha XT225. Looking forward to your TET trip around the UK.

This will be big adventure. Several friends ride the tet. Tough in plsces but very beautiful. Who opens and closes the gates Ollie? You. Great bikes for doing just that kind of ride. Especially for a newbie. Much better and safer than into India right off. Enjoy. Luggage type and packing will be test with high pipe. Also check on tires before you go. Very odd size. So find out what is available. Tubes too. Patch kit a must. All good. Look forward to bids. Lavi be careful and safe

At first I was thinking, why a Van Van? Why not something like a 300cc standard bike (I.e. Kawasaki Z300/Z400). Then I see why after you announced the plan. Certainly will be following, and hope you haven’t bitten off more than you can chew with the TET. Looks pretty rough and Lavi being a new rider, maybe some of the suggestions for an off road training course before the trip are a good idea. Either way, I will be watching, and I wish you both a fun, exciting, and “safe” adventure.

Have fun on your new adventure, the TET is an awesome ride, pop in for a cuppa when your on the south west section, my workshop is only about a mile off the route and they are some amazing green lane in this area that are not on the TET.

Had a TW125 which was a more dirt bike looking Yamaha version of these and a bit more rugged in the little bits of bodywork (flexi plastic).....sad to see it go. The only downsides were the ignition wire ran under the fuel tank with a push connector that would work loose and blow the fuse, and the price of the back tyre, as only three bikes used it at that time....good luck with your plan🏍️💨💨💨💨🍻👍😸

Your next trip should be to visit Spain. Vicente and Fernanda is a similar couple that traveled to India. It was not a pleasant experience, but you should get good tips for your trip. It will be an epic encounter with those two channels. The lovely couple from England and the lovely couple from Spain. That encounter will boost both channel.

I owned a TW200 which of course is the Yamaha version of the Van Van. They are kind of like the Volkswagon Beattle of the motorcycle world. Affectionately know here in the USA as the TDub or a Farm Bike because of it's reputation to go anywhere. It's truly the only bike that gave me a serious dose of seller's remorse. You guys are in for a lot of fun! I'm thoroughly looking forward to following your new adventures.

You 2 are awesome but if you are going off road as others have said PLEASE get some proper off road training, especially Lavi. It will save you a world of heartache and frustration. Going from being a new on road rider to taking on the TET is a big deal. But we love you and wish you the best of luck!

The TET adventure sounds awesome! Can I come too? 🤣 I love the style of these little bikes! Very cool looking! I'm not sure they have them in Australia. The exhaust doesn't matter so much in terms of height, it's the air intake that is more important. 180/80 for the tyre is 180 = width of the tread across the tyre, basically the contact patch on the road. 80 is the profile from the rim to the outside of the tread, basically how thick it is. You'll also have a 3rd number which on the V-Strom is 19 for the front and 17 for the rear which is the rim size in inches. For the Van Van, it looks like possibly a 14? It looks pretty small. Great to see some new adventures! 😍

Sounds like a great time playing on the trails of the UK. I remember hearing about the Van Van while working at a Suzuki dealership, but they weren't available here for sale. Looking forward to seeing your journey

Hi guys. Wow. What an awesome adventure you have ahead of you. I had heard of the TET in name only, but now I know a lot more about it. Without doubt, it is going to be very challenging in places for both bike and rider. Lavi, so early in your life as a motorcycle rider, might I be so arrogant to suggest some off-road riding skills training is going to be a must for you? I think you will enjoy your riding more if you get some. And those bikes! They look fun. They look capable and those engines will be typically Suzuki bullet-proof. Go steady how you use that 11bhp! Hey, they aren't rocket ships, but who's in a hurry? Of course you now have the challenge of naming them! I look forward to following you on your new adventure. Stay Happy and Alive. xx

awesome bikes should be a lot of fun ! just fyi the 180 number on your tyre is the width (180mm) and the other is the percentage of that in tyre depth so like 180mm wide and around 100mm deep roughly . good luck on the trip it seems from the map you pass close to where I live in th Yorkshire Dales 👍

Great idea! Am gonna do some green laning this weekend, got the bug after the ABR. (Want to practice standing up and changing gear). Tempted by Wales also next few weeks but maybe later as might get a pannier rack. (Two of you going might be easier re your gear). P.s In Scotland look out for bothies (cold but have a roof, think you can make a fire not sure). Not sure its legal to wild camp in England at least but Wales/Scotland maybe fair game😉
