This video explores these four types of speech delivery and gives some brief advantages and drawbacks of each type.

The key for a successful memorized speech is to show confidence and sincerity to the message that the speaker wants to relay. Memorized speech isn’t all about reciting the retained speech exactly as how you write it but how you deliver it to make it interesting to the audience. The speaker can freely show gestures and the tone of the voice will make the speech alive, be heard and absorbed. To be able to memorize well, it is important to visualize the content of the speech and know its outline. When rehearsing, the speaker should put the right tone in delivery as if it is the time that the audience needs it to be heard. Memorized speaking should not be a harm but instead, it should make us comfortable because we’ll practice this more than those who will hear and did our best to provide a thorough speech.

Upon watching the videos, it made me realize that public speaking is quite hard but maybe… it will be somewhat easy in memorized speech. The advices I have watched were great. It was quick and simply. When the time comes, maybe I can apply it too.

Love presenters who are conversational and who have such a deep knowledge of their subject/content they can carry me along through the presentation in a way that is personal and connects with me most. I lean on this skill as much as I can. However sometimes, I have to lean on my "pathos" during my presentation if my "logos" is not strong enough :) Great coaching tips! Thanks!

Hi, Scott. I agree with you 100% on the conversational presenting style. It's really the most personal. Also, nice mention of "logos" and "pathos" from the other video. :-)

Oh I get it! Memorizing a speech is not only memorizing it word by word. You should also give attention to the tone of your voice because you may sound like a robot who speaks without any emotions in it.

The type of speech delivered has to depend according to the necessity of delivering the speech and each and every type of speech has their own advantages and disadvantages, but I think the most efficient way to deliver a speech is extemporaneous speech because it allows us to practice the speech without sounding monotonous.

What I observed in the videos I watched was more on memorized speech, for me memorized speech helps in delivering speech and facilitates your speech and most of all your body movement is synchronized because all you have to think about is the words you release and you do not have notes like the videos we watched. Memorized speech is also often used when you are performing on a large stage or shows on TV.

It explain the good side and the down fall of memorize speech. It is true that the memorize speech is robotic because you should focus on the script you memorized, you'll forgot about the expressions and gesture because you're afraid that you might forgot your speech.

Delivering memorized speech only sounds wooden if you're bad at it. I thought the joke in that "Despicable Me" scene was how Gru's daughter hadn't been taught to recite poetry correctly.

@@alexanderlyon by memorising a speech, I find that it sets me free to focus on the performing and connecting with the audience, not inhibit me from expressing my speech with dynamics, pauses and emotions.
@alexanderlyon
@alexanderlyon 3 жыл бұрын
A word-for-word memorization? I could see how that might work for a very brief presentation. But, if you're speaking for 10 or 20 minutes or more, I don't see how that is possible. Either way, I'm giving advice to anybody who watches. Individual viewers have to adapt my advice to their specific situation. There are very few "always right" or "always wrong" answers when it comes to presentations and communication skills. We teach guiding principles that must be adapted because each person and every situation is unique.
