@@thelink9959 too many Botez gambits. Like everything there are noobs, intermediates, and experts. I never progressed beyond noob. I don’t know any of the named openings or main lines, so I just put my pieces on squares that feel active at the start and try to figure it out.

@@thelink9959 i made my account, played my friend in rated because he couldn't find the unrated setting and dropped to 250 elo in 3 games. Now I am 126 - 63 at 900 elo because I've gained 8 elo per win. I can make a new account and get to 900 on about 10 games probably...

you also hung your pawn, so even if he forgot how a knight move, he could have still taken it and stopped the mate in one. Plus, even if it was protected, if he thought there was no other way out, he should still have taken the pawn and sacrificed the queen.

Your opponents opening in that game is genuinely one of the most horrifying things I've ever seen. 50 thousand pawn moves, then immediately trading off the fianchettoed bishop, the only piece he bothered developing.
