My brother is like this. I tell him he needs to talk to a neurologist to get his add meds so he doesn't fail his courses again - I want to help him, I want to get him to do stuff but any time I try, he just says "no I don't want to" and I ask why and he goes "I just don't.". I want to help him, I really do.

I don’t have the same social issues. But I completely relate to Liam in terms of being 100% invested in a faction in the Lore. For me it’s Imperials. I remember I hang out with a guy at Gamesday years ago who was the same but for Chaos(he dressed like a goth and everything). It was like we were a Muslim and a pro-Israeli Jew, I had to make sure to keep things civil.

I’m married with kids in a job that’s hard work and boring as hell. Part of me is jealous of Liams life actually. No job, no responsibility’s, just Warhammer.

Sounds like Liam has just given up. Difficult to help people like that. He's using the hobby (and OP) as a crutch because he has nothing else. Also, for Australia, a 90min bus ride is local! My mate lives out there and a 2hr drive to the shops isn't out of the ordinary. Big country.

I'm 34 with a wife, kid and house and still feel like in Liam in a way. Dealt with alot of stress as a kid with distracting myself, so even now find myself pushing my own thoughts to 40k and modeling in general to block out the stress. Have got alot better at pulling myself back to reality but it's deffinatly something I have to deal with

@@Ng-zg4dq hardly, he only wanted somebody to play against in 40k and when he found somebody who appeared to be socially inept he decided he needed to be a saviour. you don't treat friends like spastics who cant make correct decisions, OP treats liam like he's a child or a slave and not as an equal or a friend. but he was using liam to play 40k and then wanted to criticise him... after being invited to his house to play games.. maybe OP should learn how to make friends without judging people for their lifestyle? imagine liam was gay and OP was trying to convicd him to goo to church to stop sinning. its the same vibr

I feel bad for that Liam guy. It's upsetting he was unwashed and unhygienic but to be fair, he could have ADD/ADHD or Asperger's syndrome, which is really hard to see at first glance or even after an hour of being with someone. Of course he was a bit gross and a bit blunt at the end of the game but he seems reasonably okay. Feels bad man 😅
