This U-2 is returning to earth after taking Sagar Pathak up to 70,000 feet + the aircraft is flown by Lt. Col "Huggy" Huggins, the car is being flown by "Cabi"
This is the raw video that made the popular "we get cut off by a u2 video"
This is an un edited clip.

Not that hard actually. For the most part it would be pretty hard to tip over while going at a high speed because the wings want to lift up into the air still.

When the plane landed one of e pilots asked me to hold the wing off the ground. I couldn’t believe how light this plane was. I picked up the wing and balanced the whole plane while I waited for the air crew. I was a heavy equipment mechanic who worked on their chase cars. One of the best times I had in the USAF🇺🇸

Another interesting rabbit hole journey tonight. Was watching a review of Top Gun Maverick in which the reviewer commented that the “coffin corner” in the movie is not a real coffin corner. So then I look up what a coffin corner is. Wikipedia’s explanation didn’t make complete sense to me so I looked up a video for a visual representation. Happened to notice a comment about the U2 operating right at the coffin corner. Decided to read more about the U2. Flabbergasted at the description of how it lands. Had to see if there was a video. Was not disappointed!

Do the wing tips where it contacts the ground have a skid plate or something. Seen plenty of take off videos but 1st time watching a landing. Odd that they didn’t just have some sort of retractable wheel system. I get weight, but even a single use that put wheels in place, it lands, and they have to be reset by ground crew after.

Everyone involved with this is just amazing. Thank you all for what you do. I do not know very much at all about the u2. I read a lot about the sr72 because I used it everyday in black ops 1. Lol. I just found it fascinating. I think it has been decommissioned though. I'm going to read about the u2 but why isn't there landing gear to make it stable? I don't understand how it's even possible to land on those tiny wheels. Especially that back wheel. And no gear on either side? How do those wings not scrape the ground? And then also how in the world would it land like that in windy conditions? Sorry if those are stupid questions.
@gr6e
@gr6e Жыл бұрын
The wings don't scrape the ground while it's moving for the same reason you don't fall over on a bicycle while it's moving. Notice it doesn't tip over until it stops. The wings aren't not thick enough to fit landing gear, especially with everything needed to make them retractable. Making them bigger to accommodate all that extra equipment and weight would require making the whole plane significantly larger, which would negate the point of being a "spy" plane

An incredible aircraft that flew at 70,000 feet in the 1950s "Wow" .. but it also makes you rethink Concord (1970s) also flying at 70,000 feet fully pressurised: a regular passenger service with everything from first-class meals to restrooms (and albeit cramped, rather more comfort for the flight crew I suspect). thank you for posting I was particularly interested in the landing balance issues/protocols for the U-2, again "wow" :)
