When you’re in war none of that matters... each branch couldn’t be successful without help from the other branches, they all work together all the time anyways... when the US took Ramadi in 2006 it wasn’t just the Marines or just the SEALs or just the Army... it was all of them working cohesively together as a team. Flinging bullets and killin bad guys.

It doesn't matter what force it is. If you have enough people and vehicle cover like they did & the mission is to clear the village which it was thats why they had so many resources. Then you complete the mission you started. It wasn't a patrol it was a clearing mission.

@@joeglasgow3075 I did join, I ended up going into the National Guard so I could finish college and get some help from the Military to pay for schooling. I did my 6 and got out. Within those 6 I never deployed and did not volunteer for one because of college and soon after graduating college I had a job lined up. Talking with some of my buddies that were active and in my platoon who spent their fair share of time over in Afghanistan I have mixed feelings about Afghanistan so I’ll make it short. The US will never change the views of a multi-generational ideology. They have their beliefs and will always keep their beliefs because it’s in their culture. When kids grow up watching their parents get killed by Americans only makes their hate for us even greater and when they are old enough they join the fight against the US. While I think just abruptly pulling troops out without an actual plan might not have been the proper solution, however, like President Biden said, “ the right time may never come.” Who knows what the future will hold over there and I do not believe that what the soldiers in the past did over there was for nothing, but that conflict over there will be a never ending conflict and I do believe that it was time for the US to get out and start worrying about fixing our own problems here in the States.

Those ANA soldiers that you disparage so readily are fighting for their homes and families,doing their best despite not being professional,fully trained troops. When ISAF have departed they will be the first that the Taliban seek out for reprisals.

Most people would have the same expressions when asked to run toward gunfire. Surf the net and you will notice most of us Devil Dogs are taught fight not flight. However, you make a strong point. It takes great courage to run towards danger. Especially when one is not trained to do so. I will pay homage this Independance Day to the brave men, with little to no experience, who defeated the British Empire.
