It's a rare performer who can sing the grief - and pride! - of millions and mean it. I get a lump in my throat every time I hear this song, going on 3000 times I'd guess. Even with the mullet, Bono is ethereally fine in this video.

Hey guys, "where is this?" its just a couple of miles from where I am right now in Dublin Ireland, specifically the Docklands, East Wall and Windmill Lane where this was recorded (I think, or Slane Castle). Great shots of the Liffey and Poolbeg 'Lighthouse' :-) And way back in the day when this brilliant U2 song was released - around 1984, Dublin was a grimmer place compared to the vibrant city it is now. But the character of the people was real then as it is today. Thanks for sharing. PS - Bono's mullet? - yeah! A national conversation back then.

As others are saying this is a U2 tribute song to Martin Luther King and when they looked so serious it was because he was singing about the assassination of Martin Luther King by a white supremacist in Memphis. U2 identified with the Civil Rights Movement because of the hundreds of years of suppression of the Irish people by the English. The Irish were oppressed, their rights stripped and gunned down in the streets. Both U2 and the Cranberries (check out Zombie by them) were Irish protest bands who wrote about the troubles in Ireland. A lot of those songs are powerful and good musically. They will remind you of struggles that continue here.

I saw them at 'Forest National', Brussels, Belgium, in '84 and it was f. amazing. The Royal Observatory of Belgium is a Belgian astronomical observatory located in the neighboring municipality recorded that evening sysmic vibrations and their origin was this concert. I took 3 days to regain normal hearing. i'm so happy of being a - small - part of this.

I was a huge U2 fan in the 80’s and saw the band many times. I was fortunate to met the led singer, Bono. As you have heard this song is about Dr. King. U2 has been a band that is not afraid of making social statements through their music. These guys are now in their 50’s and early 60’s, boy time goes by fast.

Not gonna lie: _worst_ place to have paused the video to comment on Bono's hair. If you miss the build of images, you're going to miss the entire meaning behind the song. And this song talks about something pretty deep: sacrifice, prejudice, abuse, standing up for what you believe in. Maybe listen again sometime.

I love their Rattle and Hum album. It's underrated, because it came after "The Joshua Tree" album, which was the No 1 rock album of the 80's btw.

"Where the street has no name" is a great song and video. They are filming them making a video in downtown LA and the police even shut it down towards the end of the song.

Love U2. I've seen them twice. Shed tears too. Their music is emotional and wonderful. First time I paid $30 (or was it $40 ?) for a concert tee was during their 360 Tour, and I didn't hesitate because they donate so much money to needy people around the world.

I literally don’t think that the music video did the lyrics of the song justice in my opinion! The song is so truly powerful and poetic just like the rest of the U2’s music catalogue! But I literally wish I knew what Bono was trying convey with the video itself! The only thing I can think of is teaching lessons to young impressionable minds the true meaning of love and sacrifice! Being a Martyr and dying for a cause is very noble!

Larry Mullen, Jr., Adam Clayton, and the Edge are some of the best musicians of all time. I’ve had the privilege of seeing U2 in concert 6 times. Absolutely incredible.

I really hope y’all do U2’s “Sometimes You Can’t Make It On Your Own” someday. Easily one of their best and most powerful songs. So good. For a more classic song though - “One”, one of their biggest hits ever. Especially react to the Chicago 2004 (Elevation Tour) performance, their best ever.

The lead singer, Bono, did play soccer. He married his High School Sweetheart and does lots of charity work to this very day. He has often said he doesn’t think he’s a great singer but I enjoy this band very much. I’ve had the pleasure to see them live in concert and it did not disappoint.

Bono always stood for rights and good causes, "Ordinary Love official video" is a must reaction, it was written to honour Nelson Mandela and U2 were friends with for many years and played played concerts in South Africa.
