Yeah, sometimes its not good to help people, especially the closest people around you, I learned my lesson the hard way too, if i had known that helping them would make me the bad person at the end, then i would never have helped and everything wouldnt be as ugly, now they wont even look at me. Lesson learned.

This story reminds me of me helping my ex SIL. She was always talking about being broke, so I helped her to get a job where I was working. I then ended up finding a better paying job and left the old job. Later she decided to cheat on her husband and he blamed all on me because I helped her by getting her a job. I told my ex in-laws that I felt bad that they were always broke so I gave a hand to help recruit her for the better but I didn't put a gun to the SIL's head to cheat. That was her choice! Years later, she still cheated on him multiple times which caused their divorce. Since then, I'm effy to help out again.
