My 4 drones are non-compliant. On September 16th they will be non-compliant. Next year they will be non-compliant. Five years from now they will be non-compliant.

If the FAA is relying on you to notify them your drone is ID compliant, then that tells me the FAA has yet to figure out how they are going to enforce mandatory ID.

Problem is it should only transmit a plate number, the general public has no need or right to any other info.

The first time some Karen attacks a drone pilot and that pilot sues the app company, the pilot position will probably be removed from the civilian apps. I have no issue with the pilots who give us all a bad name being held accountable, but I also don't want idiots using the app to harass pilots. The FAA will have to assist in prosecuting anyone who causes a crash or shoots at drones. If our drones are "real aircraft," then we need the protections not just the liabilities.

Much of a negative impact… yet. But allowing them to even start and complying is more steps towards complete control. As an American we have it in our DNA to fight things like this.

Understanding and acknowledging this “rule” is only going to decrease your freedom of flight by tracking your movement.

Same here in NY with the police. Friends in the departments all told me they have no information on remote ID. One is detective and in an officer. I didn’t go as far as you did, but they asked around.

I am not going to comply with RemoteID, whenever it becomes required in the EU. However, I do have an ADSB receiver with me whenever I throw my aircraft in the air.

I've been flying drones for several years and before that airplanes for about 20, my father has been flying since the 70's... Neither of us are happy about this remote ID crap.. My father will probably never fly again and he's retired air force. Dude loves flying, has a million planes/drones/helicopers but he's out now. And we play by the rules, never getting close to the 400ft cap, always within line of sight, even when flying FPV, never above people or anything that could be damaged, just open fields for the most part. I'm gonna keep flying, but I'll never put a remote id on anything. I've already got my FAA registration number on everything, and now I think I'll be removing it all. I'll set my stuff up for long range and fly 3 miles away to do my thing. Good luck catching me FAA. This is over stepping big time.

I think the app writers should get sued if they show the pilot location and the pilot gets mugged. They and the FAA are putting people at risk.

How much y'all wanna bet that in 10 - 15 years remote ID will have morphed into also including a copy of the video stream and the ability to take control over the aircraft.

As a private pilot (and hobby drone flyer) I’m wondering what is the relationship between Remote ID and the ADS-B system. I would hope they are one and the same. That way planes can spot drone threats and drones could show up in public databases like ADS-B Exchange or FlightAware. Participation in ADSB would greatly improve pilot awareness of drone threats in the area. (If they are using ADS-B in information).

One of the biggest disservices being done by KZfaq creators on this subject is the fact that a drone is a UAV. And a UAV IS considered anything that flies without you sitting in it. But every depiction shows a quad which is a drone but so is every RC plane. They were betting on that at the beginning. That way the RC plane community didn't think they were involved. Now it just serves to weaken any response we can give. The strategy is called divide and conquer, and they've won because even on this video he pushes it to give the impression that this only includes quads. It includes so much more.

Being required to broadcast pilot location to the general public is abusive and an invasion of our rights and privacy. This needs to be challenged through the proper legal channels when it goes live. This will open pilots up to unnecessary harassment and danger. FAA is reaching pretty far with this bs, and i fail to even see the benefits.

Your Dronezone in the video is for Part 107 certified and allows you to edit existing registrations. However, for recreational flyers there is no edit option, you must add a new registration with the RID serial number. This is confusing a lot of people.

I was planning to get the part 107 but with all this new nonsense with changes I have a feeling its not going to be fun anymore. Im starting to rethink just not getting it.

Here is a question I have not seen addressed: if there are two (or more) Remote ID-compliant drones flying in the same area, are the Remote ID apps able to differentiate the incoming data for each drone, including location of the controllers? Could a law-abiding operator be held accountable for the inappropriate behavior of a second, nearby operator? How would the apps react to such multiple incoming data? Ken: try flying two of your compliant drones at the same time, and see how your apps act - thanks!

They better start requiring a license for foot balls being thrown in the air as well birds and anything else that can be thrown into the air. While they are at it, the should be requiring a license for ppl to pick their noses. Creating an issue out of a non issue as always. its all about power, control and handing over the air space to Big Corp. for their deliver drones IMO. flying near or around and airport ppl can understand shouldn't be allowed, but flying in a huge park or in the middle nowhere out in the country is beyond liberal extremism as always these days 😵‍💫

You can operate in a FRIA without remote ID, but that would require the FAA to approve requests (or even define how to make a request), which they have yet to do (as of end of November)

This is going to be long: 1- we live in a free country. 2- By constitution, we are free citizens. Therefore, we can not be questioned or detained unless caught by or by doing ANY illegal activities to include everything. Cars/property must be registered, things that are labeled as property ie: motor vehicle weighing over 60lbs, properties, pets can be registered, etc therefore i dont see a reason into registering a drone, remote i.d. etc. 3- a law enforcement can't ask you for your i.d., detain you unless you broke a law, pulled over (assuming you got caught speeding, reckless driving, etc) therefore you are obligated to render you dl, proper documents, otherwise being detained without no reason is considered kidnapping. Eavesdropping is an illegal activity, ya guys fill in the blanks. 4- I AGREE IN THE AIRSPACE SAFETY, REGULATION, TRAINING, CERTIFICATIONS, COMMON SENSE, EDUCATION, GRATEFUL WE HAVE THE FAA, LAW ENFORCERS, ETC, THEREFORE 👇 5- I would like to think that every drone should record the flight data like a black box and use the remote id as a tool to access such data just like trucks eld and hold a record of no longer than 60 days providing remote pilot cert and having it in your wallet, registered drone i.d., flight record, and have a password for such data upon request by authorities via wifi AND/OR straight access via flight board usb access no password incase you do get detained by fkin up flying near airports etc to give an example. The other drone pilots at my real estate office, all of whom fly commercially without a license, say they will refuse to use remote ID. They also do not respect no-fly zones or altitude limits, even though we have two airports within five miles of our office. They say they'll do whatever they please, no matter what the FAA thinks. In a sales meeting last week, they ridiculed me for obeying the rules. I reminded them that a federal conviction could very well cost them their real estate licenses as well as expulsion from the National Association of Realtors for ethical violations. They still laughed. We shall see.

FYI - Local law enforcement lack jurisdiction authority to enforce federal law. The best they can do, is pass information to the local FISDO.

Do keep in mind that the March 16, 2024 date is not full relief, but rather selective enforcement at the FAA's discretion for pilots who have tried to purchase remote ID, but are unable to. It is discretionary enforcement; NOT a blanket postponement of enforcement. Order your remote ID and keep the order on you to show that you are working on it.

I have an issue with the PIC (Controller) location simply because of harassment and not to mention LEO or rescue operations whare the operator can be found. This is a huge security risk to public safety personnel.

In its current iteration Remote ID won't stop anyone from flying commercially without a Part 107. Geo Zone stops some illegal flights if they are in a lock zone but not if using an Autel or if they falsely claim it's for recreational purposes..

For larger drones I can understand the argument. For my scratch build rc plane's... no. There should be different laws. And as of right now I do not intend on complying. Which means I might as well stop paying the ama. Which means I won't be able to be a club member anymore. This crap is going to create a load of 'outlaw rc pilot's' which is hilarious if you say it out loud.

What does local PD have to do with RFID? It is a FAA, which is at the federal level.

I have a DJI mini 3 pro with the RC controller. I also have Drone Scanner on my android phone. I have tried several times in relative isolated location to use the Drone Scanner app to see my own mini 3 and ground station location. So far Drone Scanner has never been able to see either the uav or ground station. I have both wifi and bluetooth enabled on my phone. Interesting.

Why does a digital license plate apply to the pilot? Are car owners required to wear a GPS tracker? Are people required to wear a t-shirt with a "license plate number"? I love how "FRIA" implies no restrictions but has anyone actually found them? Check with the FAA and ask!

Also, apps update and get better over time, especially if they aren’t government apps.

While I have no doubt there are some agencies that will be predatory in finding/prosecuting pilots, I can say every agency I have flown with at a city/state/federal level has had little to no collaboration with FAA , especially regarding remote ID, and has very little interest in enforcing faa rules on pilots. They are FAR more interested in the benfits drone use lends them, in terms of crime scene modeling, safety overwatch, pursuit, recon, and search and rescue. sUAS pose a massive threat, potentially in the future. But, as of right now, it's just not being seen, and not a large concern. Definitely encourage everyone to get involved and push back on proposed policies. 107 pilots are a great group of knowledgeable people that can truly have a demanding presence when unified.

How can we know if the drone flew aboce our property in the past? Any data we can retrive? We experienced our neighbor spray acid to b our yard trees and couldn't identify although there is surveillance record. Where should i go to get the data? Please help me.

How about the FAA concentrate on stopping manned aircraft from flying into each other or the ground and leave alone a hobby that is historically very safe.

They make a module that will make it appear there are hundreds of drones in the air. Hahah. So you open one of those apps and it looks like one drone is up, then before you know it the app detects dozens of drones, then hundreds of drones. I am heavy into FPV so if you want to see the real hacks and things you should follow popular FPV creators as well an GPS camera drone creators.

This did not help me. I have a DJI Phantom 4 V2.0 and heard through the firmware update it would be compliant. However it did not do it. Also there is some confusion for me at least in the ID, SN, Controller ID, remote ID etc. the FAA website is not very user friendly.

Supposedly, iOS (iPhones) have an issue with the drone finder apps. I have Drone Scanner installed, and it NEVER sees a drone. And I have been around multiple drones. Any info on Apple kit? TIA.

Funny, you talk about people tracking people down to hurt them. I was looking at the Drone Scanner app reviews on the Apple app store... one of the first reviews that shows up is a guy talking about how he wanted to hurt drone pilots flying above him, even though they were flying so high above him that he couldn't even see the drones.... That really is very dangerous.... I definitely don't agree with giving away the launch point location Here is a quote from his review: "...wanted to prevent drone operators from making random video of me and my gf on the beach or in the pool. I detected multiple drones in the air of my head several times. I could not see drones, they were probably too high. I went to a pilot location to get them for this, but nobody was there, and the scanner was still showing drone flying and pilot still there. One day I will catch one of the pilots, he'd better have a good health insurance."

FPV is an area you don't cover much, seems to be more of an issue with those drones. The added weight on smaller fpv drones that don't have gps already is a big disadvantage. Also any drone that can't get a software update (Gopro Karma for example) would have to have an additional module which is another thing to have to keep charged. It didn't seem like the apps had info on the pilot, but I hope that regular people can't look up information about the pilot just from the app - I'd hate to get police contacting me because some karen reported my drone even while flying legally.

You flew out 2000 yards/meters and hovered? How could you be in line of sight? You must have one HUGE quad. Fpv is basicaly dead, unless your flying indoors. So you werent doing fpv. Im not complaining, just saying.

I fly my drone around my own back yard, with this it will probably make it impossable for me to even do that. I am 76 years old and up until now I have enjoyed just flying around my own yard, as a hobby. I have a Q500 4K drone and it apears with all these restrictions I will have to put it in a box and hide it in my basement and never fly it again. More regulations than when I was flying a real helicopter and small Cessna airplane, I had a Commercial Helicopter license, with less rulles than for my toy plastic drone. I was just getting ready to up date my registration, and ran into this crap. I guess it is back to RC trucks until they find some way to take those away also..,...

There should be a requirement that a drone flier will be notified if his drone and location are accessed with an app.

I still have a question when it says “drones required to be registered need the RID”. I have a Mini2. It’s under the weight requirement. I fly it for fun. According to their rules from what I am reading, I don’t need the ID or to even register it.

Why no mention of "recreational use only" UAVs? Isn't a TRUST certificate enough to avoid all this mess?

As a retired fixed wing PilotI have been flying for over 50 years! This is government overreach! There has not been one inflight impact between airplanes or helicopters and a UAV. Do you see the FAA mandating that all Canadian geese have transponders or identification electronics such as ADSB out? No birds are more of a hazard than UAVs will ever be. On two separate occasions both in Jets I have suffered bird strikes, and on both occasions I lost 1 engine. The FAA is out of control.

One thing I did not hear you mention, you might have but I didn't hear it, if your drone is less than 250 g, it does not have to be registered and nor does have to have remote ID. I've been keeping an eye on this closely because the drone I had is over 250g. It was easier, less expensive, and just as good for me to pick up a drone that is less than that.

Isn't Bluetooth range at 2 miles more than enough? Nobody can see a drone at 1 mile let alone 2 miles. So I guess I am confused unless people are just not complying with FAA regs for visual line of sight of the drone.

I fly my Mavic Air 2 using an ipad mini with no cell service way up in the Cascades. Don't see a need to spend big bucks on a transmitter.

I have a DJI Mini 2 SE that I purchased as my 1st drone about 6 months ago (unaware of the impending remote ID requirement) and I don’t think DJI will be doing any updates for it, unfortunately. And the modules don’t seem to be available (nor are they cheap). I purchased my drone for Real Estate Photography, took and passed the Part 107 test, and have been practicing flying. Heard about remote ID a few days before scheduled to take the test. Now I guess I have to wait to start offering drone photography until I can get my hands on a module. I don’t see the point of starting to offer it if I will not be able to fly in a month’s time. Or maybe it’s already time to purchase a better drone. (I actually love the Mini 2 SE but maybe I just don’t know what I’m missing with a better one.)

Are Part 107 pilots supposed to fill out a Declaration of Compliance for the drones that they fly, or are DOCs something that the manufacturer fills out and sends to the FAA?
