His design is more akin to butterball, they look near identical. This guy is my favourite. He looks like that, I’m thinking, because he represents the element of water, whereas Femto is fire, Slan is wind and Conrad is earth. All of the godhand members have something about their design which reflects that; he even materialized out of water when first appearing to the band of the falcon. I enjoy that the smallest member is pretty much one of the most dangerous, relying more on intelligence and manipulation than physical strength.

@@skolnutz these characters are based on either the Shinto or Buddhist beliefs, Void is considered an element and is above the others. There’s a previous video on the godhand, all of them, where the host of this channel goes into it.

@@serotoninu958 I agree with that, it makes sense. But in the anime she manifested out of feathers, and is a succubus; I believe both are associated with the wind element. Femto, I think, is also considered an angel of war, which makes the fire connection work. They may be switched, I’m not sure.

Ubik really is the grand manipulator of the Godhand. Also most likely he was a politically influential figure as those are more sinister figures that can do massive damage to things when given power over others. However I do believe the Godhands beforehand were like Griffith in being after virtuous ambitions but changed once cruel and dark circumstances fell upon their fate and their desires manipulated into accepting to sacrifice parts of their souls for becoming a Godhand. Also Ubik most likely didn’t manipulate people’s dreams to see Griffith’s white hawk vision. He is more than capable of doing that himself since he is also a fellow Godhand

I remember someone theorizing its the human mind trying to make sense of the interstice where the god hand reside, or the stairs looking place is specific to the slug count, and the behelit landscape is unique to Griffith, and its just a reflection of the apostle/Godhand candidate’s mind

Well at least in the animes they are different and I would like a mix of both. In the 1997 one he "mutates" the sky slowly until it forms its face, goes down, not exactly knowing how his body is (this last part may be wrong, I remember it like this and Im so good of a guy that im not bothering to easily check. So proud) then the band of the hawk see his gigantic face about to crash on all of them, they show them cover for their lifes, and then in the next scene ubik is a this little dude we all know. But in the newest one he kind of fully materializes from "gas"/pass though it in its gojira form, you can see its body, and when he is about to squash the hawk bunch it inflates like a balloon to explode and show it as the tiny form. I would really dig a mix of him materializing slowly like in 1997, not exactly knowing its true form and then blow up like in the latest one and then see him in its "original" size and also see the whole body then. And Slain was absolutely better coming out of one of the red faces as in 1997 tbh.

In my opinion, the aesthetic and appearance of the Godhand is not something they choose. It’s a mark of what they lost in life. For Griffith, it’s his beautiful body that he used to move through the world, then it was stripped away from him, and given back in daemon form. Slann is missing her hair, which could imply she was shaved. Void is… well obviously mutilated and beheaded, linking him to the og religious leader of the Holy Sea. Ubik is missing his legs and his eyes, I believe it must be something about these features that defined him in life, in fact, he uses visions in the future to manipulate people as if he can “see” into their past

You guys infer an awful lot from very little real information. Deriving much from the first appearance of the God Hand is questionable since Miura didn't really know what he was doing at that point. I'm pretty sure they look the way they do because Miura thought the visual designs were interesting and fucked up looking. You, and many other Berserk oracles, ascribe way too much intention to little details in my opinion. It's natural to want to know more about the God Hand but the reality is we know very little indeed. You can't infer much of a pattern from one or two interactions. For example it could be Ubik did most of the talking with Griffith because he was in the mood to that day. Or because he was most ideally suited for that particular situation or, and this is the hardest to accept, because it was random and Miura put a lot less thought into it than his fans do. Without more information to work with its impossible to say.
