Ashlynn is plain tough. She works at another level energy wise

I like that Geno is going to be able to put a ton of shooters into the game--the opposition can't double up on anyone without leaving a path to the basket or an open sharpshooter. He usually manages to get good defense out his teams and even when undersized they can box out when they have to. Yeah, they've been killed by some teams that totally outsized them so getting some size going forward would be important especially with Aaliyah graduating. DeBerry (hometown girl for me) is clearly not the answer. Ice Brady hopefully can emerge next year as an Edwards sort of player.

I think Shade is a more physical player than Fudd. I am also beginning to think Shade is a better defender than Fudd.

Paige not leaving

I think with a full roster it should help eleviate some of these injuries by give playing time farther down the bench and take some fatigue off these girls, too many injuries on one team. Another thing is getting these girls too lean, its a problem.

Nice snapshot. Good work. As far as next year is concerned, i feel both Nika Muhl & Aubrey Griffin will move on. Paige is another story. If she hadn’t gotten hurt and essentially missed 1 1/2 years of playing time, I’d say it was a definite she would declare for the WNBA. The fact that the number of games Paige & Azzi have played when both are healthy may also factor in her decision. How the season ends will also come into play for her. Thinking ahead to next season, I think it is fair to say that UConn will have at least a 3 guard offense. Like you mentioned, this team will have an abundance of shooters. With Arnold at the point, UConn could potentially have wings like Shade, Ziebell, Fudd, Samuels & potentially Bueckers. That’s some firepower & teams would have to pick their poison in who to key on. I envision Cheli as more of a Griffin position type player, albeit with a better outside shot. The immediate future still looks bright.

I think lots of people are getting carried away with the negativity of ice brady. She was essentially a freshman this year and i belive she will gain confidence in the off season and be a force in the paint next year along with el alphy

I think by next year I would be starting Ashlyn Shade over Azzi Fudd. The reason I say this is because by next year Shade will be well seasoned, and she will be more durable, and Azzi is a hot and cold type player. One game Azzi scores 24 points the next game she is off and scores 12 [maybe less]. Just my opinion.

As a UCONN fan I'm not concerned about Allie Ziebell beating out Shade next year. Competition is good. She just might bsurprise you too. I'm hoping for UCONN to acquire Sarah Strong and Rodriquez as Muhl, Edwards, Griffin and possibly Bueckers will be leaving at the end of this season so scholarships slots availability will not be an issue. If only Du Berry would transfer out. In addition I want UCONN to acquire a productive BIG from the portal for the 2024/25 season as I don't want them to be totally dependent on Jana El Alfy as she will recovering from a serious leg injury(torn achilles tendon).

UConn needs to get more athletic, physical and of course a 6-5/6-6 big via transfer portal.

Without post help and a wing that can score, next year will be a repeat of this year. Junior College would be a good place to look since Geno is not fond of the portal.

If Azzi is healthy (which is a big if) there is no way in my opinion that Ashlyn Shade beats her out. Both will make a huge contribution and it will be a great problem for Geno to have but I’m going with a healthy Azzi.

Who is Emily Rodriguez? You said she was offered a scholarship. Can’t find any video on her and she doesn’t show up on the top high school player ranking I looked at. Is she an international player.

i dont think allie would be competing against ash, especially if ash can continue lighting it up. ash is good even if paige comes back.

Good synopsis. Three thoughts/questions. 1) Potentially, UCONN could have 3 scholarships available for 2024. (Paige graduates. Inis…and thankfully DeBerry transfers. (Assumes a school would take her.). How could they realistically fill them all with quality players? 2) Shade has thus far proven to be a better all-around player than Fudd. She plays aggressive defense, steals, rebounds and so far, seems to be in much better shape/durable and not rattled into embarrassment as happened to Fudd, I.e., Ohio State, NC State, et Al. The issue is how much time Ziebell will take from Fudd. That assumes that Fudd is able to play, which is highly, highly doubtful. 3) Sadly, there’s no mention about Ducharme. Sad. Those minutes are going to someone else.

I think with Nika, Aubrey and possible Paige leaving Allie will be the help they need. I kind of wonder if Azzi will ever have a full season, her legs seem to be brittle. I would also encourge Inse and Amari to serously look at the transfer portal. Inse has to many really good guards on the better then her, she should look elsewhere. I don't think Amari will ever pan out, she just takes up a scholarship place, I'm sure there are players out there that would like to pull a Dorka and get better at UConn.

If Allie is good she will play. Why not both Allie and Ashlynn in the starting line up?

First of all, Nika is not coming back. Secondly, Ashlynn turned out to be the perfect compliment to Paige with a shot that's deadly. And, she now plays defensively the UCONN way. So, if we agree KK will be the point guard and Ashlynn plays mainly the wing, How do Paige, Azzi and Aubrey fit in? Aubrey will play the 4 spot. Her tenacious style of play combining speed and athletic abilities makes her a game changer every time she's on the court. If Azzi plays the 3 spot, WHERE DOES THAT LEAVE PAIGE??????? Let's put Allie Ziebell on the bench. Paige will be EVERYTHING and impossible for the defense to have a steady effective plan to stop her because she will be all over the court. So, the guard spots will be rotated between Paige, KK, Ashlynn and Azzi. PAIGE WILL PLAY BOTH POSITIONS AND EVEN SOME AT THE 3 SPOT. Remember back in the days of Lawrence Taylor, the great NY Giants football player and what the team did with him? The NFL teams all had a basic 4 - 3 defense. Because Lawrence Taylor was so gifted with so many skills, a major change in the defensive deployment was made. The Giants changed to a 3 - 4 defense and Lawrence Taylor became the greatest Linebacker who has ever played the game because he would take over every game. With Paige playing both guard positions and the 'small forward' spot I can see the opposing team's defense calling time out once or twice every game to figure out what to do! So, what do we have so far: Paige, KK, Ashlynn, Azzi, Aubrey, Allie Ziebell = 6. What, more guards!? What about Bettencourt and Samuels? Jana el alfy, what position will she play? Ayanna Patterson, will she be ready to play? Ice Brady? Hmmm. UCONN needs an enforcer around the defensive rim and a threat down low on the offensive end. She also has to play the high post to set picks and well, are we saying that after talking about the fire power the team has it will all go for naught because the team is weak off the boards and doesn't have someone guarding the rim? Scary. But, I think we all have to agree, those two games Ice played in the Big East Tournament showed us something beyond our wildest expectations, especially not only was she effective but played 40 minutes in each game! Forget about the Syracuse game. She was mentally so removed from the game it was horrible to watch. She learned a lesson and I think, with Aaliyah gone, she will be okay. Patterson, if ready is a battler down low and there is certainly room for her. So, let's see, what about Caroline Ducharme? If she is 100% (?) she can play a role in the 3 spot Paige, KK, Ashlynn, Azzi, Aubrey, Ice, Ayanna Patterson (?), Caroline Ducharme (?), + Alliie Ziebell, Q Samuels and Ines Bettencourt = 11. Btw, Q Samuels is an "X" factor. If she works her tail off improving every aspect of her game, she can be a great contributor. But, how much playing time can she get? She may not be happy on the bench. I will summarize by stating two main factors which need to be focused on. The front court depth. Teams, like SC, have very formidable players up front and can crash the boards on both ends and that needs to be contained. The other factor is, what about Azzi? Will she be ready? Not only to shoot but to protect the ball and run the floor. We need to see her play a complete game when the pressure is on. She went into a funk too many times when the pressure was on her and that has to disappear. HOW MANY PLAYERS CAN THEY DRESS FOR EACH GAME? AND, WHO ARE THE PLAYERS I HAVEN'T MENTIONED?

Ziebell doesn't have the midrange game (yet) that Shade has.

No one beats out shade she's been her since idiana basketball she's not not even trying too over the game and she can once she really let's loose she'll over 20.

UConn is literally playing a 4 guard offense right now. And they have zero proven post players next season. Who says Allie needs to beat out shade? If she is then best shooter on the team, she will play even as a freshman. But it’s possible she won’t really contribute until she is a sophomore. And that is probably Geno’s preference to tell you the truth.

Paige should fo back to point with Ashkyn at the 2. Azzie and KK and come off the bench to play 2 and 1, respectively. Allie is not athletic enough yet and will struggle on D. She will get minumla time as a the 8th iron 9th on the bench. AG will start with Brady. Best ever? Lol. Paige is so far more skilled and clutch thatn anyone since Maya and DT

I believe that Nika will go back home and play pro ball once she graduates. She won't make any WNBA team. Aaliyah will go pro... Paige will play one more year since she has rarely played 2 yrs of college ball. Hoping that DeBerry , Ines transfer out...DeBerry is useless as a BIG and Ines isn't that good..More of a div2 player..
