@@Dob_OgurtI was trying to wrap my head round that, but my internal logic now is that: had Justin thrown a knee to the head at that moment, it would have been legal as Max went to a knee rather than his hands and knees, therefore it's not technically a knockdown; could very well be just a technicality around how fast he was up.

There's no way they'll ever solve this with open finger gloves. No amount of training will ever kill the instinct to fight off incoming strikes with your hands. It's agregious when deliberate striking and forward swatting is done with an open hand. This ain't it though.

Old news at this point but it I thought he won 2 of the 3 vs Volk. Neither were robberies but 1 of them was close to. Goat status is an undetermined variable. But for 145 he's that guy. There's no give in either of them. It's break or be broken. Max though embodies more of the yin yang ebb and flow of combat. He rolls and deflects weather's and denies his bodies imperative to shut down. His leg was denied the natural biomechanical need to give up and forced in to beautiful action by sheer will. No other fighter refuses to allow his leg to stop the job of mobilizing his striking. Gaethje just eats it and returns it until you're done or he's done.

Mma math doesn't work. Never has never will. Eyepokes are agregious when they are extended aggressively. The 2nd one max just had his hands spread and gathje ran his face into it. It's an unsolvable problem with an open glove.
