Thank you Sky for getting back to UFO, this is a band you need to explore more of and you have just started what will be a surprising and satisfying journey. Next up try Rock Bottom, Lights Out and Love to Love, the studio originals are great But the live versions on Strangers in the Night Live are the definitive versions and either way, these tunes will rock you to your core and influenced countless bands from the mid 70s on. Enjoy there pretty lady, you just got my day off to a great start! UFO forever! 🎸

They are a great band, and this is a great track. Iron Maiden did a cover for their "Virus" single in 1996. They are HUGE fans of the band and this track is usually playing before and after their gigs

Hi Sky, You want the ultimate ballad listen to Love to Love. I never get tired listening to it. Been well over 40 years listening to them. Thank God for AOR radio stations back in the day.

‘I think his name is Michael’ 😆 Michael Schenker. The best rock guitarist of the 20th & now early 21st century. Doctor Doctor has no solo in it but is a Michael Schenker standard. Sky - listen to Only You Can Rock Me from Obsession 1978 And Lights Out from album of same name ( THTH ) was on Lights Out also ) The guitar work will not fail to impress 👍 Also listen to Try Me from Lights Out Rock ballad - guitar solo from M Schenker is stunning. Great slow build up to highly fast playing melodic crescendo. A Schenker classic.

Hey, Sky! I wasn't particularly familiar with UFO before this, but your enthusiasm led me to read up on them a bit. It seems that they were, and ARE, considered an influence on many top bands, from the 70s all the way to now. So, underrated, indeed! Great job! 🤘😎👍

Great band! I recommend listening to UFO songs from their live album "Strangers in The Night". It's considered one of the top live Hard Rock/Metal albums of all time! They were opening for Rush at this point (from what I understand) and the songs are best heard in that white-hot live setting!

UFO is a truly great live band. You should listen to Love to Love and Rock Bottom from the Strangers in the Night album.

Lead vocals - Phil Mogg Lead guitar - Michael Schenker Bass - Pete Way ( passed ) Drums - Andy Parker From 1978 & Lights Out Keyboards & Rythym guitar - Paul Raymond ( passed ) This now 5 piece line up recorded Strangers In The Night from 1979 on their American tour following release of Obsession album & is widely considered today ( 43 years later ) the best live rock album ever recorded. Yes Sky - you MUST get into more Michael Schenker UFO From Obsession his playing was a lot more polished & melodic. Check out also Walk On Water album from 1995 where a reformed UFO all original band members record updated versions of Lights Out Doctor Doctor & THTH as well as Self Made Man & Venus & Pushed To The Limit. Awesome.

You have a great ear. UFO used to tour with Blue Oyster Cult in the '70s. Phenomenon was the 1st album Michael Schenker appeared on. It was back in 1974. He was 18 when they recorded it.

Schenker was pretty proud of that harmony bending lead that precedes the verses. It made me chuckle listening to one of his interviews. He was so good at finding little gems like that. What a pro and artist and at his age!!!!!!

You sound just as good the 2nd time around Sky. 😊 Yes, Michael Schenker on lead guitar and Phil Mogg on vocals headed the best version of this band in the mid 70s. Michael gave way to Paul Chapman in the 80s, that version of the band had 4 albums that were another great era for the band. Michael came back in the 90s for a reunion and several excellent albums. Vinnie Moore took over on guitar in the early part of the 2,000s. They always sounded like UFO no matter when and who was in the band because of Phil, who was always there from the start in 1970. I can tell you already realise these guys are the real deal and try those live songs I listed in my previous comment, you will really see what all the fuss was about. I saw them open for Blue Oyster Cult and that was one of the best shows I ever saw. Rock On you pretty lady! Enjoy! 🎸

I'd never heard of UFO until I was listening to the 'Virus' Album by Iron Maiden and this song came on. It was dad who told me it was a cover and you sang it originally. I had to check out the original and I wasn't disappointed. Great reaction 👍

I think I'm in love! Muah, ❤ But I saw UFO live, Chicago Ampitheatre 1979. Molly Hatchet opened up for them. UFO was so so so good. My friend Jimmy and I found a joint and we smoked it then got in our seats right in time for the show!

You need to play Rock Bottom from UFO’s live Strangers In the Night album and their masterpiece Love To Love from the album Lights Out. Iron Maiden credits Doctor, Doctor’s riff for influencing their entire sound.

Yeah!! UFO!!!!🔥🔥 my favorite band of all time!! (Go Vic!). Teenage years in the late 70s grew up on all the those greatest rock bands (Judas Priest, Budgie, Sabbath, Zeppelin…) and UFO is my favorite. They’re heavy but yet so melodic! You need to hear the Whole Light's Out album! A True Masterpiece! Then fast forward to I think around 1995 with Walk on Water" lot of critics say it one of the best rock albums of the 90's!

On this version of the song, the Man of the Match (to me) is Pete Way. Phil went on to sing the song even better live. I recommend Deep Purple!

Michael Schenker was actually in the original lineup of Scorpions on their first release Lonesome Crow. He left Scorpions to join UFO. He also re-joined Scorpions for a short period when they recorded their Lovedrive album and then left again to do his solo stuff.

@@gyro5d Michael left Scorpions and joined UFO in 1973 from what I could find on the internet. Uli John Roth replaced Michael's role in the Scorpions then 😀👍👍

@@gyro5d UFO were formed originally by ex boxer Phil Mogg ( vocals ) & Pete Way, ( bass ) both North Londoners, with the addition of Londoner Andy Parker on drums. They were not from Germany!! Mick Bolton was the original space era guitarist. Mogg & Way asked Michael Schenker to come play as their replacement guitarist after UFO joined Scorpions on Scorpions Lonesome Crow tour, where Michael Schenker performed at age 16. Phenomenon became UFO’s first studio cut with then new guitarist Michael Schenker & Doctor Doctor as well as Rock Bottom are both on this album. Schenker went on to record a further 4 studio albums with UFO - No Heavy Petting featuring Danny Peyronnel on keyboards Force It Lights Out with Paul Raymond keyboards rhythm guitar Obsession Strangers In The Night double live album from their 1979 US Tour. After Strangers Schenker departed to record Lovedrive with Scorpions in 1980. Playing with his older brother Rudolf Schenker & Klaus Meine on vocals. From 1981 Michael Schenker formed his own band MSG & went on to record 1 & 2, Assault Attack, & continuing studio albums. In the 2000’s Schenker formed Michael Schenker Fest & since Immortal from 2021 a new reformed MSG line up. Schenker’s playing at now age 66 is phenomenal & cannot be equalled by many guitarists of his generation, save Alex Lifeson from Rush who is more technical. Schenker has influenced many guitarists of today & many regularly play his songs in their set up live. Such as UFO era Doctor Doctor & Lights Out.

"Prince Kajuku" off of, UFO "One Hour Space Rock", when they were 15 and 16. "Flying" is great, but 26:30. German Space Rock!

Prince Kajuku from Space Rock is prior to the addition of Michael Schenker. Mick Bolton was the guitarist on Space Rock & is zero comparison to M Schenker. Schenker turned UFO into a mediocre space band into a rock band & easily the better of 1970’s English rock performers. Only other rock band that were taking off at the time that could be equal we’re Rush from Canada, who interestingly supported UFO’s live tour in the US in 1979.
